  • Wow!

  • It's pretty and all, and the singing is lovely, but its such a lot of weird heathen nonsense: swinging that incense around , its just a magical rite, no more, and it has zero to do with any teachings of Christ, mixed-up and confusing as they are. This is paganism, that's all. Which is fine, but that's what it is. Can't really see Jesus hanging out in a church like this.

  • @littleniyah The incense is a visual sign of the blessing of God and our prayers rising to the Heavens. Also it mostly smells good.

  • @littleniyah Well guess what - He is present in the Eucharist! Perhaps before being a complete bigot you should actually research your Christian faith - it will lead you straight to the Catholic Church. I'm sure Christ would be happy with you calling His Church 'pagan' simply because we are following His teachings and instructions. I would rather follow His Church than some man-made protestant heresy. Severing your ties with the apostles does not get you closer to Christ.

  • @littleniyah You realize that the Mass in this form came into use in the 6th Century back when there was only ONE Christian Church (The Catholic Church btw) and made the official Mass for the whole Latin rite of the Church in 1572 when Protestantism didn't even exist? Many of the rites and prayers in this Mass go back to apostolic times.

  • its time for reason to prevail, and for logical people to destroy the savage cave men who are afraid of thunder and lightning- c'mon, we both know its not "god."

  • Now this is a beautiful mass

  • Western Liturgy at its very best...

  • very moving

  • very moving

  • So many alter boys, more varity for the priest to rape after mass!

  • How Extensive is the Problem of clergy Sex Abuse in the Jewish Community?

Wayward Clergy: Is it Rampant or an Aberration?

Eugene L. Meyer & Richard Greenberg

NY(JTA)-Some experts estimate that "between 18 and 39% of Jewish clergy are involved in Sexual harassment, sexual Exploitation and/or sexual Misconduct -the Same Percentage as Non-Jewish clergy," according to the 2002 book "Sex, Lies, and Rabbis: Breaking a Sacred Trust" written by psychotherapist Charlotte Rolnick Schwab.'

  • why is the priest facing the altar? I thought facing the altar was a Byzantine divine liturgy thing. Please clarify this to me, I'm confused

    thanks alot in advance

  • @noraneka This is seen in Latin Masses, pre vatican and post vatican II, also in High Anglican Church's and Anglican-Use Church's.

  • @noraneka Facing the Apse/East/same direction as the people (I think that's what you mean since facing the altar is pretty obvious :p) used to be the tradition in the Roman rite as well, until it was decided at the second Vatican Council that everyone was also allowed to say mass facing the people from then on.

  • How beautiful. A great French Catholic king will soon rule the world. Deo Gratias!

  • this is not the way christ wanted the mass to be

  • @niallsi this is the way holy spirit wants the mass to be

  • @niallsi

this is the way that Christians want their mass to be

  • this is the way that Christians want their mass to be

  • @juliushotico As a born again Bible believing Jewish Christian, I can gaurentee you that I speak for all truly Orthodox (Bible Believing) Christians, This makes a mockery out of the cross! This is in direct Violation of Hebrews 7, 9,and 10.Why must you twist the Last Supper account (where He says do in memory...),John 6,1 Corinthians 10-11 to try and prove your false doctrine?Further mor,why in the Latin Roman rite, people are refused the wine, when in the Roman/Byzantine rites they are permitted?

  • @Menechem Trying to use the New Testament which was written in the Catholic Church against that same Church does not work.

  • @Menechem Trying to use the New Testament which was written in the Catholic Church against that same Church isn't going to work. Perhaps you should read more about the early Church.

  • @pewpewaliens You mean how the Schism happened because of your church adding the false doctrine of purgatory, changing the words of the creed, and adding books (Tobit, Judith, Maccabees etc.) to the Word of God. Perhaps its you who needs to study! I was born Jewish, adopted and Raised Catholic, my Bishop took me under him at confirmation as he felt what I was learning in Religious studies was to baisic. I have studied. I have also studied Judaism,I can tell you,the added books are not Scripture!

  • @Menechem Secondly, regarding your example; Time, days, etc. cab only be used as metaphors for our condition after death. Time as we know it most probably doesn't exist anymore after death. Aside from that, the baptism of desire and the remission of sins described in the Bible means that the repentant sinner doesn't need to be purified anymore anyway. In other words, according to Catholic theology, he doesn't have to go to purgatory at all, if I'm not mistaken.

  • @pewpewaliens That whole 100's of enominations cargument is old and tired. The original Schism happened because of Rome adding to the cannon of Scripture, as well as inventing the false doctrine of Purgatory, and changing the creed! This legitimate authority, wouldn't be the same authority that aloud my family to go through Hell during the Inquisition, would it? This authority is not the same authority that invented false doctrines as Transubstantion (Innocent III) and Papal infalibilty, is it?

  • @pewpewaliens I was raised in the Church, have 2 years of seminary under my belt (I was born Jewish and adopted and raised in Rome), I do not say this to boast but to tell you my background. Purgatory (I am borrowing from the Catholic Encyclopedia as its an excellent source) 'temporal punishment for those who, departing this life in God's grace, are, not entirely free from venial faults, or have not fully paid the satisfaction due to their transgressions.' thus he still would have had to go.

  • @Menechem The reason why he would have still of had to go, was because when he came to faith, he did not have enough works in life, that although forgiven, he still had venial sins. Where the Encyclopedia does make errors is when it say that all protestants teach the 'Middle State', as a Baptist, and a soon to be seminarian, I refute this false teaching, I am a Clavinist. Praying for the Dead is nt supported by Scripture,& Matt. 12.32,is in reference to the perpatrator damned for all eternity.

  • @pewpewaliens Your 17 and I commend you on your knowledge, but I also pray for you salvation!

  • @Menechem I think continuing debating with you in public isn't going to work as you have actively studied religion (2 years in seminary). Nevertheless, I just have to add that the "schism" you're talking about (assuming you're talking about the reformation), wasn't directly caused by neither the canon, nor the doctrine of purgatory. The deuterocanonical books were simply viewed as canon by the Hellenic Jewish converts, the first Christians, 1500 years before the reformation.

  • @pewpewaliens I see that when challenged you clam up, interesting! Remember, your cult added to God's Word, changed the creed, and introduced false doctrines such as (Purgatory [Luke 23:40-43 disproves this myth])!. I am praying for your salvation!

  • @Menechem First off all, thank you for praying for my soul. I shall pray for you as well.

The bible is a great gift from God, and can help us grow in many different ways. However, I see no merit in trying to use this Book to challenge the legitimate authority of the (very much visible) Church of Christ. This only leads to discord and schism, as attested by the thousands of different Protestant denominations all as certain of their individual interpretations as you are, and detracts from Truth.

  • @pewpewaliens The Word of God, is a collection of 66 books (according to the Original cannon as used by the Eastern 'Orthodox' saints, and Orthodox Protestant saints) that is 'profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work' (2 Timothy 3.16-17 HCSB), but one must be open to the Holy Spirit and not let ones feelings/emotions get involved and thus lead to twisting (like what your cult does).

  • @Menechem "But one must be open to the Holy Spirit and not let ones feelings/emotions get involved and thus lead to twisting." Thousands of times more easily said than done. "This legitimate authority, wouldn't be the same authority that aloud my family to go through Hell during the Inquisition, would it?" I most certaintly am. It's the continuation of the Church that stood in Jesus way as Satan, betrayed Him for 30 pieces of gold, and betrayed him three times. Still Christ deemed them worthy.

  • @pewpewaliens You're twisting Scripture and the church's teachings. As I said I am done with you!

  • @Menechem This is my last response here, If you took the time to read this discussion, I recommend the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Menechem I refer to my profile page. God bless.

  • Youre an apostate Jew here to destroy the Faith via the Protocols.

Protest-ants and jews knew the final empire in the scriptures will be 100% roman catholic, so the true gospel can be preached to the entire world before JEW anti christ.

this is why they have so viruently attacked the catholic church its; peoples its monasteries its governments, its properties. They well know the whore is Judaism/ Occult judaism.

You dont worship Jesus Christ, but Baphomet / Lucifer.

    Bible worship is Satanic

  • this is not the way christ wanted the mass to be

  • The Last Sun aft Pent is always the Sunday before 1st Sun of Advent! Error by someone not using a St.Andrew's Missal (2,200 pp.) with perpetual calendar.(1937). True Mass was forbidden (Pius V) on 11/4/68 replaced with Montini's invention without valid consecration of Species; many mixed up people on Utube list mostly too young to have true story. When your elders are gone only books remain; internet will remove all memory of doctrine without texts printed before V-2 on valid doctrine.

  • It is the doctrine in the NO Mass which is heretical & invalid, not the language; NO transubstantiation was invalidated by Montini & forced on 11/4/68. All NO Mass no matter how "pretty" is graceless without Body & Blood offered to the Father. Poor Novus Ordo, duped by an evil hierarchy who perpetrate the continuous lie. Priests are in bondage unable to speak truth today, even if there was courage; but they have lost the Faith now, taking millions with them. see lyn1136 yahoo

  • This is the way it should be---Mass should lift us heavenward!

  • best Asian women **lushfmlk.info**

  • Such a beautiful Mass. I have served many of them over my time as a young boy. At that time I was the Head Alter boy. And at all these Mass we had over 6 Alter boys.

  • @butchscorner I totally changed my view on reality, so please disregard all my postings and opinions. XOXO. Mar.

  • BEWARE! some will make liturgical abuses on the Traditional Mass. So wipe out all charismatics

  • @SuperRay1111 I am charimatic and I love also traditional latin masses. There is no contradiction

  • Saint Nicholas du Chardonneret in Paris, France. I served mass there.

  • Such a beautiful Mass, I've always wanted to celebrate a traditional Latin Mass like this one. Mass is one of the most beautiful things on Earth to me.

  • I'm surprised by the enormous number of altar boys. I'm a young man but had the luck to serve with a traditionalistic priest (no, not from the SSPX) but four altar boys at High Mass was more or less the maximum. At all other Masses, only two altar boys. I'm also surprised by the prominent role of the two acolyths (I think they are). One of them even incensed the Priest and the congregation.

  • Hi, I am in UK. As a youngster I served at Mass.. especially at Sunday Mass we were all encouraged to be on the sanctuary even though we may not have had an office. When there was a high Mass we had incense...the thurifer with the thurible would incense the priest then the altar servers then the whole congreagation. Hope that this helps.

  • The Missal of Pius V did not replace the elder Dominican and Ambrosian rites. The Missal of Paulus VI (the present post-Vaticanum II rite) did not replace the Missal of Johannes XIII (= the reviewed Missal of Pius V). In every Roman-Catholic church this old rite can be celebrated. The present Pope even encourages it and expresses that the Missal of Johannes XIII and the Missal of Paulus VI are both different expressions of the same Faith. I see the beauty in both Missals.

  • Really!! Gregorian Chant accompanied by an organ - tres protestante!!

  • Superbe.

  • What music piece is being sung at the beginning?

  • It's Dextera Domini.

  • Dextera domini exaltavit me.

  • Hey, if this Mass is accoding to the Missal of Pope St Pius V, 1570, it is indeed "Tridentine"; but then this church would not be in communion with Rome. I suspect that it is the Missal of Blessed John XXIII, 1962, which makes it the "Extraordinary Form" of the ONE Roman Rite; if this is so, they are in communion with Rome. But then, it is incorrect to call this a "Tridentine Rite" Mass!!

  • This is called the Tridentine Mass because the

Council of Trent standardized the Mass, and it remained relatively unchanged. All editions of the Missal were extremely similar to the Missal of St.Pio P.P. V up until the Mass of Paul VI (yes, even the Novus Ordo mass was similar until 1970).

  • On the matter of the N.O. indeed! The Liturgy of the eucharist is still, in the documents (2002), assumed to be 'ad orientem'. However, between 1570 and 1910 many things were excised, e.g. in 1570 the sanctuary was cut off from the nave by a rood screen (present exampli are Canterbury UK, Albion France). No layman may do anything, say anything or see anything. This was removed. the dialogue Mass was came in c. 1910. Do compare the 1570 with 1910 & 1962 missals & Pontificale, do you read Latin?

  • The difference is between 1570 and 1910 you have a period of 340 years. Organic development of the liturgy is different than the radical departures taken in 1970 after a period of only about 5 years. But in all truth, I guess names don't matter too much? When people say "Tridentine Mass" although it may not be completely correct, they think of the Mass before the radical changes.

  • Either way, I'm no schismatic and I try to avoid the SSPX. They're way too far right for me. Even if every clergy and layman were still taking the Oath against Modernism they wouldn't be as radical as the SSPX. SSPX tend to act like the old Methodists and typically preach hellfire, along with their own support for totalitarianism, and Jewish world dominance conspiracy theories (and of course, good ol' holocaust denial). And yes, I have been to SSPX masses.

I just go to a diocesan EF every week.

  • Lol..!! Indeed mate! However, being a classics major and a RC classical philiosopher, to me, words mean what they mean: e.g. "Tridentine" = 1570-1910 RC Liturgy (ex hypothesi). Hey, I went to Mass the other day ,Novus Ordo, and they were 'ad orientem' at the Liturgy of the Eucharist in Latin and one could see the organic connexion between the 1962 and 1970/2002 Missal, It was N.O. strictly as per documenta. Would that this be the norm & clergy stop experimenting! Yeah, I love the EF as well..:)

  • Wouldn't strict nomenclature dictate the use of "Ordinary Form of the Roman Rite" instead of the former term Novus Ordo? Or could Novus Ordo be just the familiar term to many as is Tridentine? If one is to be re-termed then it would stand to argue for the other as well? Afterall "Novus Ordo" has all the negative implications and connotations that coincide with the abuse and banality of how it has been celebrated since its' inception, or should I say impostion.

  • Quite... "Novus Ordo" just means 'New Order'. So, yes, this ought to be religated to obscurity in favour of Ordinary Form. Note that rumpranger75 uses "EF" for Extraordinary Form. By logical extrapolation, Ordinary Form=OF. Therefore, yes, I would argue for "EF" and "OF" in casual discussion and the FULL proper names for serious discourse. One must always strive for authoritative clarity rather than vague popular sentiment ....

  • Oh! regarding the negative implications of 'Novus Ordo': Per documenta Vaticana, the Liturgy of the Eucharist should be 'ad orientem'. Bishops have misused and abused their authority in interpreting these documenta. So, I would say that when the O.F. is done 'per documenta' one can see the organic link between the E.F. and the O.F. Sadly, in present practice, this is far from the case! It is hoped that the recent juxtaposition of both Forms would facilitate some muchneeded crosspollenation!

  • i think they call it thus because it's embossed on every new missal for the mass after vatican 2.

  • Kind of like stereo, hi -fi, or radio........ariel or antenna......jeans, denims, dungories....This Mass is also referred to as Usus Antiqior, Gregorian Mass (By Cardinal Hoyos), Traditional Mass, Holy Mass and finally Tridentine......Tridentine just happens to be a term people are familiar with and it is easier to say than "Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite"...I sure people using it mean no disrespect, myself included, but what is it that irks you so bad? Why the strong rebuff?

  • Well, I refer you to the thread of argument between me and 'rumpranger75'. There are rather strong philological AND theological implications to the namenclature you suggest. E.g. a duck egg is an egg, but so is a chicken's egg; the two are eggs, but are they the same thing? No, one is a duck egg; the other, a chicken egg. I am arguing for clarity in terminology as per 'documentae ecclesiae'. Therefore, I dont rebuff, by strongly argue for adherence to Summorum Pontificum... That's all mate.

  • Wow, you are a real "a classics major and a RC classical philosopher" ???? How important !!! I wonder how much you know from experience. Age wise....The Tridentine Mass sounds fine to me because I attended it for many, many years before VII so I know the difference between then and now. I don't need a history book for it.

  • I am indeed sorry that you would stoop to sarcasm and inuendo. We are not talking about 'experience' as you mean, i.e. trying to hold onto a fossilised form of liturgy. Since the living God is just that, living, how can His liturgy be fossilised? This is illogical. Even the 1962 Mass has been revised (by the Magisterium of the Church) to include more prefaces and more prayers (translated from the even more ancient Greek!). Do differentiate between sentiment and living tradition. Read Ben XVIth!

  • I am sorry that I came over sarcastic, that was not the intention. But frankly while reading you hit me as a little arrogant which made me react that way. You should also not turn down the entire SSPX because one blind priest made a real stupid remark. Pray for him instead. To keep the faith one does not have to be a scholar. I was raised Roman Catholic in Holland(1930) where the worst downturn in the Holy Church started. Radicals in the church took over. See what is left of the faith now..Brrrr

  • Now I get a clearer picture! I am English and know the utter wateland which is the Netherlands (with regard to RC liturgy, morals and ethics) except for Vaals Abbey near Aachen. Arh! I dont mean to come across arrogant. But blind, emotional comments from intelligent men, do erk me! 'Fides et Ratio' are two equal wings of the soul. One doesnt have to be a scholar to keep the faith- but we must think. What you mean by 'faith'? In the above, it seems to be 'faith' = 'untouched liturgy'.

  • @ christianvs1 - yes it is the rite according the Missal of the Blessed Johannes XIII, which is is a reviewed version of the Missal of Pius V.

  • vive la sspx, la dernier forteresse catolique

  • real holy Mass, Glory for Traditional Catholic Mass. God Bless brothers and sisters.

  • gay!

  • In what sense? In the traditional sense of "happy", or in the modern perverted sense of "homosexual"? Can you please elaborate - many thanks in advance!

  • q hermoso!! amo la misa tridentina!! viva Cristo rey, y viva lefebvre! y el santo papa benedicto XVI.

    gloria in excelsis deo.

  • Latin Mass is the way to go. No Eucharist Minsters, No Alter Girls, Respect for the Eucharist, No Post Vatican 2 Bullshit.

    God Bless

  • Such a beautiful Mass, perfectly celebrated, wonderful finesse and devotion. The confidence and comfort of both the celebrant and server with the rite is obvious.

    An example to us all!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Sad to read some of the negative comments made here, shows how most people are blind to God's natural beauty and Love of his people.

The Tridentine Rite, now the Extraordinary form of the Roman Rite, is the most sumptuous and most beautiful form of Human worship to the Most High God, hands down. This effort by PROTRADITION must be commended.

The Tridentine Rite of Mass is the only way forward, hopefully, mother church will embrace this form of worship more openly in the very near future.

  • This the true Mass. If it was said everyday in all the churches, it would save more souls from going to hell.

  • Probably not. No one would understand it. No one would be able to apply it to their lives. No one would understand the essence of "ite missa est." "Go! The mass has ended." In other words...I don't think it'd be practical for the every day person (although I would love to regularly go to a Latin mass :).

  • Eh, I think this is over-played. When you go to the Latin Mass for many years, you're sure to pick up on many phrases and liturgical actions. Latin/English missals facilitate understanding. I think the greater barrier to understanding is poor catechesis.

  • I really don't think it matters if the Mass is perfectly celebrated in Latin, or if it is said in contemporary format, I think that repenting for your sins, celebrating the Mass each Sunday, and going to confession is what will determine your heaven or hell status, it doesn't matter if your a Catholic at the Vatican or in the inner city of LA.

  • I agree, this is the hight of the Roman right . . . but I sincerely doubt that the infinite sacrifice of Christ crucifide "would save MORE souls" just because it looks more beautiful to men. Don't you think God sees the same infinite sacrifice offered (regardless of reverence) at a novus ordo mass? Furthermore, do you think that this perfect sacrifice this holy and beautiful sacrifice given to us by God is able to mean less if done any differently, possibly less reverently? Can you judge that?

  • I didn't know you could become homosexual by coming into contact with one! Honestly you are idiots! God forbid homosexual activity, not homosexuality! Do not lie down with another man is activity..you don't have to be gay to do it! God doesn't want a man to lie down with a woman their not mariied to. Both acses are the same. God forbids activity simply because they are not married! Never have i seen the devil corrupt peoples minds than in this American society! Lvoe the video btw!

  • what beauty and flowing grace to see the mass in latin as it should be God Bless

  • What are they singing at the start of this video? It's beautiful.

  • The offertory music here is Cesar Franck's Dextera Domini. The English translation is something along the lines of "the right hand of God sustains and exalts me."

  • Beautiful piece (good work on the part of the choir!), and fits in beautifully with the rest of the Mass!!

  • Merci

  • i'm of another demomination, but this is beautiful

  • buenisimo esto se tendria que difundir mas

  • What about all the Protestant pastors who are rapists, child molestors, adulterers, thieves, and fascists like Jimmy Swaggart, the Bakers, etc. etc. etc. etc.? And they haven't even given a single example of Chrsitian love like Mother Teresa of Calcutta...Omeath, mind your own business...

  • This (Tridentine Mass) is the only perfect act that happen in the surface of earth!!! HOw beautiful the Mass is. Pope St. Pius V codified it as the Mass of the Catholic Church forever!!

  • "He who hears you {Peter} hears me, and he who rejects you, rejects me, and he who rejects me, rejects him who sent me{Lk 10:16} How great is Our God!

  • If all of you understand latin is ok, but not to the hevenly Father God! cause the servise is to talk about Jesus if you know what you're gona say after the prise is saying is just a ruting, you have to pray what your heart needs to say, and those chores, also no one is Holi but God! and Jesus and the Holi spirit, take care everyone us teh evengelic dond't make you sleep!

  • Please, do a grammer check.

  • And, both of you need to do a spell check. :p

  • I'm a bit confused, 38ofk. I did not see a spelling error in my post. Please elaborate.

  • Grammer is an incorrect spelling of grammar.

This is a beautiful Mass. I just found out there is a TLM every sunday a few blocks from my home in an adjacent parish.

  • Oh, praise Jesus! Father in heaven, praise your holy name!

  • love it

  • I pray for the true latin mass to return to the diocese of East Anglia England where the clergy has betrayed the faithfull

  • You could try the next best thing, the Latin novus ordo,It's the main mass at our parish, latin and polyphonic ordianaries and propers, versus orientem, altar rail, everything. We're lukcy,we got A TRADITIONA pastor that has all the masses said ad orientem.

  • Novus ordo in latin and ad orientem, I'd like to see that but in my country it seems there's a lack of interest.

  • looks really cool

i hope we can do the same in our parrish soon

  • Why are none of the women wearing veils? This is Saint-Nicholas du Chardonnet, so why in the world are SSPX women not covering their heads in the presence of the Holy of Holies?

  • I wouldn't say none of the women, rather some of them.

  • Vivat Iesu! Vivat Petrus! Vivat Benedictus XVI!

  • Why do Charismatics act the way the do? Father Bob McDougal was a patient in a psyc.ward in a hospital. He was a alcoholic and drug addict. God instantly healed him. Do you think he has a reason to be happy?

  • OMG!!! you are all missing the point!! what on earth does the Pre vatican II mass have to do with pedophilia, are we going insane here? if some one is pedophile the latin mass isnt going to change him!! this pedophilia is another evil that satan has managed to attack some priests. The Catholic church still continues to maintain christ's love!! and does priests who have comitted such a disgusting act will go to the fires of hell.

  • You don't know that they will go to hell- are you judging?

Homosexuality is a real disease- just like thyroid disease or diabetes. Western medicine is keeping the truth from us because they worship Hermes (winged snake on the stick god).

Open us to the Holy Spirit. Compassion, compassion, compassion. Be the salt- purify, restore, love, heal, praise the Lord.

    Shalom.

  • =,)

  • Seriously, go to VideoGoogle and Search Cristero- Soldiers of Christ. See what "Supreme Government" did to those who fought for religious freedom less than 100 years ago. Funny how we are taught nothing about this in our public schools

  • During the Cristero War, Mexican Catholics asked American Catholics for financial assistance. Many American Catholics ( Including the Diocese of Boston )refused to support them. Homeschooling was outlawed in Mexico. The Catholic Church was not allowed to own property and priests were fined for wearing priestly garments. How is the Boston Diocese doing now? We had better come together!

  • paedophilia was rampant when this mass was the norm I fail to see what difference it makes what rite is used I feel sorry for all the poor abused souls and also for the genuine priests who have to carry on but to me this scandal will taint the rc church for ever and rightly so

  • dont mention paedophilia thats not quite as beautiful

  • Exactly, paedophilia which is so closely related to satanism, homossexuality (92% of the paedophile priests are homossexual, and the link between these very grave sins is known since classical antiquity) and pagan cults - everything became rampant inside the Church since the last Council. In the traditional, eternal Catholic Church - the one represented so well by this wonderful video - the problem doesn't exist.

  • PS: sorry, "homosexuality", and "... everything THAT became rampant...". I'm brasilian and wrote the last note in a hurry.

  • Homosexuality is a disease.

We judge homosexuals because we don't understand how it correlates with many other conditions: physiological, emotional, and spiritual.

  • Wow, talk about "mindboggling". I think you must be infected with a mental disease Leireann to make such a statement and think that yours is justified.

  • @Eatafruit78 Homosexuality is not the disease, SSA is. (same sex attraction) Homosexuality is the sin that you commit when you follow it.

  • @assasincomedy Hello. Hey! I changed all my views on reality, so please disregard all my opinions and comments. I like your name because I am some sort of a comedian. Ciao! Mar.

  • @Eatafruit78 Oh, sorry I'm an idiot, didn't see the 2 years ago sign ;P

  • One wonders how this magnificent rite-- nothing short of a cosmic drama!-- was cast aside under the watch of our bishops. Even if the novus ordo attains excellence and dignity (one day) this rite shoudl be rpeserved. Why? It is beautiful. This is reason enough

  • magnific

  • FANTASTIC!!! The Holy sicrifice of the Mass in latin. Will retorn.

  • The Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, used in the Byzantine Catholic Church, dates from about 300 A.D. Like the Tridentine Mass of the Roman Rite, it too has great beauty and spiritual meaning.

  • In many ways, the Roman Rite has lost its way. The ritual of the Tridentine Mass is important for many, but ritual should not obscure sincerity of belief. The Eastern rites of the church (e.g. Byzantine) have done a much better job of preserving their traditions and practices. Come see some time. We are in communion with Rome just like you.

  • I have always wanted to see an Eastern Rite mass. There are many Eastern Rites within the Catholic Church. I think there is a Ukrainian Catholic Church here I may have to go attend. I was a bit apprehensive because of what laity does during the mass.

  • I know enough of the Bizantine rite. What the laity does is not complicated, at least not more than in the Tridentine Mass.

remember that the sign of the cross is done the oposite way, and with 3 fingers, and is made everytime the Holy trinity is addressed (that's a lot!).

You should bow when incensed and when the gospel is taken in procession (first entrance) and the gifts taken in procession (second entrance). There are a few other details, but, better: just do what the others do!

  • It's not about language. It's a the bread and wine being changed into the Body and Blood of our Lord. The novus ordo doesn't communicate that. That why nobody believes in the real presence anymore. Lex orandi, lex credendi

  • what ever masses we see, weather tridentine high mass or todays mass, we must remember that everything is good in it's own time, it's good that there are such societies that preserve such traditions how ever, if there are Catholics who feel better going to those masses then let them go there how ever no mass can be understood better than in our own languages.

  • and who decided that the Traditional Mass was not good in this time?

Nowadays, many people wants to escape from the mundane world just for a few minutes, and to be in touch with God. Masses with guitars and so don't help.

  • The Tridentine mass was about the Mystery of what Christ gave during the first Eucharist, His Body and Blood. The mass is scared and embodies the Sacrifice on Calvary. It is Tradition that is centuries old. Both masses if celebrated can be fruitful as long as the Norvus Ordo mass is celebrated to the correct rubrics.

  • OMG, this is such a beautiful Gregorian Chant. When I see this, I can actually feel a real presence of God in this Mass. To be honest, I can feel how pleased he is by seeing these Catholics worship him with such devotion

  • Because the Word made us- and we are the only ones who can use words in this reality.

Words, songs, music...the wave of love, the love that created us...

  • This video brought tears to my eyes, and has cast me back to my youth. I used to be an Acolyte in my Parish Church, Sta Suzanna, in Brussels, Belgium. My greatest pleasure was serving High Mass (it was usually "Missa de Angelis" on Sundays and in the evening Vespers and Completes.

Why did they change tat superb liturgy. And the latin made the Church truly Universal.

  • mass attendance (of the Traditional Mass) at the time of the change in the early 60's was extremely high- with the Novus Ordo now, it is at a record low especially in Europe

  • A wave of excessive laissez-faire liberalisation went through the west around that time. For example, the students revolts in Germany and France or the sexual revolution. Mass attendance didn't just drop because the rite changed - the peoples' minds changed to a wider disregard of devoutness due to their newly aquired and "right" freedoms.

  • I hadn't realised just how mind-numbling boring and ludicrously over ritualised the Tridentine Mass was. No wonder it was dropped. Mass attendances may have dropped, but the drop would have been much worse if people had to go to this mindnumbing ceremony.

  • hmmmmm I guess the saints who cherished and often died for this Mass were all wrong and should have seen how "mind numbing" it was and embraced reform

  • Well, that doesn't make sense does it! People were having to attend this "mindnumbing ceremony", and did! They dropped away, coincidentally, at the same time that this "mindnumbing ceremony" was dropped!

  • Deus caritas est. et DOmine vere lumen mundi est.

Eclesia catholica vere sponsa christi est!

  • Impressive document!
