@MetallicaMadMan666 No, it was actually legitimately good. There was actual intuition that went in to making it. Compare this other superhero films like the original X-Men Trilogy, The Hulk Movies, Blade Trilogy, Thor, Green Lantern, you'll see how they all pale in comparison.

There are a bunch of fanboy nitpicks for this movie, but none of those detract from the film's actually very good quality. I actually judge films by artistic merit, maybe you should too before calling a movie/taste bad.

The character of sandman in this film was nothing like the actual spiderman character in the comics. The directors decision to turn peter parker into an emo because of the symbiote was just bizzare. The acting was actually very well done, particularly from Tobey who pulled off the self-righteous behavior quite well, even before getting the black suit. The action sequences in this movie are highly regarded even by haters, don't even. It is incredible. The screenplay/portrayal of Venom work well together. Bad CG? Birth of Sandman scene.

@MetallicaMadMan666 This film was intelligent. They reversed the roles of the usual comic book movie. The villain (Sandman) was sympathetic and the hero was unsympathetic. On top of that, they made Venom/Eddie Brock a sort of dark mirror for Peter so that the end was more Peter fighting his darkside than the comic version. It works. That action scene is one of many. Look at the final one, look at the Sandman/Blk Spidey one. Amazing.

This was a genuinely well made movie. And the acting works.

I love this movie, it reminds me of a prototype to The Dark Knight structure wise. This film started out with Sandman as villain, evolved into Harry being the villain, and towards the end gave us a treat with Venom. Quite an enjoyable journey! xD

Likewise TDK started out with Scarecrow, evolved into Joker and at the end gave us Two-Face. Both movies were great this way!

@Vernedi The thing is TDK was long enough to be able to fully develop each villain it used (save for the Scarecrow, but he wasn't really important anyhow...), this movie was too short to be much good. It just kept changing from Villain to villain until Venom and Sandman teamed up to kill spidey and Osborn suddenly has a change of heart because his butler decides to tell him how his father died after who knows how long. If it had been longer (and they not killed off venom) I'd agree with you.

This film would be so much better if it foucused on the Black Spider-man than Peter Parker. Oh and just two villians sucjh as Osborn and the sandman facing Spidey together for one last battle until Osborn and Sandman dies at Spidey's hands. that would more than enough for peter to feel guilty to get rid of the symbiot at the end of the film amd venom enter at the fouth film as spidey's final vilan. Honestly it was a huge disapointing enough that venom only appeares at the very end of this film
