@borofalcon101 BAE built the Harrier. BAE worked on parts of the F-35. Rolls Royce built the Harrier's engine. Rolls Royce was part of the team that made the F-35's engine.

Not 100% true. The F35B makes VTOL in a different way from the Harrier. The Harrier has movable nozzles. The F-35B still vectores its thrust downwards like the harrier but it produces additional lift by the use of a Lift Fan (The bit that blew up) . This is driven by a shaft from the engine producing extra thrust . This is different from the harrier which can only uses the raw engine power.
