I wonder how the pilot would deal with the visual parallax error of being so far to the right (or to the left) of centerline? Just curious. Anyway, it's a fascinating aircraft.
As a member of the scaled family that have had my hard work put into that plane. it was a great feeling knowing that everyone is so happy and shocked to see this plane. A LOT of sweat and blood went into this plane. I hope when the day comes that we fire our rocket and launch the actual space ship into the atmosphere that everyone will see history in the making...again.
In my opinion, having seen WK2 in reality, it is one of the most beautiful and amazing aircraft flying to the date. In Oshkosh, when the WK2 took off, I was speechless. Awesome. And every bit of the look is for a reason, it is a very good design and represents advanced aerodynamics compared to any airliners built to the date.
WK2 would win a beauty contest if I was the judge. 747 would lose.
so, let's look at history. besides trained astronauts, nasa sent up several scientists and one school teacher in their entire history. by contrast ESA and the Russians sent up several space tourists and their tickets were millions of dollars each! now VG will do it NEXT YEAR for 200k and they are using 100% reuseable hardware. they are just the FIRST. other businesses will follow, new technologies will be discovered, costs will drop. all will benefit eventually. i am going to start saving now!
you are 100% true. just like the fist automobile it was pricey for the first one. these will be mass produced in the future and for roughly the same price as a airline ticket today, you can fly to space and land anywhere in the world in the future. just give it time.
Yayyy! Richard Branson's little "Space Limo" for the likes of Madonna & Paris Hilton to fly in and look down their noses at us peasants below as we scramble to keep food on the table.
How much of a carbon footprint are these suborbital joyrides for elites making on the environment, Mister Branson, you hypocritical shit?
i agree that responsible technology is important. some research of them will show that low eco impact is important to their business plan. many of today's technolgies we enjoy are products of the space program. competition for NASA is a good thing. the more competition in space will eventually enable the regular joe's like me and presumably you to take a "joy ride" or more importantly - to be able to travel intercontenental in a fraction of the time it takes now and for a fraction of the cost.
Oh, please! We've had space flight for over 50 years, and the closest we have reached so far is for rich snobs to have something new to lord us over with. How does it make you feel to think that Paris Hilton may soon be in the same league as Neil Armstrong?
Perhaps one day spaceflight WILL be available to the regular person, but like airline travel, by the time it reaches our level, it will be passe, and chances are you'll have a sweaty fat guy in the seat next to you.
Remember the history of cell phones. At first, only very rich people could afford them. Now lower middle class twelve-year-olds have cell phones that any tycoon from the Eighties would have sold his soul for.
Or more likely, by the time they allow "regular people" to fly into space, we've have inspection probes shoved up out butts after waiting ten hours in line, packed in like sardines, a couple of screaming babies, and a kid kicking the back of your seat the whole way.

it's probably all controlled by computer and all the pilot has to do is monitor its systems.....

mankind needs space travel to be able to continue. the resources on earth are finite.

I hope I'm alive when these are commercial and prices come down. If so: YAY!

You're right. The future will inevitably suck and tomorrow isn't worth living for. Excuse me while I slit my wrists.
