I will now turn off my screen and every light in my room and just go onto my balcony with my mobile headphones and watch that thunderstorm approach, listening to this song...awesome...brb.
@Directorbbz I completely agree, I cannot comprehend how this doesn't move every single person that's ever heard this... 2 dislikes? /me shakes her head.
aww inspiring i have given up doing housework i am just sitting here going through your music to feel peace purity yep u guys must be from outerspace as us humans are not this spiritual
ok i found this band lookin up top ten post rock song vids....i felt gay for doing it but glad i did cuz i have never heard this band before and so far every song i have heard from them i like and thats not so with most bands i like....i ussually dont say i like bands more so i like some songs that bands play but this band i believe will be up there with actual bands i like thanx for postin
Phenomenal band...True artistry. Out of all the post-rock bands besides Jakob, GIAA has the most layererd soundscapes...Listen loud with no distractions and it's amazing.
well, despite this nice single, the new album is quite different from their previous works... a change is always welcome... i just dont know why they dont play beyond the dying light in their shows... saw them twice, hoping to see them playing beyond the dying light and they didnt.... Anyway GUYS check The Allstar project and Riding Panico.. portuguese post-rock bands :D
God is an astronaut need to push their stuff to film companies/TV etc etc if they are not doing this already. They are truly superb as are Jakob who are a New Zealand band.
Yeah. How can they make every single song with immerse beauty and emotions? How can they take a step forward by bringing up fresh ideas each time while not straying away from their roots? How can the song titles and music always be matched perfectly? (This is the most unbelievable thing, I think)
Because GIAA, a band with no freaking limits, is one of the best bands we've seen for a long time.
I have to admit that I've only just recently stumbled across this band. I'm amazed they've been around this long and have not received the recognition they obviously deserve. I played all their albums and an EP back-to-back straight after hearing 'Shining Through' and liked every single song. Such beautiful, epic and inspiring music. GIAA are something of a hidden gem. The mainstream won't 'get' them ... but who cares?
Uh, but a lot of good bands break up or stop making music because they don't have enough money to keep things going. Well, I never expect the mainstream to appreciate GIAA. Yet, in the post-rock field at least, GIAA deserve more than they've gotten...I just can't believe they're not as big as bands like Sigur Ros or Mogwai.
Good point, byakuya00. It is indeed a shame when some great bands break up due to lack of money. Regarding being appreciated in the post-rock field... I like Mogwai and Sigur Ros too, but for me at least, GIAA blow them both away. Maybe GIAA have not been publicised quite as well as those bands have? They are certainly as good as, if not better than, them. So yes, they do deserve a lot more recognition that they currently get.
I must agree. God is an Astronaut are among my favorite in the genre. Their songs take me to different worlds enormously different from this one we all occupy.
Manly tears were shed.

To me, the self-titled album is still very GIAA-y and it greatly shows their crossover appeal.

I'm with you. Getting involved in these areas will give them more media exposure, for sure.
Sadly, most bands in this genre don't have a big label behind to build them up like that. :/
