also, i'm quite impressed that alton suck with that accent through out the whole episode and he doesn't sound half bad either!

  • the first time i saw this episode i didnt realize it was his kitchen. i just thought it was a sweeny todd spoof. the second time i was like 'oh my gosh!' then started laughing... lol

  • I love this episode great parody

  • It's man devouring man my dear, and who are we to deny it in here?

  • loved the music in this episode

  • Dog human rat( cow pig if lucky) in london pies

  • I like how on certain words his accent suddenly becomes Australian instead of English.

  • I love it when Alton starts talking fast/normal because his English accent switches off, hahah.

  • The Greatest Cooking Show of ALL TIME!!!!!! Alton Brown's Good Eats!

  • Hi Chuck! I mean Sweeney ^^

  • I was getting ready for my Sweeney todd party and I was dressed as him when this came on food network. And Im a chick and their Sweeney was, ...................more of an oddball than a madman XD

  • ... 1:20

But after she started to use human meat, people loved her pies. A lot, actually. Her business thrived. What?

  • Bahaha, I like how they attempt to quote Sweeney Todd.

    This is hilarious.

  • shitty accent

  • shitty accent

  • @paperchasin23 well yeah but its the alton brown show

  • I am amused by Alton Brown's attempt at a British accent.

  • so jokes aside, the meat used for the recipes should actually be lamb?

  • my favorite cook xD

  • I watched sweeney todd right after i watched this show on tv and I was like OOOOhhhh now I know what that is. lol

  • ...sweeny chuck?

  • Good Eats is the best. I learn chemistry, biology, and history, not to mention good cooking and consumer know-how, all while being entertained at a level comparable to the better picks among shows aimed exclusively at entertainment.

  • @Bowser287

The day good eats ends will be a very very sad day x[

Its one of those very few good shows they still air on tv.

  • This is one of the Greatest Cooking shows of all Time!!!!! Alton should run Food Network!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This episode made me deliriously happy. X3

  • "veJITables" :D

Everything about this episode cracks me up. I had a smile on my face for a solid half hour. The way Sweeney says "Mrs Lovett" is just hilarious and I don't exactly know why.

  • isn't ms. lovett the stalker lady from the potato episodes? omg haha

  • is it me or dose Ms lovet look like mrbrowns sister? i think they are played by the same person but i might be wrong

  • I will never tire of the pose Sweeney Todd hits at the doorway when we first see him in this episode...

  • @mclaquarius94 I know, i was just thinking about how hot he looks in that suit...

  • LOL this episode makes me happy

  • vigitibles XDD

  • i love all the adulterated food references... Victorian era food was f^&*ed up no matter how good it looked. X3 Did you know that it wasnt rare to find bed bugs, lice, human hair, rat... stuff.. and dandruff in a scoop of ice cream back then? Fun, fun... XD

  • Also, the reference to "A Little Priest". *double squee*

  • Being a Sondheim fanatic and- even moreso- a Good Eats fanatic, this episode made me squee. Especially when they referenced "Worst Pies In London" and "The Judge's Return." *squee*

  • After careful analysis of Alton's great-grandfather's accent with a team of linguists, we have concluded that he hails from Newcastle-on-Zeastrailialandlondonshire.

  • Nothing's gonna harm you.

    Not while I'm around.

But if I'm not around, chances are someone's going to kill your ass.

  • Damn you, modern times! All these teenagers going "Oh noes he totaly ripped off tim burton!" who have no idea what Sweeney Todd is - it just boggles the mind. you know, I heard there's a book based on his Alice in Wonderland. That oughta be awesome.

  • @walpoly Epic Win FTW!

  • did tim burton rip this off?

  • OMG its Sweeney Tod

  • "The worst pie in Lodon, I know..." I was so hoping the first time I watched this, that Mrs. Lovett and Sweeney were just going to burst out singing the songs from the musical!!! I loved this episode! ^_^

  • I love this show so much.. and just when I thought Alton Brown couldn't be more AWESOME, I saw this episode! With references to one of my favorite movies Edward Scissorhands(hilarious) and amazingly amazing musical [and movie], Sweeney Todd.

They were 100% correct... Alton Brown DOES get his geek on!

    LOVE IT!

  • when talking to his daughter alton was trying not too laugh...lol

  • In the past, money was less/more valuable than today.

If i has 100-1 million dollars then i would be the most richest person in the world

  • oh wow, ab's accent is horrible. his daughters accent is much much better

  • @Avendoralder I think that it's for comedic effect and is on purpose

  • I love how AB uses a quasi-UK-Australian accent

  • Everything about this episode...just great! First, it's Sweeny Todd! What more can I say? Second, his daughter appears again! The very first episode she was in was when she played the Roman baby in "Head Games".

  • haha i remeber i saw this on the TV and i screamed because i saw mrs. Lovett....( but the girl who plays Mrs. Lovett looks kinda werid.)

  • It's the same lady who plays Alton's stalker/

  • His Kid's popping up more and more in the show now that she's grown up a bit.

  • sry if i sound dumb, but which one's his kid?

  • The little blonde 'milk girl.' The first time she was on the show was years ago as a toddler in the honey episode, but now that she's older she's showing up fairly often. She had a main role as his neice 'MJ' in the undercover veggies episode from season 13 (Feels totally nerdy for knowing all that).

  • @Jeneparlepasfrancais That's alton's daughter

  • @TheWorldsLimits Yeah, that's what I said. Did you really need to restate it?

  • @Jeneparlepasfrancais i believe the little girl is his daughter.

  • @2TailedKitsune88 That's what I said in my first post. In the one you were responding to I was answering another person's question of who I was talking about when I mentioned his daughter being in the episode.

  • @Jeneparlepasfrancais You know thats AB's daughter right??

  • @lupinswitch99 Yes of course I know. It's what I said in my first post here, yet for some reason people keep feeling the need to point it out to me again.

  • @Jeneparlepasfrancais how come you never mentioned that she's Alton Brown's daughter? lol

  • @Jeneparlepasfrancais I don't know if anyone else has already said this, but that's his daughter. She also had a pretty big role in "Once and Future Fish"; she played his grand-daughter.

  • I know I always like behind the Eats where he said "That actually is my kid... except she's not as cute anymore" xD

  • lol WIN for the Sweeney Todd reference

  • We have Shepard's pie peppered with actually shepard on top.

Lol, I saw this movie about an hour ago with my friends. They never saw it before in their lives! I had to educate them

  • OMFG THIS IS AWSOME!!!! makes me what to watch the movie now

  • Oh Jesus, Mrs. Lovett's pies.

    *Shudder*

  • This Episode = LOVE!!! BEST EPISODE EVER!!!!

  • He makes Science and Cooking fun!

  • why did i think of sweeney todd...the reason he got busted was the smell

  • Nothing's gonna harm you.

    Not While I'm around.

  • Chuck is SO awesome!

  • Season 12

-- 06: Oh My, Meat Pie: Mincemeat and Shepherds pie

    Sweeney Todd

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

    The String of Pearls ( 1846 - 1847 )

    The String of Pearls: A Romance ( 1846 - 1847 )

Written by: Thomas Peckett Prest ( Thomas Preskett Prest )

penny dreadful ( penny blood, penny number, penny part )

  • I love this episode because I love how he spoofs Sweeny Tood.

  • vegitables

  • I like how the connected Edward Scissorhands to this too!

  • me too!

  • Yes. At 9:50? :O)

  • now he said that mince meat pie dosnt contain meat but the old school pies do....dont they? i have recipes for both though

  • Alton Brown rocks!! This is one of his best shows. The Barber of Fleet Street connection was classic - very funny!!!

  • I wonder if he would ever reference Soylent Green? But that's too gross!

  • He did once. He did a "they're people" joke somewhere I think. But I could be wrong

  • LMAO I can't believe he referenced Sweeney Todd!

  • sweeney todd;D

  • The veggie part was so funny. I love this show so much. And I love how they made Sweeney so crazy.

  • Not only did he use Sweeny Todd as his model for this episode, I think he is referencing Edward Scissorhands in the veggie chopping scene, because of the music and the way he chops all crazy-like and has such a neat result...it's like how Edward went crazy cutting hair and then the results were neat. I love this show!

  • You see, THIS is why I love Good Eats above all the other cooking shows on Food Network. Pop culture + science + strange camera angles + charismatic host - overglorifying the food = all around good show.

  • @0ragdoll0 yeah me too

  • @0ragdoll0 well edward scissorhands and sweeney todd were both played by johnny depp

  • @0ragdoll0

I caught the Edward Scissorhands ref as well. This is my favorite AB/GE episode EVER!

  • @MyLatestEscape What reference was that?

  • @CookwithSarah

If you haven't seen the movie, just search youtube for the trailer. That should show you the passion with which he chops, slices, and dices.

  • I love this show

  • lol he chopped the veggies like crazy but made it neatly piled

  • too damn funny... especially when you see that Chuck is Sweeney

  • ............I have died.

    Of laughter.

  • XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

whos amazing idea was it to put my fav movie with my fav show????!!!???

    LUVSSSS

  • May I ask what movie that is?

  • XD the dude with the knives reminds me of edward scissor hands!!! XDDD lol sketchy...

  • Epic fail dude.

    It's Sweeney Todd.

    They're the same guy. XD

  • really? XD

  • YEAH. Sweeney Todd -> Johnny Depp -> Edward Scissorhands. c:

  • lawl

  • ROTFL!!!!! XD

  • "Did these myself" I had to pause the video I was laughing so hard! Tears even came down my face from my laughing. XD

9:33-end is my favorit though. I was laughing so hard I couldn't breath. XDDDDDDDDDD

This is almost as good at the real movie. (Which is saying a lot, 'cause I LOVE that movie)

  • Just when I thought Good Eats couldn't do anything else to become my favorite cooking show ever, they go and pull this! Best episode EVER! ...Go Sweeney Todd, best move ever!!! (and all around best musical stage play story thing, but I'l rambling now)

  • This is definately the best GE episode ever!

  • Oh my goodness.

Best episode ever. they need to have it on all the time :D

Lol when Sweeney was standing in the doorway at 3:21, i laughed so much xDD"

  • I know! XD He was doing like... A sexy pose. Lol. X3

  • Lmao xD

  • This shit is too hilarious!! Love watching Alton Brown but this is freaking great how he's using my favorite movie for an episode! Watching this episode on t.v right now!!! Chuck is a great Sweeney Todd!!

  • Alton Brown is my hero! I already loved good eats, and then he goes and mixes it with a Tim Burton movie (not to mention one of my favorite Tim Burton movies). This has got to be one of my favorite episodes!

  • "Vig-itables." XD I'm dying!

  • I thought Alton Brown couldn't possibly get more win.

    I WAS SO WRONG.

  • i watched this on tv and i couldnt stp laughing!!!!

i just wasnt expecting him to go all sweeney todd!!!

  • LOL!!! That just made my day! Good Eats and Sweeney Todd, can it get any better? I like how he went all Edward Scissorhands on the veggies. =~D Thats the best!!!

  • He's definitely a Johnny Depp fan. <3 two amazingly talented men.

  • i love how Chuck and Alton (in their respective characters) were all "Oooooo, shiny!"

  • Chuck did a pretty good Sweeney.

  • CHUCK!!

  • This is the best Good Eats ever!! Sweeney Todd is amazing!

  • Nice! He also did a good Edward Scissorhands bit near the end of the clip.

  • Mmm vig-itables are my favorite!

  • was that little girl in the beginning, AB's daughter?

  • yes.

  • This has made my day.

  • The worst pies in London! (It would be funnier if they sang the song, and they also sang "have a little priest")

  • i know!!!! i screamed when i first saw this. combining my two loves. <3 and also if someone said, "things like bein' careful coriander, that's what makes the gravy grander!" from God, That's Good!

  • Call me strange but I wish he had a "Not While I'm Around" reference.

  • AB is such a good actor and great chef

  • I Love all food network's halloween specials! Anyone got the 30 Minute Meals halloween episode with rachael's Carrot soup?

  • I love this episode,

The music guy really outdid himself.

  • Yeah, the music in this one is great.

  • I love the little laugh between Mrs. Lovett and Sweeney Todd after Alton suggests sending the grocer a pie...

  • Alton reminded me of Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Haha. Especially with the British Accent and get up. xD

  • Haha!!!! I love Mrs. Lovett!!! I want her hair!!! I love Sweeney Todd!! The movie is beautiful!!

  • that's called rust mrs.lovett

  • "Highlights, did these myself right this way" LOL!!

  • Ha AB is brilliant!

  • 9:40 onward had me loling.

  • lol, whats up with that girl and potatoes.

  • "if you could look at any one of these under a microscope, you would see that-"

    "a what?!"

    "touche"

    lol thanks alton

  • Ahaha, Sweeney Todd allusion. I love it~ <3

But no one is as dashing as Johnny Depp

    (I love AB's voice)

  • "Highlights? Did these myself!" LOL

  • I LOVE this episode!

    Good Eats is bad ass!

I'm addicted to the food network.

It's kinda sad because I'm a horrible cook and this is all I ever watch on tv. :)

  • THINK OF THE PIES!

Lolz, this is great, this is like two favorite things into one. Halloween it was aired? That might be why I didn't see it until last night. "WAIT WHAT'S YOUR RUSH WHAT'S YOUR HURRY?"

  • You gave me such a fright I thought you was a ghost!

  • @ZeroMyHero99 have a minute, cant ya sit, sit ye down sit! all i meant is that i havent seen a customer for weeks, Did ya come in fer a pie sir? lol sorry couldnt resist

  • Do forgive me if me heads a little vague.

    (What was that?)

But you'd think we have the plague,

From the way that people keep avoiding

    (No you don't)

    Couldn't resist either!

  • innit half a minute?

  • HAHA I just watched this on TV and I just had to find this to watch again!

    Alton is hilarious!

  • I loved watching this episode. I thought it was funny how he used the Sweeney Todd movie in this one episode.

  • ha ha sweeney todd that funny i love that movie

  • Probably the greatest episode...ever.

  • Brilliant episode.

  • The milk girl is cute. :) I almost laughed at the Demon on Fleet street thing. And the human meat is very close, apparently - the pork and lamb thing too. (Read a book on cannibal killers.)

  • THIS EPISODE WAS AMAZING!!

Does anyone know who played Mr. Todd in this episode?

    Thanks in advance

  • this is probably, so far at least, my favorite good eats so far. Totally totally amusing.. :)

  • Alton: Ahh! Oh...umm. Actually I was hoping for something a lil' more...

    Chuck: Shiny!

    Alton: ooh!

  • oh god its human meat

  • that's the point

  • "Did these myself."

    Unbelievably hilarious.

  • That is my favorite part.

  • This episode is too good. I completely lost it at the Edward Scissorhands reference.

  • SWEENEY TODD!!!!
