It's true, unless you are at a computer, you can't actually see the filtered reviews. If you are on a computer and you go to the bottom of the business's page, you will see a light gray link that says "read x amount of filtered reviews," click on that and you can still actually see the "filtered" reviews. It's ridiculous because there is this one business where I am and it has 4 reviews, all of which are filtered, but are positive reviews. wtf?
Yelp is fine. I think it's a great tool to level the playing field between shitty businesses and the customers they screw over day to day. The person who put this video together is probably an idiot.
Um, no people that's not how it works. Yelp will take down reviews that are flagged by Yelpers because they are suspicious. If that Yelper only have one review and that's for your business then most likely it will be flagged and taken down. It's mostly Yelpers that do the flagging. Don't get it twisted.
I can't speak to Yelp's business model other than I have had 8 clients who've written glowing reviews about my business - all have been filtered. The filtering of my reviews began when I declined to advertise with Yelp. At the time I had 4 reviews. Every review has been filtered since. When I inquired to Yelp they stated that all the reviews did not meet their criteria. Yelp has refused to forward official documentation corroborating their rationale as to what constitues valid criteria vs none.
Exactly the same thing happened to me. I have 13 good reviews, all filtered! I had a couple of good reviews on my listing until a few days after a yelp sales rep called me and I declined to buy advertising.
Yelp does hurt small business. I have had several good reviews, and they quickly get deleted, and the only one that is up there is a negative one. Thanks Yelp!!
Read any good conspiracy theories lately? If this was true, then why aren't we seeing any ex-Yelp employees coming forward to confirm this to be true? An ex-employee would have no loyalty or fear of retaliation. And its also interesting how these class action lawsuits are getting tossed out too.
@dakatdkr ...& lol have you seen the investigations from the major media? It is a real thing they do. Go to Yelps web page and read up on it. LOL Conspiracy theories? lol

I bet Yelp can't remove these comments, or this video. Now THAT'S an even playing field.
