  • is it normal? the sound of the end?

  • to do this do you need the hercules or you can use like a dj io soundcard

  • I have a simular set up with the same numark m2 mixer and serato SL1. Is it possible to hook up a MPC1000 like the way you did with the hercules there?

  • @TheDjKalii true thats cool i really cant comment on VDJ ive never used it

  • do these timecode vinyls work with virtual DJ LE?

  • can i use the hercules mk4 ????

  • ok how do you hook up 2 speakers to the mixer like the: Krk's Rokit 5's , they only have 1 unbalence rca and a XLR wellcould you plug the XLR into it or maybe even if you take thoose big speakers at DJ partys they only have a XLR input

  • @bluedog916 Sorry man, its been a while since I made this video. I beleive it was a remix of something by the Gorrilaz...

  • i'm working on getting this exact setup, but with the gemini ctrl-six instead of the RMX. do you recommend the hercules rmx over the ctrl-six?

  • TRAKTOR SCRATCH DUO 2.. FOR THE WIN.....

  • Hi, how is scratching on your system? I use the Numark timecodes and they really suck. Plz respond

  • @VultureCulture2000X Serato Is much better. Much better latency, and tracking.

  • @shawnki91 thanks for the fast response. I found it really interesting that one could set up a cheaps system which sounds that good. Although mine is a little bit cheaper, it doesn't sound as good as yours

  • @VultureCulture2000X When I first started out, I said: "forget it, its too expensive, and I'll never be able to find an affordable way to get the ball rolling". A great sage once said "if you seek, then you shall find"!

  • @shawnki91 hey can i use my numark cdm(g)25 like what you doing there and m2 too??

  • @shawnki91 can you use the m2 for sound card??

  • Hi I purchased the M2 along with an RC cord which allows me to plug the mixer into my macbook, but it dosent seem to be working, any idea how to get it up and going?

  • are those t.62b turn tables?

  • can u also use the Hercules DJ Console MK4 since it has a audio interface in it 2?

  • how is that scratch mixer?

  • Do you like the stanton T.62's?

  • Thanks for this video, I've watched alot of other videos describing how to do this setup, but none of them answered all my questions - like yours did.

    Thanks again!

  • can someone tell me whats that skin???

  • cheap but works watch?v=LmhWkUTjgms

  • quick question,do i need virtual dj pro to run timecoded vinyls?

  • and from the output of ur mixer tht is connected to the hercules rmx u have a cable that goes to ur sound system right ??? plz tell me if this is wrong or right..

  • @shawnki91 I have the Hercules RMX also but also have a set of American Audio Pro-Scratch 2 CD Players that i would like to hook up & work with to play my MP3's through my Hercules RMX & my Laptop, most people say this cannot work since this is just only a CD player only for CD's.I want to know if there is any way which I can make this possible for this to work with MP3's,My equipments that i have is 1 Hercules RMX With VDJ6+Vestax VCI-300 With Serato Itch+500GB External HDD+Laptop,Please help.

  • I am using this exact same setup, it has taken me quite sometime to get it to work correctly. I sincerely appreciate your tutorials.

I am having a problem and wondering if you can help. When I pull the record backwards, program is reading the fact that I am turning it backwards, but no sound comes out...meaning no ability to scratch. Why would sound not come out when I am pulling the record backwards?

  • @DJbeatArkitekt i've had this problem before. Truth be told, I don;t have a real solution, but rather some things you can try, which have worked for me.

    1) Try inverting the Red and White pins (i.e. plug red in white, and then white in red), play some tracks, move the turntable back and forth, and then switch them back to their original location (tricks the sfotware a little bit and then it usually corrected itself for me).

    2) Re-instal the ASIO driver for your soundcard

  • @shawnki91 Actually figured it out bro...it was a dumb problem. I had SmartScratch selected on the VDJ scratch interface...the minute I turned it off, it was fine.

I actually did a full gig using this set up and I can say it works great...only problem I really had was the Timecode signal conking out in VDJ occasionally. I had to reset the settings and this resulted in like a half second gap in the song anytime I did it. Needless to say, no one noticed when I did it lol. Much thanks to you.

  • @shawnki91 Thanks for all your help dude, I actually found out what was wrong. FYI for anyone else who may be having this problem, TURN OFF SMARTSCRATCH on the scratch interface.

  • smart scratch is most likely on, go to a skin in VDJ that has a scratch tab aswell as those mixer tabs, and there should be a little option called smart scratch with a padlock next to it, click it off and you will be able to hear your back spin

  • its arite i got it

  • Do you know why my numark m2 crossfader, cue and volume barely work? ive connected them all up properly so i dont know what the problem is

  • @11mcgino11 I need some mre information.

  • just buy serato

  • @allanxpoe83 Very expensive

  • so you use rmx as a sound card, not for mixing... so, why didn't you buy a deejay trim?

  • @DJGPR2 The deejay trim did not exist at the time. DJ equipment in my town used to be scarce: not many stores sold quality equipment at reasonable prices, and therefore the access to soundcards in general was limited. The only options 3 years ago (the time when I bought the RMX), were the Numark I/O, the SL1 and the SL3.

  • Hello. I own a Hercules RMX myself and I don't know if you noticed but their is a scratching lag when you scratch from jog wheels of the Hercules RMX on Virtual DJ. After you scratch and let go of the jog wheel, it takes like a second to continue playing. Since you have used timecoded vinyls with the Hercules RMX, do you know if it continues to lag like I mentioned above or not?

  • @hollist831 I personally have never run in to this problem before, however I do not doubt it's validity. I would say that it sounds like your computer is not capable of multi-tasking well. What kind of computer are you using (Windows, Mac, how much RAM???). In addition, it could be something as simple as a faulty driver.

  • @hollist831 its because the jog wheels aren't touch sensitive so it only knows when to start playing the song when they're not moving

  • is it possible to link this way?.. turntables - numark M2 - normal audio interface - computer ??...pls reply..thanks

  • @nn8nn I am not familliar with the "normal audio interface". I cannot confirm. More details please.

  • @shawnki91 im using line 6 UX1 as an audio interface..

  • What time code vinyls do i need to buy for this to work...will scratch live ones work?

  • @drumkiter Both the first edition and second edition Serato Scratch Live vinyls will work! They have worked in numerous configurations for me!

  • @shawnki91 Great! Thanks :)

  • @shawnki91 Great! Thanks :) oh and what skin has you got on VDJ?

  • @drumkiter Version one, or version 2 will work.

  • If I bought the Numark M2 could I connect two outputs coming from my Numark DJ I/O (that is plugged into my computer) and then the master out of the M2 going to my PMP2000 powered mixer? I am wondering because I host Karaoke and want to be able to play the song through Otsav Pro and have the dynamic Mic playing through Fruityloops (Autotune)?

  • hey whats up, i have all the cables setup correctly but have a question. When i use a phone to rca cord to connect my maya44 to my reciever, i get good sound but my external mixer does not control anything. But when i switch the chord around and run from my mixer output to the line in of my reciever the mixer now switches channels but the sound quality is absolutely terrible and its all static and sounds like shit. Any idea why this might be happening?

  • bullshit!

  • PLEASE Answer MY Question!: do you really need the hercules rmx to hook up timecodes vinyls?

  • @0marbrav030 Yes. Without it, there is no way to send the timecoded signal in to the computer. There are some other USB soundcards out there, however I promote the one I've used in this film.

  • @shawnki91 Thanks, do you know some other cheap soundcards?

Im trying to get into dj i am planning on getting the stanton 150's with a Denon DN-X120 mixer using timecode vinyls, yet i still have a problem deciding what amp, speakers, and sounscard to get? any help please?

  • @shawnki91 i dont think u have to plug it in through the rmx u just need a decent sound card with 2 channels. cant u just run it through ur mixer anyway?

  • do you need the top thing??

aand can you work the Numark M2 by itself without turtables??

  • @JodieeMorgann Can you please describe in more detail what you would like to do? What do you define as the "top thing". The M2 can be used with a 3.5mm to RCA cable to control AUDIO only from VDJ. It cannot be used to control the software!

  • great video btw

  • hmm, what output do i select if i have a 4 channel mixer?

  • @mange96 are you using all 4 channels?

  • please help! can the RMX control at the same time as the mixer ???

  • @dJiHax Yes, of course

  • i have an aduio 2 dj sound card and i dont have the hercules, and i gave a numark m3 with numark turntables. the sound card has only 2 inputs, can i still use vdj lik you are with my stuff?

  • @xDJCRUZZZx Does that Audio 2 run via USB?

  • @shawnki91 yes it has one usb input.

  • can you run the rmx also so its like 4 decks?

  • @siondalion Not with VDJ. I have seen this done with Traktor!

  • @shawnki91 oh cheers so whats the realisticness of these timecodes any difference?

  • @siondalion Of course the major difference is that they feel like plastic not vinyl, otherwise, its the same deal!

  • OMG! i have this exact same set up! im talking EVERYTHING, 2 xT62's, hercules RMX, macbook, and the even the serato timecodes, only differant is im using a numark M4 mixer... how random is this!

  • @MatthewBryce Haha! Awesome! Enjoy

  • Excuse me mate, what do you mean by "time code", Im kind of new in the "business", I saw that "time code" term in a couple of videos about external mixers with virtual dj but I dont know what you guys mean with that..

    sorry about my english..

  • @ruben1289 It is a vinyl record that can be used to control an MP3 on the computer with the right software and DJ equipment.

  • Hey Nice tutorial Keep it up ! Btw I just have a little question :) Does this works with ANY mixer ? With maya 44 ?

  • @MrBatburn Those products should work!

  • @shawnki91

    Thank's

Do you know if that work with Traktor virtual vinyl ?

  • @MrBatburn Not sure!

  • Hello to everybody, someone know if also work with Maya 44 sound card ??

  • @BBOYDEE78

    Yes, it works.

  • do u have any suggestions on a good soundcard??????

  • @ht3qz Serato SL1 or SL3

  • @shawnki91 do they work with virtual dj???

  • @ht3qz I've had a user tell me they do, however in my experience with Vista and VDJ, forget about it. You may want to go for Hercules' standalone soundcard, or even the rmx or MKII

  • where can you plug in you speakers?

  • @PoefPardoes I have my mixer connected to an amp. The amp is connected to my speakers!

  • @shawnki91 alright, and how much did you paid for the turntables?

  • were did you get that virtual dj skin?

  • if u wanna use a pioneer 1000 , do you really need a hercules mixer , can you use the timecode just with a mixer, 2 cdj's, laptop & a timecode system? please explain , for me it is very important

  • @Kardinalloffi To link the CDJ 1000 MKIII to a computer, you need a USB soundcard interface such as serato.

  • @shawnki91 i am using hercules deejay trim timecode set, with virtual dj, that must work without the hercules remix control right?

  • are T.62's any good

  • @ando2230 They are not terrible. They are a good beginner turntable!

  • Do you need to buy another version of the Virtual DJ Software in order to use the timecodes, or do they work with the version you get when you buy the Hercules RMX?

  • @hansvalen The version that ships with the RMX does not support timecodes. You will need to purchase the pro edition in order to use the timecoded vinyls!

  • @shawnki91 How much is the update? I mean how much money do you get off by having the LE version, or are you expected to pay like 300 on it? Also, I don't know if you've ever used Serato, but it's what I'm used to and wondering is virtual dj as stable?

  • @hansvalen I think the update is $140. I actually did a gig recently with my partner's Serato rig, and it was amazing. Virtual DJ is much easier to use than Serato. Let me ask you this though? Why switch from Serato to VDJ?

  • @shawnki91 Would u say the running of the program itself is as stable as Serato though? (Pops, latency etc.) See I don't actually own the Serato. What I do have is an American audio versaport sound card and deckadance, I have gotten it to work before, but its so unbelievably frustrating, complicated and temperamental that I just want something reliable in a live situation. I was thinking of getting a Traktor or Serato, but then I thought it wud be good to have a midi controller as a backup = RMX

  • @hansvalen It is very stable

  • What is the price for all of this ?

  • @cristyeffect >$1000.00. I would say between $1000.00 to $1200.00

  • has the mixer got his own usb soundcard or is connected to the hercules console?

  • @InvasionSound It is connected to the console.

  • is tht mixer ONLY for scratching or can yu simply use it to fade (smoothly) from one song to another??

  • @djsinnay There are several crossfader settings. You can use it for scratch, however, you can also do smooth transitions!

  • but bcd2000 has one output, hercules 2 outputs....

  • @tvshopman As mentioned, you can;t use an external mixer then. You need to separate outputs!

  • hi. nice vid

could i use the vci100 and audio 4 dj instead of the rmx?

  • @IaMgEoRgE1 Audio 4 may have some compatibility issues with VDJ.

  • hi shawnki91 i have a question, do you think it is possible for a bcd2000 to work on the same set up as you have?

  • @crazyflip69 Yeah, that should work. Just realize, that you won't be able to use an external mixer!

  • I can connect as a total control numark denon cd case (midi controler) to VDJ.if you know please tell me how?

  • @jokerdjsound Ok, I don't think I understand entirely. What do you want to use with VDJ?

Numark Total control? If so, then yes, it will work!

  • Hello! First of all congrats for the tutorial... Anyway, I would like to make you a few questions. I'm using an RMX as well, can you tell me how can I connect it to an external mixer and still control the music on the RMX? I'll make an example: I want to play at a club w/ another DJ's and connect my RMX to the set that there is in the club. In this way another DJ's play their music on the external mixer and at my turn I'll be playing from my RMX, is it possible? Thanks for your time!

  • @AzevedoCDaniel It would be difficult to do this without having to unplug some cables. My advise: try and come to a consensus with the in-house DJ to use your kit for the night, maybe even slip him some cash to do so. Otherwise, if you start messing with wires during a set, you could end up with no music at all!

  • @shawnki91 Hmm I see... Thank you very much for your help! :)

  • Like you are using a controller as a soundcard can you actually controle anything in the software, like the effects parameters, without having to use the mouse???

  • @djrat0mix That is correct. I use it as a soundcard for my turntables and mixer, as well as a software MIDI controller.

  • What Happens if your are using a 4 channel mixer ? are there any changes?

    Nice vid

    Cheers

  • @djrat0mix VDJ will not natively support 4 channels. The maximum is 3. However here is a neat idea: Have two timecoded turntable plugged in to channel 1+2, and two CD players plugged in to channel 3+4. Use both your PC and CDs for mixing!

  • Hi, the video is super.

I have my Turntables, the Hercules RMX and my External mixer (Reloop IQ2 +) connected just like you showed it.

But I have no Sound from the IQ2+

    What's wrong?

  • did you download virtual dj or did you use the version included with the rmx

  • Great video man well detailed great job

  • @djpazzo4u Thanks man!

  • where u bought from?

  • @MrDarealsaint

    Bought what?

  • whats the cheapest way to get time code virtual dj setup on my computer and dj system i have a vestax 05 pro d mixer some usb headphones and some technics 1210

  • @canasfam You may want to consider a Hercules RMX like me, or a MAYA 44 USB

  • @shawnki91 do u need expensive needles for timecode

  • @canasfam No, but if you want to be able to scratch you will want to look in to Ortophones.

  • @shawnki91 Or he could look for Ortofon's, because ortophones don't exist. The industry standard scratch needles are M44-7's, and if you mix and scratch, you could get an M44-G.

  • how can i get this to werk with the serato box?

  • The serato box and the RMX will never work together!

  • Why don't you just use the RMX as your mixer?

  • As a mixer alone, the RMX has a very juvenile feel to it. Also, the cross fader is a little short

  • What skin is that ?

  • The Serato skin

  • how do you get the serato skin on vdj bro?

  • You'll need a virtual DJ license. When you enter it on their website, then you will have access to the downloads section!

  • How can i record the mixer's effects?

  • I told you about my set up...and you said that i need to buy a USB soundcard. Is it necessary and what exactly does it do? Ive seen guys not using a soundcard

  • The USB soundcard interface takes the timecoded signal and feeds it in to the computer, thereby allowing you to control Trakto or VDJ.

  • yeahhh yeahh bro i know what your saying. The package comes with the soundcard. It comes with the soundcard, the traktor software (CD), 2 timecoded vinyls, and all the cords and cables i need...and then im also getting the 2 stanton turntables and a mixer. At that...does it sound this is all the equipment that is needed to start DJing?

  • It sounds like you're well on your way. Plug your turntables in to any groundable (i.e. a mixer with some grounding knobs on the back for the turntables) mixer, and you're all set!
