Bob Berg was an absolutely AMAZING horn player. His death was HORRIBLE. Randy Brecker had a beautiful uluogy and it was well deserved. His potential was infinite and i am so sorry that he was not able to reach it. He could have touched the stars and beyond with his expressive musicality. He was a horn player respected and embraced by even the great Michael Brecker. I would have LOVED to see where he would have gone in his later years...
Bob showed us he was a heavy weight champion on the Tenor (& Soprano) Sax! Very cool how Miles shows his respect to Bob by sending him frontstage to receive the applaus and grabbing his chest at the end...
Bob was tragically killed in a road traffic accident in East Hampton, NY while driving to buy groceries with his wife. The person who crashed into his car was driving a cement truck that accidentally skidded on ice...
@Giltribe thanks for the info and just to bad such genuine but also stupid car accidents are due to the lost of lots of people and in this case a very popular and respected musician like he was.
OK, might be wrong, I've never been sure what year it was, always thought it was around 1982 but could not find exact info, sorry will make changes ;-)
The drummer is Vince Wilburn - Miles' nephew. He was generally regarded as a poor drummer. I seem to remember reading Miles' autobiography a long time ago and he said that he had to sack Vince because he kept losing the rhythm. It's fair to say that he got into the band because of family connections. Dennis Chambers would have been incredible to see in this band.
I don't think you'll find this on a official DVD. Miles had a lot of changes those days with the crew he worked with, this is one of my favs but I don't have the title which may be a bit stupid but its one of my oldest recordings and one of the best as well. No wonder you have the same opinion, have your fun with this like you can enjoy it HQ till now!
Wonderful!

Bob was cookin'! Miles looked like he almost wanted to pull the plug. Who's show is it anyway? R. I. P. Bob. And R.I.P. Miles.
