  • Seriously, you cannot only her the music, but literally FEEL it! Awesome :)

  • AWESOME VIDEO AND DRUMMING.. THUMBS UP & PEACE.. AMUNRA...

  • I love this! I t reminds me of really intense moments in movies. You know something badass is about to happen.

  • These folks have a very serious training regimen. The festival they have on Sado Island (Niigata prefecture) has put the island on the map. Superb!

  • @rainforezt cool don't you think so

  • Kodo is the group name - it is Taiko drumming

  • isint this taiko drumming?

  • Asians.

  • it's great

  • Must see them live, the videos just don't give you the full feeling...

If you have the opportunity to see any Japanese drumming, do so. It's overwhelming.

  • Thumps up if u came here from watching the great kodo wow song <.<

  • @PsykoFeen fail?

  • Saw this crowd in Leith Town Hall as part of The Edinburgh Festival in the '80s. My then girlfriend (now wife) got the tickets. I remember thinking "what on earth is she taking me to see?". It was mind blowing, thank the gods for Youtube and all the other fans

  • i saw them last night...they were amazing.

  • I saw them last night at the IU Auditorium. Great performance.

  • Is a special combination, strenght and rhythm

  • Perfect idea for my pep rallys; I'll kidnap and hide away our drum team and play some Kodo on the speakers. Taiko drums FTW!

  • Aura of Endurance ftw

  • 18 people where downstairs trying to sleep

  • i LOL'd at 2:06 LOLOLOLOL! XD

  • Thumbs up if you thought this was going to be a video with Tauren.

  • You see that fellow in the back row, the one with the shaved head? You see him again behind the seated drummer during Yatai Bayashi, too. His name is Eiichi Saito and we are friends... at least I think we are. He's been playing taiko professioinally for more than 25 years.

  • This makes my schools hip-hop drum line look like kids playing with twigs and buckets. Now I'll laugh when i see them! LOVE KODO!!

  • why hiphop drummers has over 7mil n this cant get past 400k is beyond me seen em live and they are amazing :)

  • Have seen them twice. Completely blown away on both occasions. And my ears are still ringing ;-)

    A W E S O M E !

  • These guys came to my High School. Of course my narrow-minded classmates couldn't appreciate them like I did as they snickered amongst themselves because they thought it was "wierd" and "lame." Unable to understand anything outside of their School, let alone their culture and country.

  • For just $19.99, you too can own The Ab Drum. Want an 8-pack? Want to be the most jacked guy at the gym? Then use the Ab Drum from Ronco! Just $1199.99 for shippng! But wait! Act now and we'll send you 2 Ab Drums so you and your best friend can both get ripped at the same time!

  • That guy without a shirt must have been getting an intense ab workout :)

  • I saw a video about this.

It said that if you want to be that kind of drummer, than you have to spend 5 years at a boot camp. The students in that video had to practice from 6 am, to atleast 12 pm [correct me if I'm wrong] at night.

    It was crazy.

  • @FruitLoopFan technically 12pm is noon, if you meant midnight then it's 12am. so saying 12pm at night makes no sense.

  • it's very beautiful but...i still think they should've rode in on kodo mounts.

  • they're awesome! i watched them years ago.

  • I lucked out when I bought a cd of these drummers at the Acropolis. They rock the house, literally!!!! Woo hoo!

  • where is the giant kodo?

  • damn that guy was ripped at the end

  • Just back from their concert in Dublin, epic!! Well done!

  • Was there last night in B'stoke aswell - Brilliant - absolutely perfect synchronisation.

  • Saw them in the UK last night...absolutely AWESOME. Sooooo disciplined and so deft. I left with ringing ears, but worth every decibel!

  • they are so amazing. They were in Denmark so i was of cause in to see them. amazing!! the big drom is just sooo! cool!! XD

  • ROLL ON CAMBRIDGE MARCH 2ND!!!!!

  • :) we'll be there too :)

  • im gonna watch them next week, so awesome!

  • Finally getting to see them live in March in Basingstoke UK=been waiting nearly 20 years for our schedules to coincide. They are stunning. I play drums but have never called myself a 'drummer' after I first saw them on TV.Cant wait...

  • Awesome song!

  • this will always bring me goosebumps and this will always remind me of house of flying daggers and fearless with jet li. so intense

  • I saw them in Detroit at the Fox Theatre I *think*. I was about 12 years old at the time and yes, they make that much of an impression.

Now its 18 year later and I still remember that performance. I have always told my friends the three loudest sounds I have heard in my life are a B2 bomber, the Kodo Drummers and the cars at the Indy 500.

  • I saw them live in 1987 in London ! They were incredible !

  • wow. i wish i could see them live. must be amazing:)

  • this show is amazing! I have seen two time...

  • These guys are amazing live!

  • Their sounds are not for our ears. Their vibrations directly vibrate our bodies.

  • @Bossofsardine - their music goes straight through my soul. Absolutely fantastic!

  • The first part is from a song called "Chonlima", that it means "One Thousand League Horse".

I'm sure that if I ever seen that piece complete, I will die of extreme love.

  • is cool aber was is daran so schwer?

  • idiot.

    you have absolutely no idea.

I suggest you try beating a taiko like a madman for one minute and post your apologies once you get it.

  • Fantastic..

  • The first part is a piece I don't recognize. The second is an arrangement of "Yatai Bayashi." The seated drummers usually ride inside large floats during the Yatai procession through Chichibu, which lies to the northwest of central Tokyo.

  • These guys are Olympic level athletes. Incredible! I've been drumming a long time and that was intense. Can't miss'em next tour.

  • they will give you +2 damage

  • ROFL

  • @poy2xgelo More like blessing of haiiti:P

  • look at 3:27 ;)

  • where is this?

  • dude, you gotta be so friggin athletic to do that. especially the one where they're laying down in a half sit-up position halfway through the video. I saw these guys in concert a couple years ago and it was ridiculous, they're so talented.

  • I just saw them tonight at Norton's Center! They were amazing!!

  • AWESOMENESS FROM 0:01 TO 3:42

  • HAHAHHAHAHAH xD

    YEAH FOR ME TO :D

  • wow that was awesome, around 2:06 I felt like running in a bamboo forest with a sword.

  • at 2:09 you feel the cold steel of my blade running across your skull.

  • sorry that was just bamboo, I flash step you and sliced off your arm at 2:12

  • I love doing everything exactly three seconds after what the person before me did.

  • omg you watch too much movies XD

  • No way can you "get it" just watching it on Youtube - the quality just isn't there. Having seen Kodo live several times, the power that these guys are able to generate is phenomenal - enough to make your ears hurt.

  • And the physicality of it all and the stamina is also incredible - for example, starting at 2:06 in this video - you might not be able to tell but the guy playing the drum on the left of the screen is holding his torso about 30 degrees up off the ground using nothing but his abdominal muscles for several minutes as he's striking that drum with huge amounts of power.

  • FOR THE FUCKING HORDE!

    (+2 damage)

  • Lol WOW xD

  • Lol, every Orc army needs its Kodo drummers... it raises the troops' spirits :)

  • you do reallise that i was just kidding for what i sayd erlyer i just laughed so much of that commment i had to steal it but i aggree with this one even more " Now that's the true power spirit given to drumming... -_- "

  • I prefer yamato drummers...

  • hey idiot, these are JAPANESE KODO DRUMMERS! get it through your thick head and learn some culture!

  • These are them and I should know since I'm half Japanese! Don't get us mixed up.

  • this is real life not a video game nerd

  • awesome!!

  • Now that's the true power spirit given to drumming... -_-

  • Originally called Ondekoza, roughly translatable as DEMON DRUMMERS!! These guys are awesome!! and it is true about how they train. I saw a documentary about them once and they do things like get up at 5 am then run 10 kms everyday, train 8 hours, use chopsticks with their non-writing hand, tie boards to their backs to fix posture etc.

Typically hard core japanese totally dedicated to their chosen profession.

  • When I lived in Japan, my buddy and I took my van on the ferry over to Sado Island to do some camping and whatnot once. We ended up taking a wrong turn at one point and wandering into the compound where these guys live and train. There were dudes all around the yard meditating and doing push ups and shit... one guy was doing pull-ups from a tree limb by his finger tips.

Those guys don't fuck around. Never seen 'em perform, though...

  • i used to live in yakota AFB, Japan, and when i went to the elementary school there, one of the taiko drummer groups would come once a year i think it was, it was so awsome

  • Lol. Almost sounds like black metal with a bunch of blast beats. Sounds good either way.

  • ag yamuluyom lan şu na

  • i saw them yesterdag! omg it was amazing! its defently a must see!

  • I recently saw em, it was awesome. Video doesn't do it honor, you need to FEEL it :D

  • yea.. i can imagine. Must be present to realy apreciate it

  • you are so RIGHT! being there in person allows you to experience the power of the drum go right through your body!!!

  • definitely. it's intense.

  • don't know if they still have their annual summer festival in japan (island of sado, niigata prefecture) but if so, it is absolutely AWESOME! not to be missed!

  • yes, every august on sado. this year will be the 21st Earth Celebration. The guests are coming from Brazil

  • Dialect at Sado island is very interesting. Do you know anime "Urusei yatsura". Ram used their dialect.

  • Very nice!

  • I have seen them several times but it has been a few years. They are awesome!

  • I saw them in Liverpool last night too. Absolutely fantastic!

  • Likewise I saw them last night, they were superb... Shame about all the arrogant people coughing in the audience though.

  • I saw the Kodo drummers last night, in Liverpool. It was a fantastic show; energetic, colourful, spectacular and deafening (in places). If you get the chance to see them, do it. You won't regret it.

  • saw the kodo drummers last night (28/01/08) and i absolutely loved it. So skillful!!!

    A MUST SEE SHOW!

  • i love to LISTEN as much as i love to play.

    Thank You, Paul.

  • This is the one I saw on Wednesday Mar 21!!! I loved the drumming the girls did.

  • wow that was fast! 0.0 i taped the end of it last night ^_^ it was soo awesome. my fav part was the girl singing

  • Hi. my fav part was the gils singing too. fantastic! The performance is "MINI-NO-KAZE".

  • I saw Kodo in concert in Richmond Va. about a month ago. This is one of those shows you have to see live to get the full experience. I really enjoyed the girl singing, too. If you get a chance to see them, Go!
