  • AWESOME!!!!!

  • the quiet trumpets are those ones on the side, the loud trumpets are in the middle, there that was easy

  • The antiphonal Trompette en Chamade is definitely the loudest on the entire organ. It is meant to be heard over all 117 ranks of organ. I think it is called Trompette de Fete. I had a friend I was in college with that used to be senior organist there after Diane Bish left. The Trompette en Chamade ranks up front are more for use as part of the reed chorus but certainly do make a statement.

  • Outstanding work Mrs. Blish!!!

  • I absolutely love this arrangement of "A Mighty Fortress". I love how it shows the five sets of Trompette en Chamade and the many different colors of that magnificent instrument!

  • I am a sixty-nine year old organist. I have listened and viewed Ms. Bish's performances for years and appreciate her love which eminates from every fibre of her being. A dear friend of mine once told me that it takes a genius to create a monument......any dog can come and piss upon it. Bravo Diane Bish! You are a monument and inspiration to organists who truly appreciate your contribution to people everywhere! Bless you dear sister!

  • Such power and vigor this arr. has!

  • aaaahm.... yes. She has very good intentions ... but she should spend some years in Europe to learn how to play this instrument. Get well soon.

  • I like this organ better then the one she played Now Thank we All Our God. The reverb was bad. This one is nice. What an arrangement. Guess I am expanding my library. AGAIN

  • I think we should just focus on this lovely music that this woman is playing! Save the theological arguments for another place. I'm done with arguing. This is one of my favorite hymns, I wish we sang it in church. Go Lutherans!

  • I was at a organ concert and the organist played that tune of this song.

  • Diane Bish is great as I totally agree! The classical organ, real pipe or digital sampling, is not limited to just church music, but also contemporary modern worship music as I have played many great songs on the pipe organ and the Allen organ.

  • Coral Ridge truly has an amazing organ, but this piece would sound amazing on the organ at St. John The Divine with it's state trumpet.

  • That's what I'm talking about!

  • Diane is my favorite organist because of her amazing style of playing and her pedal movement what can i say....absoulutely brilliant as the English soccer commentators will say

  • @thedagonjones The "chosen"? So this God creates all that exists and chooses on race as "his favorite"? Hello. The bible was written by the Jews so it make sense that they would place themselves as the chosen. bottom line is they put their pants on the same way everybody else does.

I love the song and could not give a rats ass about the Jew. Kind of wonder why, no matter where they are in the world they have problems. Logically it does not make sense that the world is wrong and they are right.

  • @Dusty754 First, the Jews did not write the bible. Second, the Jewish people have most of their issues with their neighbors the Arabic countries. The reason for this is that both the Jews and the Arabs are 1/2 brothers to each other (lineage). They will never see eye to eye. Also, the Garden of Eden was not in Israel, but in present day Iraq. The Jews are the "chosen people of God", but their 1/2 brothers (the Arabs) are not. This was because of the sins of Abraham. Answers are in the bible

  • @biglinc1 First of all I have no interest in reading the bible. Something about the story of a world wide flood really makes it sound fishy. Given MT Everest is 29,000 feet and climber need supplimental oxygen and heat so this ark and its occupants could never survive at that altitude. Also organized religion causes more problems than it cures. Things like the crusades, with trials, spread of the plague, various inquisitions, executions for the crime of "hearsay" and the b/s of "chosen" people.

  • @Dusty754 Have you ever seen the surface of the ocean? There are mountains under the sea, the floor is not "flat" as one would consider a river or creek bottom... The earth was like an entire sea or ocean during the flood of Noah. Water can move and form mountains especially huge forces of water. As for "religion" that IS manmade. God is not "manmade", He was, is, and always will be. The term "Chosen People" does not mean that Jews are the "only" ones to receive God's blessings.

  • @biglinc1 So what is your point? Mt Everest is STILL at 29,000 feet above sea level. Take the lowest point in the ocean and Mt Everest ends up at an altitude of 64,869 feet. So you are trying to say that Everest was created in a few thousand years and not the millions it actually took? So this God does not even obey his own laws of physics??

  • @biglinc1 It was translated from Hebrew so who wrote it and don't hand me the crap that "god" wrote it. Also hard to believe the world wide flood since Everest is at 29,000 feet. Hard to exist at that altitude. Organized religion. Bringer of crusades, witch trials, assorted inquisitions, executions for the "crime" of "hearsay", the dark ages and each event justified by some writing found out of context in this bible. Jews are no more "chosen" than the Arabs of Christians or WASPS.

  • @Dusty754 There is only one way for one to receive eternal live - that is through the belief in Christ Jesus as your personal savior. "denomination" or "religious branding" have nothing to do with that - those are manmade... People can argue from now til the end of time - claim this, that, whatever.... Prior to the birth of Christ on earth, the Jews were known as the "Chosen People" as they were hand-picked people of God to do his work - and God would eventually send His son to be among them

  • @biglinc1 So the Buddhists, Sihks, Muslims and all other non Christian religions except for the Jews are doomed to eternal damnation? None of them believe in Christ. Again organized religion proving absolutely nothing other than a bunch of clowns showing their bible and saying that what is written in there is the absolute truth because it is writtin in that book. Not buying the B/S.

  • @Dusty754 yep... they're doomed to eternal damnation

  • @biglinc1 That is what you believe. Have fun in your bubble.

  • @JordanAP96 Of course it wasn't global but a lot of bible thumpers believe that. Back then the end of the local's world was at the horizon. Noah wouldn't need to fit every animal on the ark. Only a small percentage and after the flood let evolution take over.

  • @Dusty754 Please, I don't want to start an argument I don't want to be a part of. Let's just go back to talking about the wonderful music in this video and leave theological debates elsewhere. Please don't reply, I don't want more unrest in this comment section. I'm a Christian, it's true, so I'm not trying to disprove the Noah's Ark story, just clarifying what the Scriptures really say in their original language. Don't hate me.

  • @biglinc1 Oh one more thing. You have to believe what is written in the bible as fact in order to see any answers. Lots of nice stories, but not a lot of fact.

  • @Dusty754 The bible is ALL fact and no fiction... Hard heatedness, and arguments get nowhere.... I cannot change your viewpoint, no more than I can change the weather. The facts of the bible are true, and I can only pray that you find the right path in life before it ends... There is only 2 places at the end of this lifespan where you will spend eternity - that is everyone's choice. You can spend eternity in Heaven or Hell... the grave is NOT the end...

  • @biglinc1 Okay go thump your bible with someone else. The only "proof" you have regarding any story in this bible is BLIND FAITH. No hard evidence exists to prove a flood or any other tale.

  • @Dusty754 I would hate to have your non-belief because eternal damnation in Hell is NOT going to be a fun place....

  • @biglinc1 Well I guess that is your opinion. MY belief is mine and I am not going to explain my belief to any bible thumper. Organized religion is more problem than it is worth. Crusades, inquisitions, spread of the plague, witch hunts. Oh by the way I don't believe the yever found any witches in those trials. I mean the idea was if one was a witch and they were bound and tossed in water, they would save themselves. Haven't heard of any survivors.

  • Wow, what a fantastic arrangement played incredibly on a great organ. Wonderful! Wonderful!

  • @thedagonjones are you a jew?

  • @thedagonjones Nope. Not Really.

  • This is a wonderful, excellent interpretation and variation to this hymn. I admire your capabilities, honestly - this is outstanding. I play an older version (I guess pretty close to the original notes) on my accordion.

All of you are invited to listen to my old-fashioned accordion version with different speed and registration, just click my name and visit my channel.

  • What makes this vid really stand out is the use of picture in picture of the pedalboard action superimposed over playing on the manuals. Oh that we could have that on ALL organ videos.

  • very good !

  • What a special man Luther was. He looked the pope and the Catholic church square in the eye and never blinked.

  • @Festizzle Luther also has the blood of up to a million women on his hands. In his German Bible, he changed the verse in Exodus "Suffer not a poisoner to live" into "Suffer not a witch to live". Worse, he made "witch" exclusively female. This led directly to the "Burning Times" when up to a million women were horribly tortured and murdered "for the Lord's sake".

Luther had several heroic qualities - bravery, diligence, loyalty - but there was a dark side we should acknowledge.

  • @smb12321

You're right, I know exactly what you mean. Thank God we've all come a long way in realizing the truth in what really exists. Thanks for you're comment!

  • @smb12321 english translations also translated witch

  • excellent

  • Wow. That's quite the organ. Where is it?

    Aked

  • @ifuliki

    I spelled my name wrong!

  • @ifuliki This organ is in Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I have heard it live and it is really awesome.

  • Is she amazing or what? I started watching Diane when I was probably 10. That was 20 years ago. She is a fantastic musician, and a great inspiration to future organists.

  • This is indeed a wonderful recording of Martin Luther's "Battle hymn of the Reformation". Only JS Bach's cantata surpasses this in elegance and power.

  • @steffeni Which one? He wrote over one hundred.

  • This was my grandfather's favorite hymn and it was played at his funeral. It has so much sentimental value to me. Thanks for posting. :)

  • And i also like your toccata suite gothique with the 32' contra trombone ! all that power at your feet wow .

  • wow this sounds amazing ! do you have a 32' going aswel? or just a 16ft at the end chord ??

  • There's definitely some 32' stop(s) on the end.

  • ruffatti made a mistake. Trompeta Real is always supposed to be enclosed, not en chamade. tis okay though, but Trompeta Batalla would be the appropriate name for that en chamade rank

  • We are all of these videos you put up! Keep them coming!

  • They are all available on DVD from the Joy of Music website. These and many many more.

  • Do you have a clip of her playing the Organ at Notre Dame in Paris?

  • @bishfan The Ruffatti organ is a magnificent instrument! I heard on the Joy Of Music, that Diane designed it, or helped to design it. and Ruffatti built it.

  • Has she ever done any Spanish or Italian Baroque pieces?

  • Many. I have a Spanish piece played by her on a Spanish organ in Spain. See "Sonata De Clarines".

  • I have a "homemade" clip of Joy and Diane playing together. See "2002 Joy of Music Alaska Tour Part 2".

  • I am an ELCA from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (October 25), I played this as the opening hymn, since it is Reformation Sunday. It is #504 in Evangelical Worship. Just thought I'd share.

  • I have been playing organ for 3 years and I am not that bad and i'm just learning pedals and I hope to get very good and i'm currently playing for a small church

  • Uh, If you didn't want to hear this than why did you watch the video? And this wasn't written by Bach, it was written by Martin Luther.

  • @dwarrren9 Correct. Not composed by, used by ----> The tune has been used by numerous composers, including Johann Sebastian Bach, as the source material for his cantata Ein' feste Burg ist unser Gott, BWV 80.

  • Your Welcome

  • I think you mean the sheet music. You can get that when you click more info under were it says bishfan then follow the link!!

  • Can you explain score more?

  • I love this arrangement!! I finaly got her organ book with this song in it. Can't wait til I can play It like her!!

  • Just Beautiful! I wasn't aware that Diane Bish left Coral Ridge. Someone has a job filling her shoes. I watch the Joy of Music and seem to see a lot of repeats. At least now I know if we don't get satellite much longer I can find her on UTube. Thanks for sharing your gift.

  • I did a google search on Diane Bish, it says she now lives in Bloomington, IN. When did she leave Coral Ridge Church?

  • I don't remember the exact date, but it was some time in the late 90's. She left because she wanted to focus all of her energy on the Joy of Music.

  • I'd love to have the sheet music of that arrangement. Could anyone please tell me how to buy a copy? Thanks.

  • Check the top right corner of this window under "More Info" Click on the link and it will take you to the site where you can purchase the score to this and many other pieces of music.

  • great arrangement. i love starting at 230 those little trumpet sections you can tell that her key depressions and releases are absolutely perfect. thats actually not easy takes a lot of practice

  • Bishfan,

On behalf of the American Guild of Organists, Thanks again for this Post. You never cease to amaze me.

    YoungOrganist,

    Too many Trompettes? Absolutely Not.

I too am a young organist, 29 to be exact, a son to a Former National Councillor and National President and am a Current Regional Councillor. This hymn, which I can remember attending; in LIVE concert on Official AGO Business, is an arrangement that she wrote. This is her way of playing this hymn. Awesome!!

  • This is my favorite of her arrangements!

  • My absolute favorite Bish arrangement! The Trompette's sound is just awe-inspiring! Excellent!
