  • their are 3 people with no taste

  • Oh yes Yim owns this I wish they had recorded him singing on the album version

  • 128,126 thousand views are me, simply replaying this body of art. This is absolutely beautiful.

  • I haven't heard this version until now. I like this, James' voice is a good contrast to Ward's, but I think I like the album version better. Good stuff regardless.

  • still my favorite MOF song. I prefer the version on the record where M. Ward sings, but this version is also beautiful. Can visualize this song, although it has been long since I've travelled by train.

  • this song is beautiful. i could listen to it for hours

  • This is absolutely beautiful... Music for the soul.

  • conor looks like a ghost at the end, hanging over jim james like that.. :)

  • Each member is incredible. End of story.

  • @Michaelness123 Well... lol. Conner Oberst is only incredible when he tries. :)

  • JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF LIKES ---____---

  • if no other media such as news, tv, literature, existed besides MoF, the world might just get thrown into another Ice Age due to the level of chill that would follow listening to them all the time :)

  • This one should be on the record... it's way better than the one on it...

  • @Diablo112687 That's how I felt about Temazcal. It just sounds so much more beautiful than it does on the record.

  • Look 3 people are deaf.

  • I keep coming back to this song. I soothes my mind. Whatever will be will be. Their voice makes me want to cry with joy.

  • seriously incredible

  • MASTERS!

  • Excellent!....is that a mellotron I'm hearing?

  • Excellent!.......is that a mellotron I'm hearing?

  • dear GOD... thank you for MOF

  • JAMES IS AN ALL AROUND AMAZING TALENT. There is still good music around, and still being made. You just have to know where to look

  • great stuff

  • I was so tired and frizzazzled. You tranced me into a hypnotic relaxaing peace. I love you. I do.

  • I would kill for a gibson acoustic... =(

  • If art like this didn't exist, what would be the point. Absolutely phenomenal. It's hard not to have faith in people when this can happen.

Additionally. This group has more consolidated talent than any other group, err.. ever.

  • Jim James and M.ward. <3 all the way xD

  • absolutley horrible.....music on the radio that is.

  • first herd these guys on PBS but dont say that im not a real fan. wait i almost forgot this isint a metal video. these fans arent retarded dick heads.

  • when m. ward comes in at 1:13 he just absolutely nails it. his voice is so smokey and smooth

  • @davemcconn That's my favorite part of the whole tune

  • @davemcconn m. ward always sounds soo good w/ these guys..this is a prime example..and the temazcal version where he does the vocals... he's good on his own,too... but i find he always gives a little something extra w/ MOF... but hey.. all these guys rock, how could you not be trying to keep up w. these guys..

  • @davemcconn Too true

  • definitely my favourite MOF song, as sung by M. Ward. This version is ok, but not as beautiful as the original versionl

  • i love jim james and mmj and this band and yim yames its crazy how different they are

  • Jim James's soul seems like it doesn't fit in his body, just look at the way he moves while playing! Man, that's what I call passion.

  • 3 people fail at life for not liking this video.

  • piiiiiinche jim james!

  • this is M Ward!!!

  • omg these guys just ignite so well togather

  • why the f is jim james singing this song? this is m. ward's song!

  • @metalocalypsechick whoever sang the song on the record switched with someone else. the recording of "Temazcal" is sung by Conor but it's sung by m. ward here.

plus it doesn't matter because they all sound beautiful

  • jim+m=heaven

  • M. Ward has such a soothing voice

  • make sure a Asian women *lushfmlk.info*

  • the contrast of Jim and M.Ward's voice is like almost enlightening.

  • Is this video being messed up for other peoples computers as well?

  • they need to make another album together!

  • @ihawk247 They have!

  • 3 dislikes? Seriously? This is a masterpiece!!!

  • M. Ward's voice is so freaking amazing!

  • I wish I could sing so softly and beautiful as Jim James...He has such a great voice mate...one of those kind of voices that expreses you all the feelings.

  • thank christ that pure talent still exists. beautiful. i'm loving conor on the keyboard.

  • Jim James is one of the most unique talents the music world will ever see. Its to bad our radios are flooded with garbage....... Absolutely beautiful.

  • tgis is the most beautiful collaboration I have ever seen.

  • it's like the modern version of The Band it's pretty good

  • This is one of those songs that makes you stop doing whatever you're doing and just listen. It's breath taking.

  • i wanna hear conor cover this song!

  • helll yeah.

    i can't wait for they're next album

  • @jaccobr i'm pretty sure MOF was a "one time" thing

  • beautiful music <3

  • well how bout that, m. ward singing on the album, and jimmy james singing on this one. think it works better with jim at the helm here.

  • @derpusderp It does sound good! I have the album too and noticed that as well, but I honestly like MWard better, but it's still really great! Peace to you.

  • amazing!! <3

  • I love how Mike Mogis' mandolin has the same body as Bob Dylans bass in the end of the line music video.

  • fucking love this song its on like a muslim prayer 5 times a day

  • wow. im amazed

  • What a beautiful jam

  • I can't decide who's voice I like best; Jim James, M. Ward, or Conor Oberst. Such a tough decision

  • Looks like a Gibson Lg-1, which I am about to purchase in two days.

  • Nine miles away is monster locomotive repair terminal, in this big train town. Cumberland,Md. Nice!

  • i saw them at the roxy in london and they were amazing yim and ward especially, the album seems to lack a bit of hunger for me x

  • are these alternative versions available for download or on an album? please, please keep ridin' that train!!

  • Dear MOF:

Can I hang out with you guys? Can I be the fifth Monster? Pleeeeeeease?

    Sincerely,

    MIdget of Folk

  • I sing this song to my puppy and she loves it, I think this song his a connection to our souls. I just love all these artists, theyre having fun while making beautiful music, life is good!

  • this has to be fake... the audio is too perfect... the harmonies...

  • Comment removed

  • YES! Traveling Wilburys in current time. Haha God Monsters of Folk are INCREDIBLE. Woww =)

  • I will never forget how beautiful life can be when you listen to MOF

  • okay i did some research and found it. sorry i guess we were both right lol. it turns out it is an electric mandolin-guitar! okay so if you navigate to 2:55 on the "temazcal" video in which monsters of folk are playing in this same live setting, youll get a good view of what mike mogis is playing. then, type this in google "octave twelve electric jerry jones shorty" scroll to the bottom of the page, and its at the bottom left. mogis is playing a jerry jones shorty electric-mandolin

  • @SherKhan0122 at the end, i didnt mean to type electric-mandolin i meant electric mandolin-guitar

  • I appreciate the willingness to experiment but still prefer the original album version of just M Ward. I think it's one of his best.

  • Me too, but it is a great version, nevertheless! The video is beautiful as well.

  • I love the combination of James's beautiful high notes and M. Ward's deep raspy serenade.

  • i just found these guys while watching bright eyes videos... im liking it a LOT!

  • this is the kind of music that is capable of BIG things. i have so much respect for these guys

  • it is most definitely a mandolin. its an electric mandolin

  • @SherKhan0122 Sorry for the late reply. I can't find ANYTHING about that mandolin that he's playing. Are you sure it's a mandolin? I heard somewhere it may be like a 3/4 scale 12-string electric guitar. I'm thinking maybe he made that thing because I can't find it anywhere.

  • this is what beauty is.

  • CONOR OBERST! <3

  • jim james makes my pants wet every time i hear his voice.

  • An interesting version, but way better with Ward singing...

  • man I want to melt when I hear this, sooo much better than the album version. I would die to see them live.

  • Very Nice Boys!

  • that sunburst Gibson..which one?

  • what is that funky looking instrument mike mogis is playing? greatest band EVER

  • I believe that is a 12 string electric mandolin. Such a great sound!

  • Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. Perfect comparison

  • thats cool to here Jim James sing this

  • What is that instrument Mike Mogus is playing? A mandoline? Its beautiful

  • @muahahaha101

looks like mogus is playing a danelectro longhorn 12-string but i could be wrong though, the scale looks pretty short.

  • Ummm, most definitely not a mandolin. I'm not sure what kind of guitar it is.

  • The harmonies in this are perfect. Bravo boys.

  • the best of the best.fuckin brill.gorgous.i love the the lot. mward rules

  • I don't think I could get tired of watching this video. there is, what i consider, magic in this

  • Thanks for posting these vids!

not to be naive, but is there any way you could suggest that they work on "Ahead Of the Curve' or "Baby Boomer"?

i would just love to hear them with a different lead vocal

    :)

regardless, i know the next one will be just as crazy

    !

  • This is modern day Traveling Wilburys!

    Jim James to Roy Orbison

    Mike Mogis to Jeff Lyne

Conor Oberst to Tom Petty and Bob Dylan

and M. Ward to George Harrison

This is a large amount of talent and love and i love all of it!

  • I have to go for the obviouse comparison to

Crosby, Stills, Nash & (Bolo) Young

  • Crolande -- Agree with you on the CSNY comparison.

  • @mkrugkill Love the comparison. I thought about a moder-day Traveling Wilburys after hearing Jenny Lewis' version of "Handle With Care" and it isn't too far off from this. I think someone like Ben Gibbard in the Orbison role would be awesome (as it was in that version) but I don't know that I'd ever want to hear a MoF song without Jim James in it!

  • @mkrugkill Conor to tom petty AND bob Dylan??

    fuck yeah

  • conor oberst to bob dylan?

    bah?

  • @samcare goat voices my man, goat voices. (ella fitz, bob dylan, petty, devendra banhardt, conor oberst)

  • @mkrugkill i like the vid too man but conor oberst to bob dylan? you serious?!

  • @theantibling obviously conor oberst is no bob dylan but they both fall in the same falsetto vocalized folky music category.

  • @theantibling and tom petty. lol hes not as brilliant as either in my opinion let alone the combination of the two. lol

  • @mkrugkill I would say that's a little off. Jim James is more relatable to George Harrison, and M. Ward has definitely got the Bob Dylan vibe going, with the glasses and scruffy voice. the others fit pretty nicely

  • @mkrugkill

I'd probably say Jim James to George Harrison and M Ward to Bob Dylan (in terms of voice, not necessarily song-writing; I agree with the Conor-Bob comparison in that regard).

Nobody's voice holds a candle to Roy's, but Roy and Jim DO both have the ability to make me cry!!

  • Jim James

  • No it's not.

I Think it's definetly Will Johnson, drummer of MoF. He also sang this on the live show I was.

His record 'Vultures Await' is something everyone must listen who likes MoF

  • @Roelinhetdoel The CD version is M. ward. This version Jim James. M. Wards is so much better though.

  • who is the lead singer? not conor or m ward........

  • From what I understand, there's not set roles within the band like lead singer, lead guitarist etc. It's just a collaborative effort between 4 unique and talented musicians.

  • In this video, Jim James from My Morning Jacket sings lead vocals, but on the album, Ward does.

  • they all have the about the same amount of songs on the album

  • @gbjdmd Jim James.

  • the whole album is awsome i can never put it down

  • wow..this song could have been written...100 years ago excellent..thes guys are fantastic.

  • I get the chills listening to these guys...too beautiful for words...

  • that is so freaking cool that they have a different member sing their songs in these videos. sweet.

  • Amazing, I just saw them live in T.O.

One hell of a good show.. I love all of them.

So much talent flowing through the place, couldn't help but to well up at some songs.

    <33

  • This makes me believe that we still have a chance to bring good music back.

  • There's alot of good bands out there, you just have to know where to look. Let me know if there's a particular type of music you're looking for and I'm sure I'll know something you'd like

  • This is amazing live! Especially those highnotes

  • Can anyone tell me the intrument Mike Mogas is playing? 12 string mandolin?

  • @bubsadoozy

That's exactly it, it is a 12 string electric mandolin has a really beautiful tone.

  • have not heard music like that in years, beautiful!

  • wow ! bin grad zufällig auf dieses video gelandet und war beeindruckt ,hör eigentlich nicht so eine musik aber hab grad voll die gänsehaut bekommen echt schönes Lied 5 *

  • I'm seeing them today in Philly! I can't wait!
