• Sadly Kermit was processed into frog legs after this video was filmed, then eaten by Miss Piggy.

  • Great song/great memories. I remember we sang this in chorus in elementary school...back in the early 80's when the movie first came out (I think it was released in 1979).

  • We ARE "Rainbows of Solidified Sunlight" in 3D...Sparks of the Infinite...Reach deep within & "SHINE ON...ALWAYS & FOREVER...in IMPECCABILITY!!!

    Love Alwyas & Forever,

    L.A.A.F.

    Pat Timmermans...Purveyor of "Endless Possibilities!"

  • Absolutely fantastic - thanks Kermit!

  • Well put my friend, well put.

  • Yeah very well said mate.

  • Call me a dork, but this song makes me cry like a baby every time I hear it, especially Kermit's version. Its like the nostalgia of my entire childhood rushes me all at once. I think its because this was the forst movie I ever saw.

  • not to dorky I cried too

  • You are not a dork by any means. I cry everytime I hear this song by Kermit. Let everyone call us what they want, they don't get it.

  • Aww that's so cute! :3

  • Some day we'll find it. The rainbow connection. The lovers, the dreamers, and us....Is it silly to think of world peace in this way?

  • I love this song....the message is simple and yet so profound. I think that the timelessness of the song is a testament to how great it is.

  • *sigh*

It's nice to know I'm not alone.....

  • Can ayone tell me why I cry evetytime I see this?

  • someone told me once, the day that you lose the child within, that's the day one starts dying a little...

Thank you Jim Henson, wherever you are, for keeping my inner child well and alive.

  • I had to sing this song in second grade!!!

  • Great memories. We sang this in school.

  • xoXxXox

  • KERMIT ROCKSS!

  • So beautiful, Kermit can say so much so simply.:)It's funny how everytime I listen to this song, I hear something new.

  • Amen. This song moves you.

  • Kermit could connect with you like no one, couldn't he? Something about his voice is so soothing.

  • Thou doth protest to much. You're here listening to Kermit just like the rest of us are, so stop acting like you are too cool for school.

  • kermit the frog is a legend!!!!!! go kermit

  • i remember this as a kid. cool

  • You know, it's funny. I just found out that I'm overdrawn and won't be able to buy christmas for my kids until the day AFter! I looked on the screen and Paul WIlliams came on Nick singing this song. All I could think of was Kermit, and all that the muppets taught us about love and light being in this world. Thank God for Jim Henson

  • I've always loved Kermit.

  • look at Kermit getting it.... lol

  • kermit what a lovely little frog. love it.

  • I've always loved the muppets, and this song. It's written by Paul Williams who also wrote the songs for the Muppet Christmas Carol. He's very talented. If you've ever seen the Smokey and the Bandit movies, then you might remember him. He played "Little Enos" Burdette.(The short blond guy in the white suit next to the big guy in the white suit)

  • I love the first muppet movie and this song from the movie :)

  • Rainbow ku-nek-shun ^^

  • when i get my banjo, this is the first song i want to learn.

  • This is my favorite Muppet song.

    ...either this or Cabin Fever.

  • Kermit n Justin Timberlake sing this on snl

  • This is my teenage daughter's favorite song. She and her Dad had this as their special dance at her Bat Mitzvah!

  • about 2 and a half decadez ago tha melody of RAINBOW CONNECTION has been with me to this day. i'm 30 now and to hear it again and not just hearing tha melody but tha lyricz itself. blowz me away. the song writer and i have something in common. tha time of the RAINBOW CONNECTION is near. thankz to you. . . it bringz new meaning into my life.

  • i like how your 30 and you sub Z' for S' :3 lol

  • i luv u kermit

  • Perhaps one of the two or three hardest things that I find to do (if not THE hardest) is to listen to this song and NOT cry! Touching indeed, as are all the muppets from my favorite childhood shows - Sesame Street and the Muppet Show!

  • omg thats so cute!! kermit is like...my boyfriend!!! lol :)

  • I wish he were mine :(

  • how'd you get past piggy?

  • Wow i love this song.:)

  • Does any one else get teary eyed when they watch this? I remember sitting in my knee socks drinking kool-aid watching this. Now I play it for my 11 month old in his high chair chomping on animal crackers and it just gets to me...that just goes to show it transcends all generations. Love you, Kermit.

  • Oh for sure. It makes me think of when life was more than just money and assets. It's a beautiful song.

  • It puts me back in that happy place

  • :') i looooveeeeee...

  • brings out the child in all of us. kermit the frog is already an icon, an institution. this song is everything that was once an unadulterated world in time. wishful thinking...

  • KERMIT MAKES ME SMILE

  • The world was unadulterated then, we just didn't know that because we were too young.

  • The Memories of Childhood... Even though Im 21 now it still makes me smile Kermit the Frog is Timeless

    RIP Jim Henson!!!!

  • Kermit rules!!!

  • I hate Jason Mraz's voice! Kermit is so much better!

  • Jason Mraz does a great cover of this song.

I actually heard his cover and then found this, which is great too.

  • deserves the oscar.

  • brings back precious memories!!!

  • miss Jim Henson-R.I.P

  • This song symbolizes everything the Muppets stood for. They stood for falling back into carefree childhood, to have fun, to just smile, to "find the rainbow connection". I've always loved this song because of it.

Rest in peace, Jim. There's a special place waiting in whatever good realm there is after death just for you.

  • KERMIT FROG!!! this muppet is quite talented is music. i knew this through my chinese teacher when i was only in Pri 2!!! nice song...

  • study.astrology.

  • Yay! Kermit is a musical genius! He´s tha frog!

... And Jim Henson´s pretty cool to.

  • I WUV U KERMIT!!!!!!

  • Fantastic song! I have it on my ipod (and I'm working on a drawing of Kermit playing the banjo! Hehe!) But it really is amazing! I loved the film when I was little, but I've never really understood the song properly til now.

Well done Kermit! The Muppets (and Disney!) were the best entertainers ever!

  • Hell yeah

  • love this song... brings back so many memories, and new ones..

    youth forever!

  • i wish the muppets would do a movie again. theres nothing magical about all the new computer animated flics.

  • Seriously, what's the appeal with all the new CG? It's overkill.

  • It really is. Even the puppetry of the original Yoda of Star Wars was much more magical than the CG Yoda of the latter films.

  • Yeah, when Yoda when CG, 45% of the charm left. the 55% remaining was in the voice.

  • Yes. I do too. All the muppets together again. That would make me so happy!

  • I agree another Muppet movie would be wonderful

  • This my favorite song of all time!!!

  • i love this song!!!

  • my teacher loves this song

  • this song has touched people 4 generations i love this song <3 =]

  • At my 18th birthday party, two friends and I we were going through Piano books playing and singing anything we knew, and I found this song. I was really excited but neither of them had ever hear of this song, which is really depressing. My dad always used to play it on the guitar for me.

  • best movie ever!!!

    I love this song omg!

kermit is my fav after pepe but he's not in this movie

  • That's Jim Henson singing!!!!

  • Aww... I miss my childhood.

  • oh what a great song thanks for sharing the clip along with it..

  • This song is so beautiful. Whenever I hear it, it puts hope in my heart, no matter how pessimistic I am at the moment. Someday there will be something better. Just think of what's over the rainbow.

  • haha i danced to this song in a recital when i was 3. it makes me cry now, haha. i love this song

  • favorite movie ever!!

  • I learned this when I was little :D I love it!

  • me 3

  • i have this song on my ipod...freakin awesome song i remember this movie whne i was like 6 years old i think? im 20 now and i still listen to this song

  • Song makes me cry.

  • me too

  • I remember song when I was little.

  • this song makes me want to learn how to play the banjo....o_0

  • Hey, Kermit is left handed.....who knew? Love this song.

  • most muppets who play instruments are left handed this is because the muppeteer lip syncs with his right hand and manipulates the arms with his left

  • makes me feel like a kid again, its been along time since i felt that way. brings a tear to my eye, love this song

  • God Bless Jim Henson..... ;)

  • kermits a little legend aswell as miss piggy, gonzo, animal. the whole gang. Thanks for making me smile throughout my childhood and even today as a 24 yr old. :)

  • I love this song.

    It loves me back.

  • KERMITH THE FROG IS AMAZING!!!!! He's such a special charcater, & honestly he doesnt even look like the typical puppet. RIP Jim Hensen :-)

  • They played this song at my church the other day.

  • He truly is one of the best entertainers of all times.

Thx Kermit for all the pleasure in my childhood.

  • I'm not a man to cry, but this song brings me more than half-way to it. I wasn't around when it first surfaced (I was born in 1990), but it's such a beautifully simple song. I know it's cliche to say that it "defines" my belief about life, but it just strikes me in such an emotional way that I can't help but say that it does. I've always felt "different" from my peers in the way I think, often choosing introversion and existential discussion over small-talk, and it's led to some frustration.

  • Cont'd. This song, though, while it is sad, makes me feel contented- maybe not happy, but I'm just glad knowing that others may feel the same way, and this song represents "the lovers, the dreamers, and me" so wonderfully, it always brings a lump in my throat when I hear it.

  • well put sweetpops....

  • thanks for your kind words, markdoeg! =)

  • This is so lovely :)

  • I love this song and the love and hope it gives

  • I remember seeing this music video on TV (Rage - yes, literally) a few years back. And I've played this in my old school band (Paul Lavender's arrangement for Junior Band) a handful of times.

  • WE'RE SINGING THIS IN CHIOR!!! :D

  • kermit <3

  • Deffinitely going under my favorites.

  • This song makes me smile and brings happy tears to my eyes

  • takes me back to my childhood! i remember seeing this in the theater when it was first released. a classic!

  • I want to hug Kermit so badly- such a classic :D

  • Oddio che spettacolo!!!!Kermit è un Mito!!!!!!!E la canzone è fantastica...

  • This is probably the most touching video for me on YT.

  • =) you're not the only one! i thought i was weird for the surge of emotions. =)

  • sweetpopz: You're not weird at all. This song hits you really deep. It's poor little Kermit sitting there all alone along with the note structure. It's a tear jerker even though the words aren't essentially depressing.

  • FredericaBimble : thanks for kind words! =)

I guess it's the childlike innocence exhibited in Kermit which we've lost along the way.

It speaks volumes of the naivete in clinging onto an intangible hope. With hope & expectations come disappointment & pain. This reality is absent in the song, allowing us to wallow in a brief fantasy of perfection.

    "Someday we'll find it."

I found it. It found me. We had to let it go.

And ever since, I've found a new friend - Regret.

  • People strive to make up their own existence in this theory or that theory. They use biased "science" to try to prove themselves. By the time they die they've forgotten one thing; The reason they did all this.

They assume relieving themselves of their responsibilities will make them happier. They can do what they please. Instead they fight through life to protect their new ideas, and live in pain and sorrow.

  • they need this song for guitar hero

  • still magic even as an adult

  • "someday we'll find it.."

i found tears welling in my eyes involuntarily and smiling at the screen wistfully.

    Magic, indeed.

  • I challange anyone to find a better opening for a movie anywhere. In fact, I callange anyone to find a better movie starring puuets period.

  • Absolute classic

  • my music teacher in high school could sing this with kermit's voice. it was pretty cool

  • Kermit's the last of the good guys.

  • <3 i love the muppets.

  • what does that have to do with kermit?

  • Classic.. wow

  • goosebumbs....

  • Thank you so much for posting this....you have no idea how many memories this brings back...THANK YOU!
