these passages are from page #17 of The Companions of Jehu written by Alexandre Dumas pere--"Sir, I have heard speak of the Companions of Jesus," replied the magistrate with his jeering smile. "The Jesuits, you mean? That is not what I am seeking, sir."....Elisha consecrated Jehu King of Israel, on condition that he exterminate the house of Ahab; Elisha was Louis XVIII; Jehu was Cadoudal; the house of Ahab, the Revolution.
Man, this track is so dope. It's got that happy shimmy to it and just dances all the way through. The melody is storytelling genius. I get dizzy from the interplay between the bass and the melody during the first minute. Jaco is butter!. And the ride out has that feel of something perilous could happen at any second. But the groove keeps us safe!
What a clever piece of Jazz, creeps in gently intro-on for just over a couple of minutes, then gradually, as it draws you in, the tune begins to open-up, maddening, addictive, and then it just builds, and builds, quickening ever so slightly. Zawinuls keys, wow, the last third just kicks-like-a-mule, all-in smooth Jazz attack. Faultless, Genius, Excellence, this brings back so many happy memories, and always 'brings-a-tear-to-the-eye'.Artistic Excellence' does this, what a track, fabulous posting
Thanks. By the way, if you would like to see other Weather Report tunes do a google search for something called "The Acid Jazz Channel". It's like MTV with jazz and stuff...
miss them :(
