  • The graphics for this game are top notch for the 2600. As much as I loved this game the Sega Master systems version was the one I bought (which came out before this I think). God I even remember the Gamepro mag prob. Dec. "89 that covered this game.

  • looks pretty alright

  • son todos unos petecos

  • Worst. Conversion. Ever.

  • My favourite 2600 game.

  • This game was made in 1989. It was one of the very last games ever programmed for the Atari 2600. The music on this game is quite impressive for the Atari 2600. The graphics are also pretty good for the Atari 2600. Sorry you didn't like it.

  • just a side note, that is some of the worst graphics i have ever seen

  • this cant even be CALLED a video game. wow, im so glad i never had to experience the shitty 70's videogame consoles, long live the master system

  • @silentmajorityrules lmao faggot no respect for vintage video games lol

  • @ken0176 and the master system isnt vintage

  • i never could get passed the second screen EVER

  • They would probably like the NES version better if they owned both the NES and the Double Dragon Game. I owned neither at the time.

Also, Atari was so much faster and more responsive than the NES. It had a whole different feel which I liked much better despite the inferior graphics. I was happy using my imagination for the lack of graphics -- even today.

  • Why would anyone possibly want to play this over the NES version?

  • Thank God I never had an Atari. Nintendo was way better.

  • This if the first time I see someone using an erection to fight.

  • @BlitzkriegBR Everyone's a comedian!

  • @dyancey Sorry man, didn't mean any offense.

Doesn't look bad and is certainly very complex for a 2600 game.

  • @BlitzkriegBR No offense taken. Thanks for watching the video. lol

  • @BlitzkriegBR you haven't seen street fucker for sega genesis?

  • They seriously tried to port this game to that system? Sheesh. Well, at least it turned out decent.

  • @SergeantLuke dood. It looks decent. Try playing it xD I sucked at that

  • i didnt know double dragon ever came out for the ole 2600

  • the colours are fuckd up :D :P

  • @dushanostoich That's the way they were on the NTSC 2600 unless you had a PAL console.

  • i remember kids comments about this version, back in the end of 90´s. But we thought wasjust a rumor.

We use to refer to the game as "Double Dragon Zero" (way before SF Zero and stuffs)

  • most of the people who posted bad comments in this video dont even realize that there wasn't good technology back in the 1980's i mean

the atari wasn't that powerful as the Nes or other advanced systems of that time

  • The levels are different colours..

  • Yeah, it is awesome. Most people never play it to the second or third level. They never see all of the colors and hear all of the music that got magically crammed into the Atari 2600. Brilliant!

  • I completed the game back in the very late 80s and early 90s. The colours were different to me and the player characters were blue and red. Is this on ROM?

  • If you are outside of the USA, then you probably played an a PAL Rom instead of an NTSC ROM. That will make the colors different.

  • Would it be possible to remake this on gamemaker?

  • I usually use jump kicks on women in real life lol

  • Huh, interesting...I never knew Atari 2600 had Double Dragon. Looking at the date, it was made well into the NES years. I guess people were still buying Atari games in 1989? I wonder when companies stopped making games for the 2600?

  • This is so old. I miss this. I could never beat it though.

  • Just do what ah say-edd!! Stay at the bottom for the first GAH!

HEY MA! GET OFF THE DANG ROOF!!!

  • This is a game that should never have been tried on the atari 2600, it was like trying to port Cruisin' USA to the NES. The 2600 at it's best couldn't even come close. The newest game that the atari 2600 does justice to is KLAX, which isn't bad at all and has most of the features, if not the graphics, of the arcade original.

  • It looks like he's using something else to kick... if you get my drift. That's just.... horrible.

  • That's one hell of a shitty port.

  • I know right?

  • For a 2600 this is a pretty elaborate game.

  • Why did they bother to release that game on a system that was dead when I much better state of the art system had the same game that was much better? Intellivision and Colecovision were already better systems not to mention the NES.

  • They released it on the 2600 because so many people still owned them, as well as their newest version the Atari Lynx or 7800 I think it was called.

  • MAybe because some people, like me, are fanatically devoted to the Atari. It has a religious overtone for me. (Bettcha forgot about your 1 year old comment?)

  • How do you do it? I'm getting the game just want to make sure. And thanks for the fast response!

  • Can you jump?

  • You can do a "jump kick", but you cannot jump straight up like on some other DD versions.

  • did you make this game?

  • I made this video demo, but I did not program this game.

  • well, it beats ET, haha

  • @A9420 NOTHING beats ET

  • Holy cow this game even gives helpful hints as you play it! It's like K.I.T.T.!

  • Is this game possible to playing 2 people at the same time ??

  • Yes, 2 player simultaneous play is possible. However, I do not recommend it. One player is limited to the top half of the playfield, while the other is limited to the bottom half. This makes most of my methods of play impossible. The game is much more difficult in 2 player mode and your score will be much lower. Plus, I've never found anyone else who is good at the game to really give it a real try.

  • LOL FUCKING AWESOME GAME DUDE !!^^i ever played atari 2600 as children..but i never know that exist double dragon on atari....:-(.I must go to buy a new atari mi old is bust but i still have the games : D!!Thx for video dude!^^

  • That tactic you're using on Bolo (?) at the end reminds me of the tactic I was using to beat Abore (DD2 Arcade) the other day... moving diagonally as you punch.

  • It looks and play even worse then the c64

    version.

  • Man I remember giving up on this game years ago when I was like 5 cuz I got pissed off with it haha

  • they look like kids fighting on a snow day...

  • Unbelievable! I want SMB for 2600! XD

  • OMG DD was on 2600!!

  • LOL, i remember beating this whole game just by elbowing everyone.

  • Hey, that's what I did in my Atari 2600 DD videos haha! ^_^

  • Ahhh crap, this was a reply to dolomite51's post ...

  • didnt realise games where still made made for this machine in 1989

  • can you believe this could be on atari? awesome

  • thats not wierd actually... there is not a big differense in the tecnical part between the 2600 and the NES

  • ah. yeah, but the controls really are confusing on atari for dd

  • What? There is a huge difference, at least on the NES you can tell that those moving objects are people!

  • he mean control

  • wat a dumbass

  • shut da hell up im 7 years old

  • in the 1994 sold donkey kong country

  • this game doesn't look to bad with Atari graphics

  • Why would Atari do this, it's just wrong. But then Aatari always made business decisions instead of artistic ones which is why i sucked so badly after Nintendo and Sega came out.

  • @periechontology Atari didn't do this. Activision did.

  • Wow, and I thought the C64 version was crap!!

  • 1994?? Are you sure about that? Looks more like '84 to me.

  • This video is the Atari 2600 not the Jaguar.

  • nope, VA. Not WV either, lol!

  • MOST BASIC CHARACTER DETAIL

  • LAST LINE WHILE NEGLECTING EVEN THE

  • SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT COLOR THAN THE

  • ROWS OF LINES WITH EACH COLOR A

  • I LIKE HOW ALOT OF ATARI GAMES GIVES

  • I had this game when i was a kid. It was one of the few atari 2600 games i managed to beat.

If i remember correctly the boss has a gun and after you rescue your missus it simply says 'you win'.

  • nice job i cant get past the 3rd screen

  • "I just use jumpkicks on the women"

that was the funniest fuckin thing I've ever heard

  • Doesn't look too bad considering it's on the 2600.

  • The elbow smash was the shit. It would knock everyone down in one hit, even the big-muscle dudes (even though, they'd get back up).

  • Worst DD game ever!

  • There was a Double Dragon game for atari way before they made 1 for Nintendo?

  • There was also an Atari 7800 version.

  • So the Atari people came up w/ the Double Dragon idea way b4 the Nintendo people did. Now I know.

  • Nope, Double Dragon for the NES was released in May 1988, and the Atari 2600/7800 versions were released in 1989.

  • I see. When did Atari 2600/7800 come out exactly?

  • 2600 came out in 1977. The 7800 was released after NES I think. This 2600 version of DD was indeed released in 1989 when the Atari was resurrected in the Jr. Model at a cheap price of $49.00.

  • Actually, the 7800 was released in May/June 1984, but it was discontinued for 2 years as soon as Jack Tramiel bought the company. But the NES still pre-dates the 7800 (the NES originated as the Famicom in Japan in 1983).

  • This game looks and play terribly.

  • I didn't program it. I'm just attempting to show people how to play it more easily. Most claim it is unplayable. I've played all the way to the end. The 2600 version doesn't have a "continue" feature, so there's no cheating. Cheers, David

  • I know, I've actually played the game. I'm surprised you got as far as you did. I was just pointing out the game is awful.

  • Man I know it's old but god damn this version looks like shit.

  • Anyone got footage of the 7800 version?

  • :-P noever thought DD is on 2600 :O. xl/xe user :).

  • Agreed WTF Man DD is on every thing.

  • Learn how to master use of the elbow smash at will can guarantee success in this (very difficult)version of Double Dragon. I've beaten this game many times since I got it during the 80's doing nothing but elbow smashes to beat each opponent down.
