What a great job on an all-time favorite tune. You, my friend, have quite the ol' talent! Now can you flip the guitar and do it left-handed? :) And can you tell me what I'm referring to?
Heh, I was referring to Billy McLaughlin and his comment after being diagnosed with focal dystonia. I love finger-style guitar and, while I knew it might be a reach, I thought you may have heard about that. Billy is on You Tube if ya get a chance to check'm out. Again, fantastic. Have you seen the young lady on here who does "Daisy?" Unbelievable... :) -Kevin
I am an aspiring fingerstyle player myself, having only just begun to develop a repertoire. You mentioned the tuning in a previous post, however, could you direct me to a tab transcription somewhere - or even sheet music?
hello Mike, the tunning for this is DADEAD - i think Pat put this in a book called Kentucky Guitar but I am not sure. You might search for it - thanks for watching!
Love your playing and guitars too. I'm a Kirtley nut too. Just got his acoustic solos from Mel Bay and been working on his Celtic Fingerstyle from Guitar Workshop. Great stuff. I hope to do some posting soon as well but probably just audio. Also curious if you have a classical guitar background? I play my steel on the left leg too. Anyway, love your playing. Thanks for sharing it.
hello Rick, thanks for your kind words! PK is just one of my favorites. I love his Celtic work and would love to hear your work one day! I do not have a classical background but sort of use a more classical right hand postion and placement of guitar, feels better to me and when I stand and play the guitar is in the same position. All the best,
Wow! another one of my favorite tunes, your taste in song selections are just like mine, I host Acoustic concerts and would love to speak about having you perform if you live in the New England area of the US? Let me know and GREAT job on that tune! Brian
I really like Pat Kirtley's tunes too. They are so coherent in both melody, harmony and rhythm - not just based on idle noodling around. You are a lucky guy to have all those great guitars. I posted you another message about stoney point and referred to Collings guitars. My playing is mostly driving fingerstyle and I would like a Collings. I would be interested in your recommendations about the different Collings guitars' merits.
This guitar is an OM. Both the OM and CJ are short scale, with koa back and sides. This guitar has a sitka top, the CJ a german top. They are very different but both easy to play, rich, full tone. This OM is the most comfortable guitar for me due to it's size - great for a four hour gig!
DUDE Mr. Adams YOU'RE A BEAST. That was awesome man. By the way this is Patrick Denney, I dont know if you remember me or not, hopefully you do. I'm a tall blonde kid from the guitar club that played bass and guitar. I had the Iceman bass and a les paul styled Tradition. Hit me up sometime man, we'll jam!
That was wonderful :-)
