  • In a way I hope that all the people saying 'WebGL can do this' are eventually right (I've not seen proof that they are , currently), because I see the ditching of flash on mobile devices as a very bad thing indeed, and given the choice of developing content that is limited to desktop devices, or content that will be viewable on all devices, I'd be tempted to migrate to HTML5.. But it's not ready yet (And actually performs worse on many cases than flash)

    why would you need a fullscreen hardware acceleration, a fake full screen do just the same.

    I would imagine any graphic card other than AMD / Nvidia (a intel), has to be quite a recently new to support this level of graphic.

  • @AbuZamaan Huh, why does HTML5 sucks then? WebGL has an as low-level api (if not lower) as the Flash3D one got. Probably you mean the Flash VM runs faster than Javascript (but that is changing already)? But even then there is a major reason why WebGL is better: It's much easier to start with as a developer (it's open-source). Am I correct that you need to buy stuff from Adobe to create flash content?

  • @bayenne5b it's just me, I just hate html for one reason which is that I have to take into account every browser, while I am the type of developer that loves to jump into logic and math rather than wasting my time fixing technical problems that should not even exist, that's why I loved flash it's maintained by one party and it looks the same on every singe platform and browser.

    And I don't mind paying for the hard work of others while I make a lot more than what I've payed for thanks to them.

  • @AbuZamaan True! Actually that's almost exactly my opinion, about the dependence of each browser. My work-around was to develop conform with the w3c (so I use a browser like Firefox or Chrome ;) ) and also jump into logic, math and design. Then I say simply at the beginning of my website that the website is fully html and css validated and it SHOULD work on every browser, but of course that's not always the case (poor people with MS IExplorer ;) ).

    But they *say* things will change in HTML5.

    Nope you do not need to buy anything from Adobe to create what you see here. you can use the free Flex SDK and flash develop an open source IDE.

  • @zawette Not yet, at least on Linux I'll have to check it on Windows 7. But word is that support will be in the next Beta release of Chrome. You can possibly grab the FLASH 11 plugin out of Firefox's plugins and put it into Chrome's plugin folder. I tried it on Linux, but Chrome is still pulling up the 10.2 version! ..but wait and it'll get there. Also you should get in on all the Beta testing of games. Like "Idle Worship", it's really getting to be fun with the P2P online aspect on Facebook!

  • @zawette Install the flash 11 beta plugin, type "about:plugins" in your chrome adress bar and press enter. click on "details" on the right and then on "flash" in the list and deactivate the flash 10 plugin so chrome uses the flash 11 beta plugin.

  • I can't believe how fast this runs with very little CPU usage with the GPU pushing all the high calculation polygons and this is just the beginning of what 3D FLASH MoleHill will bring! ^_^

    btw.... Can't wait till this goes Live P2P. There's nothing like it anywhere. Closest is PS3's PSN HOME P2P that isn't even open. Nor do they actually get to share pics, results and convos like this will have!

  • @MrShadowz1337 Actually, if you read anything about that news you would have read they are "ditching flash" ONLY on the mobile browser. They are still supporting flash compiled to AIR for deployment across A LOT mobile devices (including iOs) and they are still supporting the desktop plugin for further development of molehill.

  • @saivert haha.... what do you think this is running on? OpenGL and D3D API's fool.... (not code, hardware interpretive libraries) inside Adobe's API wrapper. The hardware sees no difference. If you're just flapping your jaws w/o having run the the demo.... then just STFU! .....but then you prolly have CrApple hardware and expect that your iFad 2 will be able to run OpenGL or D3D native games with it's underclocked (800mhz) Samsung SoC! ....and idiot.... 1080p 60fps is NOT SLOW!

  • @zawette Read iFixit's Tear Down that says the SoC is Samsung. Apple has a $7.8Billion parts contract w/ Samsung, dumbass. The 512 LPDDR in iPad 2 is only made by Samsung, who just ramped up new 30nm process 1gig modules only using half the power & less than iPad 2's 512mb for full Multitasking w/ 10hrs 1080p video streamed via DLNA to your HDTV. You iFools can't claim Thin or Lightest Tablet PC nor best battery life any longer. Samsung just kicked your iCrAppletastic arse to the curb!

  • @zawette Sony NGP=SGX-543mp4 & iPad 2=SGX-543mp2 so aren't the same. Actually word on the street is Sony has delayed launch to put Imagination's 6 Series GPU's in, sampling end of this year. Which will make it more powerful than either the Xbox 360 GPU & the PS3's GPU! Don't expect iPad to ever compete w/ it. It'll also be sporting Samsung's new 30nm LPDDR 2 memory/ram w/ up to 4gigs in new 2gig modules! btw.. don't fight FLASH, get it on iOS so I can kick ur arse on Max Racer & Idle Worship! :P

  • Although the textures and mapping have received tons of attention to make this demo graphically appealing and fluid there are a lot less vertex than in other HTML 5 demos, Let's face it flash or html 5 is now a matter of preference. HTML 5 is a standard that plays nicely with everyone and is much more widely adopted by developers around the world from small to large companies. If you think the 3D Interactive TV coming out soon are going to rely on Flash rather than HTML5 you are wrong... FFT

  • @Lord5oth Hmmm that's only 1000 polys, not really a good test of pushing either to its limits... I'd like to see something running on webGL similar to this: thonbo.com/test/Stage3DSpeaker­/bin-release/Stage3DSpeaker.ht­ml which is about 90,000 polys..

    I'm not saying it's not possible, it's just that I've yet to see webGL being used to an extent where I've thought "Wow, it's basically like a PS2 game in a browser...", whereas in the 6 months or so that FP11 has been about, there are lots of demos

    i work with both technologies professionally, so my opinion is people are comparing "3d engines" (away , alternativa..etc) which are 3rd party tools to flash with webgl which is wrong we should be comparing similar implementation for a specific 3d engine on both platforms if we want accurate comparison

    but time will prove open technologies success

    Like I say, I'm open minded as to how I achieve the end results, so as long as everything that is currently possible with as3 is possible in html5 then right now the only real reason not to migrate currently is lack of widespread adpotion of html5 compatible browsers..

  • @Lord5oth Having a look at those demos now, the cubemap demo is very impressive.. Strangely though I couldn't get the webGL ones to work on my main laptop, a Dell with an ATI mobility radeon HD 545v, with a message that my graphics card was not supported by webGL... Oddly enough, my older macbook from 2009, with an nvidia GeForce 9400M runs them fine.. This strikes me as odd as the Dell runs FP11 demos at 60fps, whereas the mac struggles to maintain 10fps on the same demos...

Весь смысл в том, что скоро можно будет увидеть такой уровень графики в браузере на Флеш сайтах и интерактивных приложениях. Никто это игру выпускать не собирается. Коль вылезли из села, то научитесь читать по-английски.

Эта технология разщитана не на серьёзных игроков, а на основную массу пользователей, которые не имеют понятия о том, что такое DX10 или DX11, или вообще о внутренностях своего компа. Эта масса пользователей так-же составляет большинство игроков мира (хоть и играют они в примитивные игры, согласно с твоим представлением).

Флэш игры являются легким способом заработать $, так как Флэш доступен (стоит на 95-98% всех компов), и их очень легко разрабатывать. Усовершенствование возможностей Флэш-плеера пойдёт на пользу огромному количеству пользователей. Адобе наплевать на серьёзных игроков (1%) - им нужно удовлетворить средних пользователей (ост. 99%). Я из Киева, живу в штате Нью Йорк, играю на PS3, в EVE на PC, и игры на iPhone когда не дома.

  • @Chr1stmasCat со смехом вспоминаю 2002 год когда купил какую то гоночную игру был у меня еще 166 пентиум, было это давно и магазинов с дисками было мало)ехал около 1.5ч приехал я значит домой довольный с игрой и она у меня не пошла... но я точно помню на обертке игры были картинки похожие на этот ролик =))

    Если ты не в курсе то эта игра написана на флеше (Да 3д и флеш - это реально)

  • @andrejhr да но на самом деле железо сейчас нормально расчитана именно на такую графику. Должно быть ровно 60 кадров в ЛЮБОЙ игре, какая игра это сейчас потянет, ПРАВИЛЬНО - именно на уровне 2005 года. Кстати если она будет бесплатной, то я безусловно буду в нее играть, для платной нужно онлайн делать хороший, а это намного сложнее.

  • @RedSneik Эту игру никто не будет выпускать. Это даже не игра, а просто демонстратор новых возможностей Флэш плэера, показанный во время конференции Adobe MAX. Флэш сможет поддерживать видео карты, хотя платформа никогда не была на это изначально разчитана. Но как для графики в браузере на вэб страничке - вполне впечетляет.
