Put your head on an open racket face? Lol. Slice is also meant to be a block of sorts, so you can return high pace balls. With an open racket face, the ball will drop short and you are going to be attacked by your opponent. You want a closed racket face so you have more margin for error. All my coaches told me NOT to open the racket face. Or just learn a decent backhand block which is easier and more effective.
I can't wait to pick tennis up again. I have played tennis when i was younger but i was not good. I haven't played tennis since but i want to play again because i took a gym course in college. It was ok but then when you understand the aspect of the game; mastered the footing and actually hitting the ball over the net, it becomes a good game. One of the things i like about tennis other than hitting the ball correctly, is the sound of the ball. :) I want to become pro and have fun.

im better than what he calls an "up and coming player" cuz im 14 and i don't lose to adult players worse than 5-0
dont listen to this guy. he doesnt have a very good understanding of how to hit a slice. or if u watch his other videos when hes trying to explain court positioning, its clear that he doesnt understand it. he thinks if u hit a crosscourt serve return that you should move across to the other side of the court so that you give your opponent a wide open crosscourt forhand. hes dum
Inevitably, he will drop his top hand on his own so he can slice properly, but It's not physically impossible to play a shot liek this; it just won't be any efficient as a groundstroke. with a nice fake and position, it could be suprising though; we never know what might outplay an opponent.
Seriously, it's quite a bad idea. And there are only two reason which would lead to tip someone to use both hands:
Well, yes. It obvisouly won't be any good, but yes.
Two handed backhand shots have a major problem: the second hand limit the reach and freedom. This what makes it easy to control, but it's also what makes limits its effiiciency.
If you play it well, it can be a good shot; I have no problem about people using two hands on their shots. But when it comes to tricky moves which has many adjustable part such as this one, you defenitly need freedom and reach and must use one hand.

So you won't feel weird doing a backhand slice with one hand? Compared to doing a backhand with one hand?
yawbuStaEsherF 2 years ago
Could you also do the backhand slice with two hands?
yawbuStaEsherF 2 years ago
you could try

-he's not strong enough like a kid.
-he simply can't play one handed.

yeh u can but its mostly hits the net and not as controlled
greenstar91 2 years ago
It would be really hard to get the slice motion with two hands. The second hand would limit the motion quite a bit, I think.
