How do you compare BFD2 to Addictive Drums ? I havent tried BFD2 yet. Addictive Drums sound sweet imo. Lately I got dissapointed with superior 2.0. It may be good for edrums like yours, but I need the vst for my midi drum tracks. I just cant get the tone right, the drums dissapear in the mix (with AD I have no problem with that). I play rock/metal/hardcore.
@thisdoodpl Go with ur gut man and choose Addictive Drums. In my opinion its king of drum software. Its the easiest to use and set up, the most realistic sounding, and a hell of alot cheaper. And the midi tracks they provide are top notch quality and theres alot of them to choose from. Plus if you get the new Metal Adpak then you'll have the biggest orgasm you ever had. Seriously the drums in the Metal Adpak are a metalheads dream come true. They're sick
is there any noticable latency when triggering out of BFD via a host app like cubase or is it just down to the soundcard ? thanks for the vid.. this is very interesting to me..
Also of the pro level audio interface use ASIO drivers (on windows). You can even use a set of drivers called asio4all for consumer level cards, but your millage will vary.
I was using a Presonus Firestudio for this, and the latency was ~4ms. I don't notice any additional latency when using a VST host like Cubase compared to BFD itself.
I've not spent much time with a TD12. If you plan on triggering an external module I don't know that there is a huge difference until you move up to a TD20 with positional sensing. As far as sounds go, I don't think there is a sound module on the market that can touch what companies like Fxpansion, Toontrack, Addictive, StevenSlate are doing now.
The TD-12/20 share the same basic system. This means they trigger the same way and even have the same sounds. The TD-12 is simply a cut down TD-12. Cut down regarding inputs, direct outs, sound parameters, ambience, effects etc.
But if you use it as a trigger 2 midi interface (for BFD/DfH/...) there will be no difference in quality between the TD-12 and the TD-20. And you're right, BFD 2/Superior 2.0 sound a lot better than the TD-20 ;)

How did you set up your keymap for your TD9? I hit a single note on the snare and this is what I get in the BFD2 midi log:
Note on [004 / E -2] Vel [025] Chan [10]
Note on [004 / E -2] Vel [032] Chan [10]
Note on [009 / A -2] Vel [004] Chan [10]
This makes it impossible to map. I even took the pad off the kit to elminate crosstalk. It's so frustrating

Why not sync the recorded track with the video & then eliminate the camcorder audio??
Would love to see this same vid with better quality audio.

yeah its down to the latency of your soundcard, a lot have asio drivers available which will bring this down to near-usable levels :)

Adammazza, after playing BFD2 through the TD-9, do you think you'd benefit much from the TD-12? Is the feel and responsiveness that much different?

Hmm, should have given us a direct feed. It's very difficult to get the full scope of BFD2 through the mic on your handycam. =)
