US Production of conventional oil peaked in the 70's, and have been on decline since. And the booming economies in Asia are not helping to solve the upcoming proplems of a major shortage.

Why do Americans ridicule foreign people because they don't speak proper English. In Swedish the expression "small people" means "ordinary people" in a positive sense. If you heard Americans speak Swedish you would, hopefully, be a bit more humble.

On top of that it was an US company that built the items that failed out in the ocean. Yes. BP is defintly not going to get out of this with no dmg, they deserve that much. But if you think BP is the one and only you're wrong. On top off it its a world ecological disaster. Not an US one.

If the Gulf oil spill is leaking 50,000 barrels a day and the US consumes 20,000,000 barrels a day, that means that one well could produce 50,000/20,000,000= .25% of our total daily needs. In other words, 400 wells like this one is all we need to not import any oil! Wake up!! Big oil is holding back producing and lying about supply to keep these prices high!! Soooo much oil is coming out of that one well they don’t even have a way to refine it all.

@CharlieVegas53 Someone really needs to refresh their basic math. The US consumes about 20 MILLION barrels of crude everyday. Daily production is somewhere about 85 Million barrels a day. US Production of conventional oil peaked in the 70's, and have been on decline since. There are only a few major (conventional) oil exporting countries left that have not reached maximum production yet. And the booming economies in Asia are not helping to solve the upcoming proplems of a major shortage.

Of Course, it's a huge mistake to refer people to "small people". Still, would a soccer punch be the best way to handle this situation? Yes he is from Sweden, but you can't judge sweden - who is a lot better than US. And what's up with Sweden not being a safe country because their wallet was stolen?
