my shepherd had HUGE balls! he got fixed at age 11. 10+yrs w/ big dog balls. every dog i have will keep his balls until old age, then for health reasons once he's an old fart, then only then will the balls go away. if it's a little, non-working dog, like a pug or something then balls and testosterone aren't needed. fixing a male dog (especially before age 3) makes it a not fully male dog.

@chronicrossi89 you're crazy. fixing a male dog, particularly a working dog, my dog was a shepherd who did Schutzhund (police work for sport) is not advisable until after he has developed his secondary sex traits, age 2-3 for a dog like a shepherd. thereafter you've now limited (putting it mildly) his testosterone. a male dog w/out balls is no longer fully male. i'm not going to debate this w. you on youtube. vet medicine, aspca, others set agendas. test cancer, yes, no nuts, no cancer...

@cyruseven75 my dog was neutered at 6 months and hes a true beast at 120 pounds with no lack of testosterone . Part chocolate labrador part border collie. Maybe it depends on the breed. But in my case, my dog turned out just fine and he still goes around humping everything he can get his paws on. Both his breeds are working dogs but we don't use them for neither hunting or sheep herding.

They suffer for doing what comes naturally. As you might expect, they have no ecological niche, and so do great harm to other species. Millions of animals are also killed in "shelters" every year for these reasons.

Also, even if he was ONLY advocating to never neuter a male dog, we could still spay female dogs and we would never have a problem with them reproducing.

As a side note: human controlled breeding has led to a lot of major problems in the dog species as well. None of the dogs we even have today would exist if not for humans selectively breeding them.

I agree, and having any animal suffer (or have to be put down) is a sad and unfortunate reality. I was half-joking about the spaying/neutering comment. A large part of the problem is that humans do not properly care for their animals. They get a puppy or kitty, and as soon as it becomes a problem rather than properly training it they ditch it. That, and people don't properly care for their pets in general even if they do keep them.
