They were probably changing lanes quickly and recklessly. I have a 2000 A6 and it is very stable unless you start whipping 3800 lbs of car around, then the weight transfer will carry the car places not necessarily intended. Probably happened here. Smooth lane changes is what I do.

In such a crash, responding officers would automatically assume that speed was a factor. Assuming that it was in tact, they would have immediately extracted the data logs which would have showed the exact same data. The fact that they still posted the video does not prove they are smart, but I doubt it was really the reason for the $1000 fine.
