So true man. What a barren wasteland for music the 90's was! There are others that may be more to blame than Nirvana tho. I think part of the problem was that heavy rock was taken too far into glam, with bands like Poison etc. it just became a like parody, and I think people were repulsed by guitar iconography in general for the best part of a decade to follow. The unique in the U2's style has still been kept and I really think there are good moments in How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb and All That You Can't Leave Behind. And their last album "No Line On The Horizon" is really great. A simple example of this is the fact that The Edge still does his typical 'ringing'

So true man. What a barren wasteland for music the 90's was! There are others that may be more to blame than Nirvana tho. I think part of the problem was that heavy rock was taken too far into glam, with bands like Poison etc. it just became a like parody, and I think people were repulsed by guitar iconography in general for the best part of a decade to follow. I hope we never go back to those times. Long live rock n roll, long live the blues! Long live the King

@ultimateguitar553 Nirvana has nothing to do with the downfall in the quality of U2's music, you forget that their creative zenith (considered by many ) came wth Achtung Baby, which was during the era of Nirvana.
Nirvana achieved something that even U2 and R.EM could not achieve and that is make the money minded greedy corporations actually respect music and alternative.
It is just U2's desperate need to "re-invent " themselves with every freakin album that has led to their downfall.

@ultimateguitar553 Actually Bon Jovi has never been great or good musician. He has always been "keeping the times". The unique in the U2's style has still been kept and I really think there are good moments in How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb and All That You Can't Leave Behind. And their last album "No Line On The Horizon" is really great. A simple example of this is the fact that The Edge still does his typical 'ringing'

@ultimateguitar553 actually the only giant band in the world that played THE EXACT same thing without wearing it out is AC/DC. I don't believe that changing the sound is necessarily a bad thing, it only depends on how you do it.

U2 did this one song of blues it wasnt like their whole material was blues based. if u wana listen to blues, listen bb king, muddy waters, led zeppelin, nt U2 or NIRVANA coz their musical genres r different
