By the way, I work in the organic food business, and when this video first appeared, I asked several organic dairy farmers what they thought of it. Every one of them said they didn't care, as it didn't apply to them. But hey, I guess conspiracy nuts on youtube would know more about organic farming than organic farmers.
Gallagher I know the environmental implications of conventional gardening. I think the major problem in conventional gardening is the use of chemical pesticides. I grow herbs, fruits and vegetables in my yard without the use of pesticides. I weed and plant marigolds as a natural pesticide to keep away bugs.

Organic food is much higher nutritionally than "conventionally" grown food, Organic farming restores the soil fertility and the microbial life in the soil, encourages biodiversity, and eliminates the contamination of the land and the water by toxic chemicals. It actually reduces the stress on the environment, not increase. In fully restored soils, the harvest should equal anything you could grow "conventionally", and with higher nutritional value.

Boycott foods known to be genetically modified. Foods made by Kellogg s and Kraft are using this crap in their food. E-mail the White House over and over again and anybody else in power.. Plus tell everyone you know. If we unite we can stop these bills in their tracks.

They say 'there is no language in the bill' several times while 'busting myths' on the facts/myths sheet. The problem is that it gives this new government policing agency the authority to set the rules (on page 116):
23 The Administrator may promulgate such regulations as the Administrator determines are necessary or appropriate to perform the duties of the Administrator.
My biggest immediate concern is they are already trying to require IRRADIATION of ALL produce grown for sale. This would insure that happens negating a great deal of the benefits of organics without touching organic regulations. It's giving an agency of the government the authority to enact rules without the airing required by either legislation, or regulations the FDA is currently bound by--rules that would normally cause serious attention, like that our entire food supply must be irradiated.
I agree that we should stick to facts, however, I don't think that anyone who benefits from a company like Monsanto truly has our best interests in mind, even if it was 10 years ago, which I doubt considering that when I last checked Greenberg-Quinlan's website, they were still listed as a client.
Quite frankly, when it comes to a law that could regulate small farms, gardens and farmer's markets, you do not get the benefit of the doubt, especially if you have connections to big agribusiness.

After spending much time researching food Bills HR 875, S510, HR 814, HR 759 and both sides of the latest "food safety" issues, it becomes clear it is not the small organic farms which are responsible. The latest rash of food bills do NOT support organic farming or gardening and will put many small farms out of business and add to the acreage of large industrialized (GMO) farms. Paul Turner

A handful of people die from salmonella or are sickened by E.coli and this is front and center and repeated over and over. The salmonella and ecoli comes from the large industrialized food processing and not the small farms, but we now have "food safety" Bills which would give a clear advantage to these same larger players and hurt the small farmers. What the heck is going on in the USA where a corporation can dictate the rules to the US government and pass the laws and penalties on to private citizens over the food they grow to feed their families? They say 'there is no language in the bill' several times while 'busting myths' on the facts/myths sheet. The problem is that it gives this new government policing agency the authority to set the rules (on page 116):
23 The Administrator may promulgate such regulations as the Administrator determines are necessary or appropriate to perform the duties of the Administrator.

My biggest immediate concern is they are already trying to require IRRADIATION of ALL produce grown for sale. This would insure that happens negating a great deal of the benefits of organics without touching organic regulations. It's giving an agency of the government the authority to enact rules without the airing required by either legislation, or regulations the FDA is currently bound by--rules that would normally cause serious attention, like that our entire food supply must be irradiated.

I agree that we should stick to facts, however, I don't think that anyone who benefits from a company like Monsanto truly has our best interests in mind, even if it was 10 years ago, which I doubt considering that when I last checked Greenberg-Quinlan's website, they were still listed as a client.
Quite frankly, when it comes to a law that could regulate small farms, gardens and farmer's markets, you do not get the benefit of the doubt, especially if you have connections to big agribusiness.

It is vague enough that any food that is not acceptable to the FDA (long time cronie to whatever corporations happen to be in power) to be made illegal.
This is true for both Organic, and NON-ORGANIC foods.
Basically any part the food supply has now been given over the whatever Draconion view the FDA currently holds.

We sell products at the farmers markets. These markets are one aspect of the economy that is really growing. I thought local economy such as these markets would be a big part of our future economy in the U.S., particularly organic farming.

The person who sponsored this bill, Rosa DeLauro, is married to Stan Greenberg who works for Monsanto, among others. She also receives her largest donations from agribusiness PAC's.
She is friends with Rahm Emanuel, which gives her a direct line to the White House (he stayed at her house frequently when he went to DC), and there are 39 co-sponsors, making it more likely to pass.
Call your Senators, Congresspeople and do NOT let this pass!

Being a vegan, I am VERY concerned that I will not be able to get fruits and vegetable seeds that are not FRANKENSTEIN-created in labs and owned by Monsanto, one of the biggest criminals against nature, trying to PATENT LIFE.
I can only grow so much from organic seeds in my Aerogardens. Guess I better step up to growing outdoors now and do what I can to fight this monster bill.
