  • Do I just keep doing my thing (to where ever I am) and not think about it? Because not thinking about it is avoiding it. And then you say responding it to in a way of deep belly-breathing and embracing the fear, but how do I do that and keep on doing what ever I was doing.

  • Thankyou! Just listening to this reduced the, pretty much constant, chest and abdomen pain I suffer from as a result of panic disorder.

My first attack was just 11 days ago, and I've been in constant discomfort ever since. Funnily enough, I don't really feel a lot of "anxiety." It's more like physical discomfort, but I have had a couple of severe attacks that sent me to hospital which obviously brought a lot of anxiety.

  • PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDS THERE GREAT.

  • I've been practicing this ever since i read Claire's first book when i was a kid. Problem is, i feel the panic the second i get into a store or around a group of people and even if i try to float through it, it just remains...that awful feeling. While i realize it's not dangerous, that's like saying. "A guy has a gun to your head but he's not going to kill you" Well, that's not dangerous then, but it's horribly uncomfortable and who would put themselves in that situation?

  • Thanks for your insights. I have to say I'm often tricked as the panic attacks I have are usually begin with an irregular heart beat. A skip here a lurch there, and then as anyone would sheer terror. was checked out by MD but of course that wasn't happening so no solution. Problem I have now is when I get a shot of adrenalin my heart putters, and makes it terrible. Thanks again.

  • i am agoraphobic for last 8 years . i do all of my jobs but i am afraid all the time when i am out of my house or office.

i had last panic attack 5 years back.

plz help me to get freedom

  • dave thanks for your videos.

i had about 10 panic attacks in six month time 7 years back but till today i am afraid of having one more.

i feel spinning head only when i am out of home .strange thing is that i only feel spinning head when i am with some one .i am safe out of home only when i am alone. WHAT IS THAT ?

  • he is awesome.

  • 25 yrs and counting. Thanks Dave, I am off to visit the website now. I must commend you on your approach. I have read Claire's books and found them to be useful, but lacking in what you describe as the freeze moment. I respond with the first... discomfort is danger. I have tried everything to date. Anyway, thank you.

  • My favourite point on this is that Dave is the one of the only people on youtube who doesn't hard sell. Strangely, his is the only book I've bought! It's very useful too. The techniques you need to reduce panic can be demotivating as they take so long to master, but do work eventually...kind of like going to the gym and hoping you can lift huge weights immediately, you need to train until it's an automatic response.

  • thanks for videos it helps me but please post more videos.

  • INGENIOUS. Now, after having suffered with these problems and not having appropriate treatment since I was 8, how do I arrive in Chicago when I reside in NC, and am afraid of driving and flying? A train won't help much either, since I'm afraid of open spaces. Ohh man.

  • 1:46 says it all. Thanks so much for your simple logic and fantastic analogies. This is all new to me.

BTW, anyone ever tell you that you look a little like Mr. Rogers?

Thanks again- watch this video over and over when feeling "discomfort" it helps me "float"... along with a little Xanax.

  • thanks i had one yesterday. it was horrifying and i thought i was going to die. i still have some small tightness in my chest. i am only 26. that was something

  • Thank you so much for creating these videos. They're really wonderful and really help to explain what panic attacks are and how to get through them. I look forward to seeing more when you make them. Would you consider making a video that panic sufferers like myself can show to friends and family members to help explain to them what we go through and how to support us during the recovery process? Thank you again, Dr. Carbonell.

  • Great information, Dr. Cabonell. You speak of this subject so well and it makes so much sense that one wonders how they ever allowed themselves to fall for such a trick. In a way, you almost feel foolish for not figuring this out on your own. It's very eye-opening.

  • I try to make it as plain as I can, but it's not easy to see through the trick when you're caught up in it. When I go to do something I fear, like walking across the Golden Gate Bridge, I get tricked like everyone else!

  • Thank you very much Dr. Carbonell. I myself suffer from panic attacks, they are very debilitating and are a crippling problem to suffer from. I know alot of people suffer from these things, just like me, yet I'm embarassed to say I suffer from them. I know that they come from my thoughts and feelings and I try to overcome them in a logical way, but they always seem to win out. Please keep posting, as it helps people with this distressing condition.

  • Good video, thank you.
