Hi, is there any hope for someone who has had acl reconstruction surgery in 2004?i am now 37 and the lateral meniscus was destroyed from playing sports on a torn meniscus for several years before surgery. it was thus removed. now there is bone on bone contact with arthritis resulting on the lateral side. I cannot run or squat on the injured leg. My doctors do not wish to do any surgery other than knee replacement. Any advise you may have would be great. thanks
I have interest in flying over to San Fran to be a patient. I am a 22 year old male that suffered a patella fracture 2 years ago that resulted with ORIF surgery. Now i can feel the cartilage damage, pain scale is maybe 3 or 4, but mostly i feel instability and joint weakness. Should i get this procedure?? Will I feel somewhat normal again?
Can this procedure be used for hand bones? The cartilage on my right thumb has worn down and my doctor has suggested bone fusing for my right thumb which I want to avoid like the plague!
The cartilage formed is often a mixture of hyaline and fibrocartilage. The specific type did not affect the outcome in our 2-12 year study with 85% of patients having improved pain and function.

Hello! How does this compare with matrix-induced autologous chondrocyte implantation (MACI) - third-generation?
Thanks for sharing this information.
