I was Draco Malfoy to disarm Dumbledore - you don't have to kill the old master of the wand, you just need to take it against his will. Draco shouted the spell "Expelliarmus" and that is why the wand recognised him as its new master. Severus Snape killed Dubledore, but did not defeat him - they had planned it beforehand!
