I've been telling people for years who weren't in Portland from 1976-78 (and later, from 1990-92) how Blazermania at its best has always been a cut above your average city's infatuation with a winning sports team. With this wonderful video, you can get a taste of why.
We got screwed last year with the ping pong balls and still ended up with the two best rookies from last year, that's not luck, that's called skills. Karma is just coming back around for us. FYI, we were heading in the right direction with Roy, Aldridge and the rest of the youngsters already, this is just icing on the cake. Go Blazers!

Read between the lines: They were cheering because it was Boston and Memphis, the two main teams that tanked at the end of the season to get the #1 pick. I'd cheer that loud if I found that out.

Well, worse teams were popping up, teams that had a better chance at the number one that anything...so everytime, our odds for getting the number one, just got bigger and bigger in everyones eyes. Either way...Great day for a blazer fan!!!

just make sure you don't take a sam bowie "type" player over a jordan "type" player AGAIN LOL. in the nba draft you're actually SUPPOSED to take the BETTER player instead of the crappy 1, tell your front office not to take joaquim noah instead of greg oden LOL. you're actually supposed to take greg oden ok, just so you don't get confused & i know it's hard for you LOL.

This shows how stupid the NBA lottery is. Is there any other sport in the entire world that has a draft lottery similar to this? It's just stupid as far as I'm concerned, and just a stupid PR stunt.
But way-to-go Portland. Make the NBA look stupid by giving the #7(?) team the #1 pick.

You have it completely backwards - this actually makes the NBA look great. It shows clearly that tanking does not pay. All of the teams who sold out their fanbase and tanked for ping-pong balls have zip to show for it. Nice to know that your favorite team will take your ticket money and purposefully throw games for the CHANCE to get a player who may or may not be successful. Don't worry, I'm sure Spencer Hawes will look much better in Celtics green than Greg Oden would have.

Agreed.. I think this was rigged to show Celtics and Memphis and any other team in the future that TANKING purposely will not guarentee anything.
The West now looks scary in the future with the two Big men in Yao and Oden.
While east has good but not dominating big men in Dwight Howard and Chris Bosh.

it's ok to hate us... Success is the best revenge. we sucked now we don't, deal with it. so keep cheering for the L**ers or who ever you like and remember that the Blazers just got better than your team. oh and whoever still uses the Jail Blazers diss is a stupid fuck who obviously doesn't pay attention to sports and has no sense of humor. we haven't been the Jail Blazers for like 3 or 4 seasons now, so do yourself a favor and turn off the Oxygen channel and watch ESPN. Educate yourself.

im from chicago originally, but lived in portland/beaverton for a long time. Glad to see you guys got some support. portland is a very underrated sports city ( i still think they should have an NHL team playing in the garden)

I've been telling people for years who weren't in Portland from 1976-78 (and later, from 1990-92) how Blazermania at its best has always been a cut above your average city's infatuation with a winning sports team. With this wonderful video, you can get a taste of why.

We got screwed last year with the ping pong balls and still ended up with the two best rookies from last year, that's not luck, that's called skills. Karma is just coming back around for us. FYI, we were heading in the right direction with Roy, Aldridge and the rest of the youngsters already, this is just icing on the cake. Go Blazers!
