  • Yeah, no. Search snopes.com for "hanging munchkin". It's false.

  • Comment removed

  • I can't see a gol-derrn-toonderin' t'ing.

  • You are off your rocker...you and your imagination !! We'rrrrrre OFF to see the wizard ...come on ...join in

  • Not even the right scene jackass.

  • There was a suicide on the set that day so you figure it out people!!!

  • the correct title should be "someone tell me wtf dat is"

  • Come on!

  • people who keep seeing a "suicide" in the Wizard of Oz all need glasses. This scene, for instance, has heads of some little people in the background. And as for the scene when the witch tries to set the scarecrow on fire, it is a big bird flapping its wing. GET GLASSES!

  • Ok where its just the scare crow, tinman, and dorothy. its a freaking emo bird last time I check munskins were short and pudgy not tall with a round body and a long neck, and of coarse a freaking beak. God why do ya'll try to destroy kid movies. this is bullshyt.

  • @SuperXxlunaxx A munchkin really did hang herself on set, I really don't know why, but I know the legend is true

    I have quite a few facts to back me up ;

    1) My uncle personally knew the Mayor of the Munchkin Land he even said it himself

    2) When my aunt and uncle went to see it in theater, they saw it for themselves

    3) I own both vhs and dvd versions of the Wizard Of Oz and in dvd version, they covered up the suicide with a bird, so there wouldn't be any problems

  • @XxTheCraziesxX troll

  • @XxTheCraziesxX You have an accurate SN

  • wtf did i just watch?

  • people really don't look into things. it's not a freaking hang munchkin?

  • tht thing is not a person being hung and i could tell u y cause..... in the song ding dong the witch is dead it says wake up u sleepy head and munchkins come out of the same place and the feet were purple and the fett in tht are purplr the munchkin is sitting on top of the birds nest and dangling its feet

  • baring in mind this movie was made 72 years ago, it was probably a munckin sitting on the house things

  • in a clearer version that is a person moving, nothing unusual here.

  • fail

  • If you make note of where this image is and further watch as Dorothy starts walking the yellow brick road, when the camera gets a full screen shot of the village, you can see it's a window with a woman munchkin leaning out the window in a blue dress.

  • Its not a munchkin! its a bird! gosh.

  • HWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

  • i dont think their is enough proof in this video. unfortunatly, all you know is a munchkin could be sitting on a house thinking "what will i eat for dinner tonight". it needs to be in better quality! however, in the old black and white vertion, you can see a ghost in the BIRD not munchkin scene. so was thier realy a death on the set?

  • man, these munchkins really have something against living...did anyone ever notice how dorothy's hair gets longer and shorter after every few shots? if you relly pay attention, you'll see it

  • haha so another munchin 'died'actually it sounds like every wants to have a cuicide in this movie so mutch! i mean this is totaly fake and the other real video was a bird!:O what do you people have against the lovely munchkins!?:P

  • Not even the right scene, idiots.

  • @hingedelephant actually this was also an urban legend too..just the other one was more popular

  • bad shot this sucks

  • A DWARF! WHAT! IT IS NOT A DWARF OR A MUNCHKIN! ITS AN ELEPHANT!

  • I meant the Tin man and Scarecrow in my last comment.

  • WRONG SCENE! The scene you meant to show is when she's on the yellow brick road with the Scarecrow shortly after he sings his song! And just to clear it up.. IT WAS A BIRD walking in the background the bird was an EMU!

  • The Munchkin suicide theory is popular amongst Republicans because they love believing LIES !

  • But then if you look at that window later in the scene, it appears that there is a flying monkey in it. So maybe a flying monkey killed a munchkin and took his place in the window.

  • @matt605

    Good Observation!

  • I like this version best. In other clips, the stork is clearly a stork, and the woman shifting from side to side can be seen bouncing her weight from one foot to the other, not swinging as if hanged. And this one is not so obvious that they would have cut it from the original.

  • Dude you are more than stupifd there is just a figure at the window.....

And either at the other scene the thing that everybody see as a hanged person is just a bird and totaly nothing more.BUSTED!!!!

  • This is commonly known to be just an urban legend and yes you didn't even post the correct scene!

  • So if it was a suicide who was it? Can you name the actor? Any newspaper accounts? The answer is no, because it never happened. Bet you believe in

badge man on the grassy knoll and roswell flying saucers too. Get a life.

  • Not munchkin legs, munchkin arms. Watch Judy Garland - Follow The Yellow Brick Road/You're Off To See The Wizard. It's a munchkin at the window of the house on an elevated part of the set. She's leaning out and that's her arms in that scene.

  • u all know that its dead person ok and its not a bird ok u jumpin to answers u make me sick :(

  • its not a suicide a wilde emu got lose on the set and it got in the shot

  • Fool that ain't the right scene in the movie ! Dumb asshole

  • Is it legs?

    YES

    Is it suicide?

    NO

the set was built with bits sticking out for them to walk on. the munchkin is just sitting on the ledge.

  • @xxLollipopxxTV WHY.....WHY.....IS EVERY MUNCHKIN HANGING? CAUSE THEY DONT WANT TO DO THE MOVIE!?!? AWW GREAT sorry anger out of my sytem

  • @Mattlol909 i know right!!

  • it was a bird i have proof! cuz when the tin man is dancing after being oiled... its in the background

  • i dont see nothing

  • This IS The RIGHT SCENE Tha other Scene is CLEARLY AH BIRD U can see other animals and tha yellow brick road scene also.!!!!!!!!!!1

  • wow hes probably sitting on a ledge

  • It was a boom mic that they did not notice

  • I have now seen 3 different scenes of the supposed suicide. The first one was clearly NOT a suicide, it was a bird. The second one was in the begining when the munchkins were singing, which looked pretty authentic. You could see her swinging, and something was going up from her neck. One of the girls next to her was pointed towards her, which kind of supported it. And now I have seen this one. It actually DOES look like it could be feet, but it if you look carefully, one of the "feet" detach....

  • What a bunch of bullshit..

  • "Don't worry about the dead hanging midget over your heads everyone! Just keep character, it should be out of camera shot."

  • well at least the munchkin didnt need much rope

  • stupid ppl get a life

  • Besides what other people already pointed out, the fact that before when they show the wide shot of the villiage and you saw munchkins sitting on the roofs they would still be sitting there when she sang the song, Moron.

  • FAIL

  • Or it could be a guy sitting on a roof of one of the houses with a mic or a camera to get a better view of the scene

  • What kind of a sick joke is this?

  • okay look people...ive commented this on many many many other "Wizard Of Oz Suicide" videos and you know what ive said?? WHY WOULD THEY HAVE A BIG FAT BIRD??? ITS A FRIGGIN COVER UP SO THE MAKER'S OF THE MOVIE WOULDNT HAVE A KILLING (SUICIDE) ON A CHILDRENS' MOVIE!!! bird my butt....

  • There were in fact several 'big fat birds' in the scene some people THINK is the 'suicide scene', just after the Wicked Witch appears on the roof of a house and throws a fireball at the scarecrow. The characters are in the woods and several large fowl were added to the scene as set decoration. The 'trees' are made out of wire and papier mache and couldn't hold the weight of any human body. There was no suicide on the set and certainly not one that was filmed and used as part of the movie!

  • THIS ISN'T THE SCENE WITH THE BIRD! I WANT TO SEE A DAMN BIRD! WHERE'S THIS FUCKING BIRD! FUCK IT ALL!

also everyone who has commented on this is a FAGGOT! Except me. That would be a bit silly, calling myself a fag. but i thought i'd better clear it up, so no-one thinks theyre being smart when they say, LOLOL YU CALLED SELF FAG!

    HURRR

    especially you @timtam20292

  • wrong scene!

  • research might save some face

  • wtf, not the right scene and the actual scene where a 'hanging' occurs is actually a bird spreading its fucking WINGS, FUCK people are so dumb....

  • Would help if you got the right scene for the supposed munchkin suicide. Also, anyone who is a fan on the film will also know it is a bird not a munchkin

  • There's more than one "supposed" hanging scene. Shut up about "liek omg this Isnt the right scene"

You people are thinking of the 'Crane scene' Either way: THERE WAS NO HANGING. God.

  • LOL holy shit you are so retarded. Not even the right scene.

  • can i just say that it isn't a bird either! its a munchkin in a house looking out of the window! x

  • How many stupid people are there in this world??

  • cock

  • your an idiot! not to be rude but its when the lollipop guild comes on but you have to zoom in wayyyy! in the back its awesome

  • Okay, I have something to say. Well, it is a bird, and if it even was a hanging dwarf, IT WOULD BE FAKE!!! IT'S A MOVIE!

  • Comment removed

  • "R" is for Retarded (and wRong scene). ovdje ljudi brzo!

  • Wow!! I just wasted 52 seconds of my life. The other 5 were used to type this message in.

  • The uploader just wanted attention, let's give it to him.

  • This shit is rediculus.

how long does it take you to find stupid pointless shadows in an old movie and then call it a suicide?

  • @amkerns23 it's not a shadow- it IS a munchkin but he's alive and standing at the window, but i can see why / how the poster could think it was a hanging munchkin- he's just inside the house looking out of the window! x

  • ones a bird ones a dying person. im deciding which is which right now. im researching it.

  • this one makes more sense than the other videos ive seen tho

  • What is with all these suicide videos of munchkins killing them selves on t.v.?

  • wizard of ounce suicide

  • that girl hung herself because she didn't get to play the lead for dorthy

  • @iiiiifamous1234 That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard!!!

  • @thewzrdofoz no im serious they didn't find the body a couple das later after they were done wit the movir

  • @iiiiifamous1234 I know you think you are serious, and you really do think you are right, but you DEFINATELY AREN'T. If anyone hung themselves they would have stopped production and figured everything out. The was never another choice for Dorothy besides Judy Garland, Shirley Temple wasn't even their first choice. YOU ARE WRONG. And for god's sake, take a grammar class!

  • @thewzrdofoz shut the fuck up you would hav known i seen the people who made the movie even said it so stfu and i dont want to type every single word

  • @iiiiifamous1234 HAHAHA!! You know repeating stfu over and over just makes it less effective. And the people who made the movie claimed the EXACT OPPOSITE from what you think. Actors and set workers said no one hung themselves. One munchkin did get routy, and I believe had a gun, but this was NEVER on set, and no one died. You're typing abilities are exactly what is wrong with children/teens these days. Re-read what you wrote, none of it makes sense! All I see is random words thrown together!

  • @thewzrdofoz well u know wat i see is a fucking dickhead that can't even understand everything and get a life bitch

  • @iiiiifamous1234 HAHA! I'm pretty sure that out of the two of us, I have WAY more of a life :D

YOU NEED TO GO TO SOME TYPING CLASSES... Obviously I can't understand you, you don't make sense half of the time!

  • @iiiiifamous1234 you need to lern how to read dumb ass

  • Couldn't it have been a Munchkin sitting on top of a thingie or something...?

  • ovdje ljudi brza sta cekate .... ot kud si ti?

  • Its a bird in the right scene... My friends uncle worked on set, and there were a bunch of emus all around... I dunno why, but there was :P

  • people have too much time on there hands /facepalm

  • That's one of the female munchkin's arms being shown as she is standing in a window... And like everyone else said, wrong (alleged) scene.

  • ummmmmmmmm. that could be them sittin on something or the bird!it kinda ticks me off that you dont check what u say before you publish it .

  • wrong scene retard and the only unfortunate part of the whole movie is that there isnt any true legend..it was a birrrd dannnng!!

  • Thats so stupid. Don't ruin a great film with this bullshit.

  • Seriously? That could be anything. How is this proof?

  • There was NO suicide on the set of "The Wizard of Oz," dick head!! But what do I know, I have only studied Judy Garland and her films for the past 39 years....

  • wooooooow these people r idiots and its just 2 munchkins standing with their heads side by side

  • wrong scene genius

  • Wrong scene asshole....

  • mmm all these munchkin suicide videos are makin me hungry

  • @MrPoaff me to

  • its not tha scene they call tha siucide scene, honostly, i think tha siucide(bird) scene is a cover 4 tha real scene that might be tha tru suicide scene

  • The youtube video is so blurry I can't make out what the heck it is supposed to be pointing to. But even if someone could somehow hang themselves in the middle of a crowded shoot like that and not be seen dooing it, they would have noticed right afterwards. And if they noticed right afterwards they would have known it was in that take. So they wouldn't have "unkowingly" edited it into the movie. And only a complete monster would use the take someone commited suicide on. Logic alone says fail.

  • @fbbsindistress actually back in those days it cost them so much to re shoot the scene that they wouldnt have done it so thats why people think its true and that the bird is a cover up

  • hahah what a tit :)

  • That's not even the so-called "suicide" scene!!

  • Its the wicked witch of the North!!!!!

  • @doxarieimai I'll tell you the whole story: That's not the witch, the witch floated away before this scene, right? The user is a crazy one, he/she thinks it'a suicide scene, but it wasn't, that was just another munchkin at the house set at the background looking at the scene when it was filmed. See it! I can prove it, When it was the time when Dorothy sings and follows the YBR, you see the full scenery of the whole set, and see a munchkin in the house set in the right... THAT'S IT!

  • ok this is not the scene good lord people, the real scene is when she arrives in oz, they thank her for killing the witch, and send her off on her way, look at the lady who seems to be swaying back and forth in one direction, and look abve her neck, yes her arms go behind her, but it happens so fast that it was more tahn likely a nerve spasm due to her broken neck, she doesnt move anymore other than the swaying, its like shes swinging, that is the real suicide scene.

  • This isn't the right scene, you fool!

  • @xxilanimebestxx WHAT IS THE RITE SCENE!? cause the one with the scare crow and the tin man that is a bird! i zoomed in and plus you can see the bird move its wings

  • @xxilanimebestxx tru but still is kinda like a munchkin hanging

  • oh hells bloody bells i am sleeping with the light on

  • If the human race wasn't made up of a bunch of fucking liars and people who believe any damn thing you wouldn't have all of these stupid urban myths. Come on people, try to act like you aren't this damn stupid.

  • alot of times, directors pull pranks 2 get the reactions they need.Gunshots-slapping-screaming-a phony hanging-firecrackers,the list goes on.then they become rumors.brandon lee & the gun w/blanks was unfortunate. If u had a room full of midgets, what would u do 2 get their attention all at once w/the same scared reaction?I'd hang a prop if I had 2.I'd throw it off the roof of a house or tree. The house seems more plausible.actors even pinch babies 2 get them 2 cry. That 1 really pisses me off!

  • STAGE HAND

  • Fer what I've seen, there are quite a few "suicide" sceans, and being a sucker for good scary things like that, I think SOME are true. Think what you wish.

  • @AOHSlenxanna there is only one, and i just commented on where you can find it.

  • @AOHSlenxanna i wud like 2 know where 2 find these lol, i love shyt like a suicide during tha making of a movie

  • @thafuknouz What do you mean where to find one?

  • u cant see any thing its too blurry

  • thats a munchkin sitting on one of the buildings. duh

  • But how the fuck can you tell? The footage is so blury! How do you know your not fucking yourself

  • I thought the hanging whatever scene was at the end in OZ....Or whatever.

  • yeah right..

  • Are you an idiot...

    HELLZ YES.

  • Not only is the "suicide" actually a bird, but this isn't even the right scene!

  • @Megaritz actually this is a suicide of a dwarf buutt there is also a bird in a different scene

  • @Megaritz And what logic do you have to go off of that. Why would there be a bird of that size in a closed set? On top of which, you can even see the rope if you look hard enough in the actual scene.

Seriously go back and look at the video zoomed in, you can actually see detail of the legs kicking up is the rope snaps.. in the right scene of course. Dont make it something its not just basing it entirely out of conjecture.

  • @4Xiox20 Thats not right. It was a bird. They had them in a closed set to make the land of OZ look more exotic!! DUH!!

  • @4Xiox20 If you look at close-ups of the OTHER scene (not this one), it is clearly a bird. You can SEE it, clearly. UNLESS, of course, that other one (again, NOT this one) was the real suicide scene, and they covered it up digitally with a fake bird. I cannot disprove that. To clarify, are you trying to say this scene is the suicide, or the other one?

  • @Megaritz ya they know that... they found a different scene where there could be another hanging

    .. smart one :S

  • @Megaritz actually before your gonna post a smart comment get your facts straight, the original scene and suicide were discontinued and they redid it and made the suicide part a bird..but i do agree this isn't the right scene and theres nothing wrong in it.

  • @zippy237 Can you (or anyone) provide links to two different versions of the other scene, that would clearly show one version features a bird and the other does not? That would settle the argument once and for all and prove it was changed.

  • @Megaritz no i cannot because first off they discontinued the suicide! didn't you see before? i told you no one would have ever seen it in the movies now or at least 30 years before because whenever they found the suicide scene they didn't put it out on dvd or cassette. so it wa only on tv for about 2 years before someone started noticing it and they changed it. i'm not saying your opinions wrong but im saying don't try to change what actually happened. sorry for your inconvience.

  • @zippy237 On what evidence, then, are you so certain it was EVER a suicide, if no copy of the actual scene exists now? Please enlighten me.

  • @zippy237 - Where's your proof that a suicide actually happened? Wikipedia, Snopes, The Wizard of Oz FAQ, various books and magazine articles ALL say it was false...do you have a source to back up your claim? Well?? Yeah, that's what I thought...

  • @zippy237 - How could they "make the suicide part a bird", considering the same bird is clearly visible a bit earlier, during If I Only Had a Heart? (Unless you subscribe to the absurd theory that they edited a bird into TWO separate scenes)

  • how can everyone be so thick..the forest scene OBVIOUSLY you can see the bird flap its wings how the fuck can you mistake it for a munchkin hangin itself..and obviously you cant hang yourself swing once then expect to be still, you keep swinging untill you stop.

  • WTFUCK THERE IS NO DWARFS MAYBE HUMAN MIDGETS..

HOW DO YOU KNOW ITS A DWARF WERE YOU THERE OR WHAT

    FUCKEN DUMBASS FUCKEN DUMBASSES.

  • @mesiiemags midgets ARE dwarfs!

    dumbass!

  • you are sofa king retarded

  • it looked like two heads peeking up over a ledge ya know they were munchkins they had to stand on thier tippy toes duh and the suicide scene happend in the forest not at the yellow brick road

  • BECAUSE IT CAN"T BE A MUNCHKIN SITTING ON A LEDGE DANGLING HIS FEET.

  • He's right!

those are two incredibly blurry shapes!

    THE MYTH IS TRUE

  • why the fuck would a munchkin's feet be upsode down?

  • Um.... what?

  • I do believe that the ghost in "Three Men And A Baby" is more convincing than this, and that is obviously a cardboard cutout left in the scene accidentally.

  • This is not true. No munchins died during the making of this film. They rented animals from a zoo. If anything, one of the birds got loose

  • IT IS A BIRD!!! I watch an interview from about it. It had the people from wizard of oz and the makers of it. They said it WAS a bird.

  • @WackycheyProductions thts whut they want u to think its rlly a flying elephant magic dwarf fairy duuuh

  • @afiblackbunnies OH I GET IT NOW!!!

  • hrm.. :/ its just a fucking bird.

    get used to backgrounds, kid.

  • kind of looked like to munchkins just in the background, looking over a wall or something. the "leg" on the right (viewer right) looks like a face with hair near the end to me.

  • here you can see the video of a retard.

  • B.S "Do you see this blurry image of nothing"

  • When they shot this scene, they needed birds to be flying around in the woods and that's all it is. A bird.

  • Only a complete moron would believe this.

  • you people are stupid -.- lmao if you look closely you could see the legs swinging back and forth and munchkins can't fly stupids....

  • why are all the munchkins so depressed

  • um... that was in a different part of the scene then where the bird was proven... and its a blur, how the hell can u tell if those are feet? do ur feet look like that?

  • its a bird. -____- watch "wizard of oz hanging REVEALED"

  • The actress who played Auntie Em, Clara Blandick, committed suicide 15 to 20 years after making this film.

  • @riversidefan2 why???

  • @Forevermoonlight13 By the 1960s Clara had been suffering from poor health for years, and retired from the screen in 1950. On Palm Sunday, April 15, 1962, Clara went to church in Hollywood, California. When she returned she wrote a note stating she was about to take the greatest adventure of her life. She took an overdose of sleeping tablets and pulled a plastic bag over her head, thus ending her life. She was 81 years old.

  • Omg its sitting on a ledge!!!!!

  • I think everyone should of been hanged in that gay ass movie

  • WHAT DOES 'HOMO' HAVE TO DO WITH THIS ?

    CUNT

  • OMG you have to be the LAMEST muthafucker EVER!
