@2007pepsilover I think they cancelled it shortly thereafter. But I'm not sure if it was before or after E3. Anyway, last I heard, they had cancelled it, pretty much in the middle of development IIRC. It's very sad, but that's what you get for trying to make a unique game.
Those reviewers from companies are too obsessed with shooters in 2008. They probably thought the point of Mirror's Edge was shooting, shooting and um.. shooting.
It's a shame mirror's edge didn't do as well as EA had hoped, it was a amazingly original game. I had a really fun time playing it. I had hoped for a sequel but obviuosly EA wanted dice focusing on the next battlefield which makes sense I guess....oh well I guess Mirror's edge is going to be another one of those great games that just flew under the radar.

I would really like to see Dice try at Mirrors Edge again. Mirrors edge had flaws but the concept was very interesting. In the sequel it would be cool to see Dice iron out the kinks and make an enjoyable game.

Learn from Ubisofts Assasins Creed, the first one was slandered by critics for linearity. But they went on and improved it for a sequel which was amazing!! Mirrors Edge 2 can be phenomenal if you do the same!! MAKE MIRRORS EDGE 2!!
I was trying to remember why i prefer Battlefield over CoD, and now I remember; camping douche bags can't hide in a building very well if all the walls are blown out, and the building is ready to collapse.
Which was a depressing flop... In my opinion it needs something with more destruction, better graphics, better movement, and better sound... I'd love to see that happen.
i dont care if pc gamers felt betrayed, all i know is back when it came out i think the first bad company was worth getting a console. i should know. it was my first and only ps3 game for 2 months and i never got bored of the crude humor and awesome battles. :D
The only bad part about mirrors edge and portal were there lack a multiplayer experience to keep you interested, if it wasn't for that one drawback, those games would have sold betterwould probaly have sold better. But for some reason, portal is getting a sequel and Mirrors edge isn't. Come on Dice and EA! After Battlefield 3 we want Mirror's edge 2!

didnt BF2142 first introduce the frostbite engine not the everything destroctable engine that we know of but it still said frostbite on the intro screen.
i think there should be a mirrors edge 2 just because mirrors edge was a great idea for a game but there where so many small problems with the game that it got dragged down by them and if dice pay attention to the reviews mirrors edge 2 could be a really amaing game.
I would give up Battlefield 3 for Mirror's Edge 2.I want something refreshing not the same thing every year(now don't get me wrong i love my moh,battlefield's and cod's).
ive also noticed that a large % (not all) in CoD gamers are very closed minded (mostly the younger crowd) they tend to look down on all other games. CoD lost its magic touch after WaW. now its the same crap every time. they will make mw3 then they will do a future shooter. they will follow dice's footsteps untill ppl get tired of it, which sadly it WILL take a long time for ppl to get tired of it.
why is the pc community complaining about not getting bc1, bc was just an experiment to make the next battlefield even better, even if it was released for the PC they would probably hate it anyway because it was just a battlefield spin off with less players, vehicles, and smaller maps.

Shame about Mirrors Edge 2 being cancelled. I think the core mechanic of Mirrors Edge was good enough to grant a purchase. I would have liked to have seen the sequel get completely rid of the gunplay. Critics be damned

The point of my original post and all the ones following them was not that FPS's are necessarily bad games, but that too many people refuse to open themselves up to different genres. I think that Mirror's Edge was awesome but it was EA who said they didn't want to fund the developement of another ME because they didn't get enough profit. @kuhj278 EA is a business, they have to make decisions based on what is worth the time, money, and effort. Based on the sales of Mirrors Edge they determined that the game would not be successful with a sequel, and as such made the smart choice in scraping it. Why should we be mad at them for this? At least they tried with the first one. It all comes down to the fact that this generation only want dumbed down FPS's. Because of that only FPS's survive on the market. Be mad at them, not EA.

Battlefield was a beloved title in the pc world but those same pc gamers now felt bertayed, there was a sense in the community that pc consumers had build the battlefield franchise and now they where being abandoned.

@MrGhostbutter You dumbass. They didn't make modding or mapping tools for BF2142 or BC2. That upset a lot of PC players. BF1942, BFV, and BF2 had huge amounts of custom maps and many great mods.

Also cod1 was the only cod shooter to be only pc (not anymore though thanks to xbl) cod2 was the game that expanded the franchise when being a release title for the 360. The rest is history, and as we know, history i written by the victors.
In my opinion BF2142 sales were hurt by World of Warcraft. A lot of BF regulars jumped ship to go play WoW and to get ready for Burning Crusades around that time. BF2142 was really good though and was really fun to play.

ive also noticed that a large % (not all) in CoD gamers are very closed minded (mostly the younger crowd) they tend to look down on all other games. CoD lost its magic touch after WaW. now its the same crap every time. they will make mw3 then they will do a future shooter. they will follow dice's footsteps untill ppl get tired of it, which sadly it WILL take a long time for ppl to get tired of it.

why is the pc community complaining about not getting bc1, bc was just an experiment to make the next battlefield even better, even if it was released for the PC they would probably hate it anyway because it was just a battlefield spin off with less players, vehicles, and smaller maps.

Shame about Mirrors Edge 2 being cancelled. I think the core mechanic of Mirrors Edge was good enough to grant a purchase. I would have liked to have seen the sequel get completely rid of the gunplay. Critics be damned

I dislike todays game companys, if u look at CoD they make the same damn game every time. wen mw2 came out i noticed a huge spark in xbox sales. Ive been a gamer sence a kid and ive noticed a change in companys plans. CoD 4 was great a huge step up from 3 and a great game that was revolutionary, it added that personal customisation that ppl craved. but now they put out the same crap every year.

Also, CoD is no longer a quality game. MW was the height of it's existence, from there it's been a rapid nose dive into shittyness. And this is from someone who has played EVERY SINGLE Call of Duty, including Black Ops.

@theoriginalhegs94 fair enough, I havent played since MW, but from what I heard MW2 was probably its equal in intensity, which was what I like MW for (I'm talking campaign... competitive online multi that isnt counterstrike or quake can go eat an unbalanced dick as far as I'm concerned :P [TF2 excluded of course - don't play it but respect it])
I still satnd by the fact that mirrors edge doesn't need a sequel. I'd prefer breath of fresh air, experimental games to stay as a standalone testament.

The point I was trying to make, which you clearly were too thick to understand, is that today's youth predominately play CoD and other FPS's, ignoring all other genre's. I dub them the CoD Generation due to the overwhelming number of them that do in fact play CoD. Pro tip, fact check before you post. I especially encourage you to look stuff up, namely in this instance as to what the word "generation" means.

The point of my original post and all the ones following them was not that FPS's are necessarily bad games, but that too many people refuse to open themselves up to different genres. In a reply to someone else I said that the one thing I hate is people who are unwilling to try new and different games, and I still believe that.

I think that Mirror's Edge was awesome but it was EA who said they didn't want to fund the developement of another ME because they didn't get enough profit. @kuhj278 EA is a business, they have to make decisions based on what is worth the time, money, and effort. Based on the sales of Mirrors Edge they determined that the game would not be successful with a sequel, and as such made the smart choice in scraping it. Why should we be mad at them for this? At least they tried with the first one. It all comes down to the fact that this generation only want dumbed down FPS's. Because of that only FPS's survive on the market. Be mad at them, not EA.

@MrGhostbutter You dumbass. They didn't make modding or mapping tools for BF2142 or BC2. That upset a lot of PC players. BF1942, BFV, and BF2 had huge amounts of custom maps and many great mods.

Also cod1 was the only cod shooter to be only pc (not anymore though thanks to xbl) cod2 was the game that expanded the franchise when being a release title for the 360. In my opinion BF2142 sales were hurt by World of Warcraft. A lot of BF regulars jumped ship to go play WoW and to get ready for Burning Crusades around that time. BF2142 was really good though and was really fun to play.
