Hey rhys we do not take credit for things we do not do, but considering what we have done I think the work speaks for itself.
Now who else but the Europeans would build an airplane that can not land at about 95% of the airports in the world...LOL.
I am not sure if you have ever seen the new secret A5G17 from Boeing, but it can carry about 984 people plus have enough room for three buses, two tanks and still be able to put in an indoor swimming pool with a sauna and some pole dancers.
they this is nothing, i am german and the a380 flow over are house in 400m hight for more then two weeks to test the plane. so cool, best plan ever build.
That has to be one of the slowest approach speeds i've ever seen. My girlfriend works at EWR and i take the NEC line all the time, and i've never seen a plane that slow. Must have efficient wing. Still don't like it though, i bet the 747-8 will put airbus out for good.
O_o moron... you don't understand what I'm saying. I know they are 2 different companies. But I posted that because I found that out the same time I found out they stopped making 747s. Be nice.
I am waiting for the stretched version of this one ( future A380-900), cause the A340-600 is still much longer than this A380-800, and for me, longer is bigger. :)
Pollution CO2,part of production in the world: France: 1%, USA:30%.I just answer to the man who has said that the A380 was bad for environement. I like USA, I love France!
The 787 will surely be a revelation to environmently friendly aircraft in the mid sized airframe market as the larger fan size engines will make it quieter and more efficient. But, I think larger long haul craft like the A380 and 747-8 will always have the advantage of higher passenger capacity (600 or more)thus meaning that fuel burn per passanger inevitably works out less, usually burning as much per seat per mile as the average family car (Lower emissions).
The 787 is more likely to compete with the A350 range which will house similar spec Engines and seating arrangements so depending what the weight of these are on completion will hugely effect the outcome..I think both of these are looking to be impressive aircrafts...:-)
just unbelievable that plane comes empty from toulouse to LAX!! that's more than 100 tons of fuel and god knows how much CO2 emissions!!even as a pilot making a living i can't justify that!!
While I agree with your "green" sensibilities, you have to test a plane like this thoroughly before you start flying it with lots of people on board. The only way to test it is to fly it. The fact that this plane is more fuel efficient per passanger than most other planes around today will make up for the fuel "wasted" during testing.
I think everybody having seen this (not only from TV) understand that a new era of aviation has arrived. Absolut new technology - so silent, graceful & highly fuel efficient. I hope that the environment protection finally benefits from new air-technology. In comparison the 3 decades old Boeing 747 sounds and looks like an old, oily traktor. It's good that Boeing also contributes an advanced aircraft for the purpose of environment protection when launching the midsized Dreamliner next year.
I still think the Boeing 747 is a great aircraft, but I agree with your sentiment. I can't wait to fly on one of these. I'll have to vacation in Australia and fly Quantus to get there :-)
It's so funny to see so many ppl turned out for one plane. I was excited but I had no idea this many ppl cared about it.

Unlike Europeans Americans do not take credit for things they haven't done.
We are quite proud of our accomplishments. When you Europeans put an A380 on the god damn moon come around and talk to us. We did it 40 years ago.

Yes, minimum approach-speed of A-380 is 100 knots, ca. 23% less then the normal landing speed of 125-130 knots.

so they stopped making the 747-400 to make way for the A380? Not a big deal..

Get your facts right before posting idiot. Boeing makes the 747-400, A380 is from Airbus. It sounds like you think they're from one company.

Exactly, and the A380 sets a new standard with 3,3l per passanger/100km and will carry more people then the 748.
Its emission are the half of the cars which will be built apart 2008 and should meet Emission Standard Euro 3.

Not at all, depending on the mission the emissions will be lower on the A380.Also

Well, the Lax A-380 came empty no pax with some heavy waterbuckets inside, the A-380 in JFK came with 500 pax.
