  • I don't like Chrome since it does not have any of the add-on I need. To many kill pages. Firefox I will stay with forever. But in the end it's really up to each person. :)

  • ALL HAIL CHROME!!! ALL HAIL CHROME!!!

  • @Palillos1337 Don't blame the browser, blame your terrible Internet connection

  • Mozilla, nuff said

  • chrome is not that great guys, calm down. the truth is all browsers suck dick, its just chrome sucks the least.

i love the constant crashing and page killing on google chrome. it's sooo good.

  • I can't stand it either. Though once I think about it there has never been a really good browsing software.

  • Chrome is for hi speed.. netscape is for dail up.. Get Chrome

  • opera is best. nothing more to be said.

  • I love Google Chrome!!!! But Netscape was my first so I will always have a special place in my hart for Netscape<3

  • That book is as big as Marks belly

  • How I love those software boxes...

  • 'What browser is the best for you?"

    CHROME :P

  • netscape has a very nice gui, many followed as example

  • That was very good. Quite ahead of the time.

  • old pc

  • "We dont havea a lot of time to do all of those.." - crabby in his old age eh?

very cool .. I remember downloading this for linux over dialup .. took about 25-35 minutes on 33.6k dialup... and it was 11MB if I remember - about the size of the cache for 3-4 websites of today.

  • everyone he interviews is fat and wears glasses...

  • @stiqman why... terrible archetype for bay area nerds huh?

  • Netscape Fun Times and Crashes

  • a book that fuckin thick for a browser?

  • google "old apps", you can download every single version of netscape ever made...

  • 0:49 The fat guy has a copy of the book in his back pocket!! LMAO!

  • A great piece of internet history...

  • lol, soooooooo old school.

  • I remember using Netscape in 1995......not bad.....but Internet Explorer quickly replaced it because it was faster

  • @VoidKeeper not totally. Netscape was part of the Mozilla Corp. Who helped build Netscape then evolved into firefox. After a while Mozilla just abandoned Netscape and moved on. Netscape is not entirely dead.

  • they tried to fit too much shit onto a browser

  • I miss this browser =(. Used this all the time as a kid on my dad's Windows 9X OS

  • Javascript and Dynamic HTML running that fast on a computer from 1999?

    BULLSHIT.

  • Jackass.

  • i remember using netscape, man those were the days

  • DAMN YOU INTERNET EXPLORER! you're useless and still you managed to destroy netscape =(

  • Ahhh the days of Browser Wars I. Before Google ad clicks took over the Web, those days were a pleasure to surf. A lot of people were experimenting with web design and the internet community was, ahem, nicer. Back then, business was still trying to figure out how to make money from the internet. Markets have a way of solving problems and they came up with javascript, actionscript, cookies and so forth.

  • wow the internet pages looked kinda bland back then:P lol

  • i'm using netscape right now. but now it's called firefox

  • wtf I have never seen book made from browser :/ Why can't the instructions be in the browser itself..?

  • Microsoft killed netscape.....

  • I miss Netscape Navigator 2.0 ;(

  • I can't wait til netscape 4 comes out

  • can someone see the URL? im not convinced yet bis this man and his book!!

  • that dude looks like hes eaten a few of those books!

  • Hey I paid $30 for my browser. I want my money back......

  • That was a great piece of software, now living inside firefox. I remember how useful was the built-in email app.

  • That fucktard host doesn't even understand what a browser is!

  • Best Browser Ever ! i use Netscape 9 and i love it

  • @MrReflex100 me too! please comeback Netscape :/

  • those were the days

  • LOOL!! big fat book....

  • @DeathNotice87 heh yeah, I thought "woah its a web browser man not a bloody operating system"...

  • I laugh, then I cry because this is so so sad. Even for the time period it's sad.

  • i remember netscape was a beast! too bad they couldn't beat out the free internet explorer and its marketing

  • Netscape didn't have an operating system like Microsoft in which to pre-load Netscape for the entire world. Otherwise we might today be using "Netscape Communicator 2010".

But Netscape's code was reborn as Firefox.

  • I remember using this as a 24 year old in 1995. Netscape was the Google of its era. It was the cool thing to use (actually, the only reliable browser).

I went to Netscape seminars in Silicon Valley and they were like gods. Now they are like a broken old statue standing in the ruins in the Egyptian desert.

GOOD MEMORIES! This was when the Web was exciting and new!

  • om nom nom

    Netscape = Mozilla (srsly)

  • I went from Explorer to Chrome a year ago.. and I'm just happy...

  • yee yo google chrome is the best browser period its just perfect

  • @thakidmotive I thought that up until 2 months ago then chrome got buggy

  • @thakidmotive never mind it collects all your browsing and search data to resell to the highest bidder

  • @maiki60fps Sad Google is stubbornly and inexplicably ignorant enough to think they can get away with a browser without giving the user a dropdown history in the URL window. Deal breaker. I'd like to use Chrome. I'm an android guy and I like the speed of Chrome but it's almost as if they are defiantly denying something so basic, so essential as a quick link to the browsing history via the drop down. Sorry Google. Ya fugged up. Firefox for me until you wake the fuck up

  • what year is that from??

    94, 95 or 96??

never tried netscape, but its child firefox works quite well.

  • @StrapOnDildoSexRulez 1997 ....nice name ;)

  • firefox owns!

  • im using Netscape navigator 9

  • That's a bad idea, they stopped supporting it and you're not getting security updates. Just move to Firefox, which was Netscape's successor.

  • now im using chrome

  • actually the first gui interface for the web was called THE WORLD WIDE WEB!

  • Netscape was better than Explorer in 1994. But now FireFox is the successor of Netscape, its a good chalenger for Microsoft. No competition is very bad for development!

  • I loved Netscape

  • I'm using firefox!

  • I pretty much miss having netscape around, but a few firefox themes more then takes care of that.

  • The computer that they demonstarate netscape on is the same model that Steve Jobs pwns in the first imac introduction.

  • Hahaha I Bet they can't go to google. :P

  • Back then it used to be so fancy... :-P

  • he has a big fat book on how to use a web browser! OMG!

  • Yeah those were the times...

  • @MichaelJacob02 you do realize that there are actually a lot of people in the world that have no idea what the difference is between a web browser and a search engine... right? for example lets not forget when Read Write Web posted "Facebook Wants to Be Your One True Login" and suddenly no one could find "the old facebook".... like seriously?

with that being said i think the book could be a little bigger... people are idiots!

  • @MichaelJacob02 I would assume that it has HTML coding in the book as well as It is indeed a too large of book for a web browser.

  • For those missing Netscape, The Mozilla team ( of Firefox ) have Seamonkey, which I think is similar. They even say that, they try to recreate the Netscape feel in creating it.

  • we must sign a pettiton to get netscape back

  • @manic242 yes!

  • @manic242 Isn't Firefox sort of ... the spiritual descendant of Netscape?

  • @aidanday Yes it is.

  • @manic242 a petition won't do shit. it's up to the developer.

  • @manic242 i will sign now!

  • @manic242 its called fire fox

  • @manic242

i kind of feel firefox is the netscape of today

  • @manic242 There is still Netscape.

  • @HeyItsASquirrel "AOL formally stopped development of Netscape Navigator on December 28, 2007, but continued supporting the web browser with security updates until March 1, 2008, when AOL canceled technical support."

    ~Wikipedia

  • @Gameboygenius Pffft... Wikipedia, anyways, I meant you can still install it...

  • @manic242

    Use Firefox...

  • @manic242 we already have netscape back. It's called Mozilla Firefox

  • Interestingly enough, Netscape is still in business even though their browsers aren't used as much anymore. Like most people I used the Navigator and the Communicator.

  • AOL Owns them -=I

  • Why? Netscape came out before Internet Explorer.AOL had to kill it.
