  • creativity activates a lot of healthy brain connections

  • Chuck Schuldiner is alive!! Where the fuck is your guitar man?!?!!?

  • it helps me to get really comfortable first, have tea, take a shower and stuff. and then the same as you, i put myself in a situation where i can't get out so i have no other option than to create something

  • Sometimes, when I'm doing art, whether it be painting or just drawing, I like to believe that nothing around me exists and I let myself develop a place in my head in which suits my fancy. It can be colorful and bold, or even dark and dim - Or both.

Sometimes I take any object, draw it, and then massively manipulate it in ways that would realistically in our world be seen as fictional or fantastical.

Some people call them doodles, but no matter, they are your creations! A whole new world.

  • You have a such a unique perspective about everything.....I really enjoy listening to you. I never thought of drawing in that way (and i've been drawing for a long time) but i'm going to try it. Very cool...

  • mhm! i haven't really thought about my approach to making things, but there is a pattern. i am always very serious even if it's just cutting carrots. i want everything i make to be very good because i get a lot of energy out of well prepared things

  • love ur hair

  • I think if you create any kind of art or music, or whatever it may be, if you can find an outlet for it, either through the internet or elsewhere, it is a really good way of motivating yourself to do more, once you have even just one piece of art or music availiable to people, it just automatically makes you want to create more, I've found that works with music and I'm in the process of trying it with painting!

  • To Get Things Done I usually have the computer turned off,

I might be trying out some recipe that sounds interesting, or trying to jot down images that seem to appear on my wallpaper whenever the light causes to create certain irregular creases, or patterns of some sort.

Sometimes I glue things on cardboard which from the first glance don´t have anything in common, but eventually there you are...a collage of magnificent content.

  • The office is the best show in the world and good story haha

  • My discipline is guitar. I use a quote to drive myself to do it every day (attributed to Dizzy Gillespie): "If I put the horn down for a day, I know it; If I put the horn down for two days, my peers know it; If I put the horn down for three days, the world knows it." ...Rock on.

  • Man!! you are such an inspiration! I 'm in love w/u spiritually :) stay beautiful ...

  • I would like to do more drawings and animations on my own (as opposed to doing other peoples animations for money). . . But the problem is that I am so interested in so many things that I usually waste all my time on the internet watching documentaries, reading things and watching Youtube videos. . and only devote a small amount of time to actually creating things or studying. But really I can't force myself to create. . I can only do it when the call to do it is very strong...

  • I hate talking too, especially when you accidently switch the letters around and end up making up words... Since my mind tends to wander all over my math homework, I try different positions of my drawings in their very primitive doodle format, working out what goes where... the vids of my horse drawings came from doodles and oddly enough from figure drawing in art class. There are good days then there are bad days.

  • Thank you for helping me to realize that art and drawing is a very important aspect of our lives with which we should take on with more enthusiasm. Recently I've lost interest in my artwork almost completely. So maybe I'll try to imagine myself in a dungeon, alone and dying, waiting for that one person to find me. Who knows, maybe the art will inspire them to live on and survive as the last person on Earth. :)

  • its not a good thing to scare yourself into drawing.. if you have a passion for it then sure.. drawing is fantastic but pretending your gonna die.. HAHA.. i find that so funny xD your cute though with your little imagination.. but what would happen if the person who was looking for you.. died as well ? ahaaaa. :L

  • I love drawing/painting but when I wanted to pursue a career as an artist, my mother said I was crazy, that I wasn't gonna make a living out of selling paintings. I ended up listening to her rather than my self, so I decided to forget about my dream. I'm currently working on my degree in business, but I plan to study art as a hobby and to start drawing again. I realized that no one can tell you what to do, you have to build your own identity and to listen to your heart. Thanks for your video!

  • hahaha me too :D!

  • Please marry me.

    :3

  • That little dimple in your chin is so cute! ;D

  • @TwistOfCain01 LOL i forget that dimple is there all the time. and i'll look in the mirror sometimes and be shocked when i see see it and think "oh...huh...interesting, i don't remember that being there, but ok."

  • @MicahBuzan Hahaha, reading that made my day. :D

  • I really like what your talking about in this video. Nice work.

  • part two: It's not the time for it. *Then* after you have let things fly for quite a while (varies of course) let the "judge" in you start to make some honing or changing or even scrap the whole thing and start over. {falafel icicle?} ((:

Just my 2 cents. Love your work! ~cg

  • Hi Micah. You asked for tips to get things done at the end of this/your v-log. The thing that helps me write or play music or make videos (all things I just do and don't pretend to be any kind of so called expert) is to just start doing it. Nothing but a slight idea (sometimes not even that) of what I may be after. Let the "child" or the "id" or the play full non judgmental inner you loose. Let the imagination go where it may. Don't let any judgment come in. Continued ....

  • Micah! This was so great!

I love listening to you speak. I was completely engrossed in what you were saying all throughout this video. Your tip was outstanding. I can absolutely apply that to writing, especially when I get stuck.

I can't wait until your next vlog...

  • thank you very much! im energized by your compliments.

  • Lolol...I found it amusing, too, when you said 'philosiphical' in vid #1! I didn't wanna say anything bec. I wasn't sure how you'd take it! But it was cute! ... "Dude are you serious!?", hahah! You deliver some great lines, such as at 2:29.

I appreciate your advice on drawing. I splurged on Adobe CS4 a few months ago and have been badly slacking! Then it becomes increasingly intimidating & I procrastinate. Then I start getting scared of the task that I used to associate with pleasure. Argh!

  • awesome lol

  • Its quite ironic you learned a life lesson with the word philoshophical :D its a great lesson thou we do all learn from eachother regardless age or gender.great post man.

  • good observation! yeah, that is very ironic. i hope to learn many more life lessons.

    thanks for watching.

  • These videos are needed right now.. your subs will rocket soon.

  • thanks for the encouragement as always. im inspired by how you so freely speak infront of the camera.

  • Hi, my friend stufish4040 directed me here. You are a very philosophical guy. A refreshing and free spirit! Keep it that way by never labelling yourself an 'expert'. I think you are a great comedian. You made your sister laugh, you made your friend laugh and by what is posted here I imagine you have brought a smile to many faces.

  • thank you very much.

yeah, i agree about the importance of never developing an expert's persona. and it's equally important to never become insecure , which i think is the driving force behind one who calls himself an "expert".

    thanks for sharing!

  • Great tip Micah. Even though I don't have problems getting me to draw I think that it was a great tip and I may even use it some day.

Lovely video. Very honest and sincere

  • thank you.

you like to draw? you should post some videos on youtube of your drawings, that would be cool!

    -micah

  • This is an epic vlog, Micah, one of the best I've seen :] You had me in stitches with the whole 'philosophical' thing and then you went all philLOsophical in the second half! You also showed "Catcher . .' which is one of my fave books ( see 'book reviews' on my channel). Great job, man! 5*****, faved and shared. Woot!

  • thanks alot for all the encouragement. im glad you enjoyed it enough to share.

yeah, i loved "catcher in the rye". probably the least pretentious book iv read. not that i read pretentious books, it's just that book is particularly honest.

i'm gonna have to watch you review of it. have you read any other books by j. d. salinger?

    -micah

  • tell your sister she should be more confident about being cooler than you and stop this "shall we ask mom..."

  • ha alright, will do. but she's pretty confident really. she's probably smarter than me. she is really smart for her age, i think.

    thanks for watchin

    -micah

  • you are a good example of someone younger knowing so much more than an older person. Interesting what you said about the word 'artist' and how it shouldn't exist - I feel the same about the word 'musician' It makes me feel intimidated when I'm around people who give themselves this title - we are all musicians and artists. On the subject of drawing and art in general I have often thought that that is what will give a person immortality - if they leave something of themselves in their art.

  • You are the cutest thing ever, the awkwardness in your voice, makes me smile. You're like me, in a lot of ways! Good job, people mess up on a lot of words. No worries sunshine! Good attempt though! <3

  • id rather be found with drawings than without.

  • you're awkward-ness with speaking just makes you that much cuter :)

you have a really cute personality.

  • I know Jessa! He's just amazing! :)

  • Thanks Micah,,,great tip...really living in the moment....and like the fact that You gave Your Sister props:)

  • "The Office Party"- Awesome :D

  • aah!! props to your sister!! your mispronunciation drove me crazyyyyy

! i have this annoying habit of correcting people's grammar and pronunciation. but i wouldnt DARE correct yours, considering the way YOU have with words. you're the songwriter, not me.

i'd much rather mispronounce it myself :p

  • and btw, before i get bashed..i intentionally type without caps. ;)

  • You are the cutest thing in the world.
