The death of the animal is only secondary to them it's the fur they want. If the animal (in this case the fox) after the blows is rendered unconscious and doesn't respond to pain, why would the worker make sure it was dead? To me it looks like he was confident that the blows rendered the fox immobile and during the fur removing session it woke up. Is that an impossible scenario?
@securitylover Imp[ossible to turn any reasonable profit. They dont want the fur, they want to profit. Make money. Slaughtering in this fashion is too slow, too cumbersome, any wastes all the meat (they eat dogs, that is proven far more liekly than selling the fur). It just doesn't add up.

Manpower in China is cheap, even cheaper if you hire day laborers. Even if a clean cut would speed up things, it's not far-fetched to believe the person(s) in charge simply told the workers to hit/bludgeon/kill the animal but don't ruin the fur. We all think our way's the best.

We don't know if the guy was a day laborer (it looks like he's wearing regular clothes) but if he was, he was taught how to remove the fur from an animal and it probably took 2-3 animals before he got the hang of it. So what you envision is; hit the animal's head, drown it and remove the fur? Maybe some factories use water, or rat poison, but my point is; we really don't have any evidence that this clip is staged.

To them it doesn't make sense to use bolt guns. Holding a dog under the water; doable if you have 10 dogs but hundreds of dogs /day will exhaust the crew. And rat poison, abrasive chemicals, also too cumbersome if you think about it. Takes time, means you have to give the dogs food, wait til the poison kills.

That dog is skinned alive. It is called a raccoon dog. They have similar markings of a raccoon, but are a type of dog. They are (I believe) the only dog that still hibernates. And all of those animals are skinned alive. Including domestic dogs and cats, which are imported to the US and Canada and often labeled as faux. If you can't be sure the fur is faux, don't buy it. And China is the largest exporter of fur, so just stay away from all fur. There is no humane furring, but this takes the cake.

Fur bearing animals do not get skinned alive. The ONE video clip (7 years old now) of the ONE raccoon dog getting skinned alive was pretty much proven to be staged by the animal rights group the SAP.
Also, most of the world’s farmed fur is produced by European farmers - google it.

And cattle guns - don't need to stretch your imagination much to realize these people want to cut the corners as much as possible. A hammer or steel pipe will have to do. And while it may be possible that many animals actually die when they receive multiple blows to their heads, it's also obvious many don't.

The death of the animal is only secondary to them it's the fur they want. If the animal (in this case the fox) after the blows is rendered unconscious and doesn't respond to pain, why would the worker make sure it was dead? To me it looks like he was confident that the blows rendered the fox immobile and during the fur removing session it woke up. Is that an impossible scenario?

@securitylover Imp[ossible to turn any reasonable profit. They dont want the fur, they want to profit. Make money. Slaughtering in this fashion is too slow, too cumbersome, any wastes all the meat (they eat dogs, that is proven far more liekly than selling the fur). It just doesn't add up.
If the fur market for dog was so big as PETA says it is, why isn't there a factory yet? They have aparently been doing this for hundreds of year... still no factory? China manufactures iPads for christs sake.

Manpower in China is cheap, even cheaper if you hire day laborers. Even if a clean cut would speed up things, it's not far-fetched to believe the person(s) in charge simply told the workers to hit/bludgeon/kill the animal but don't ruin the fur. We all think our way's the best.

We don't know if the guy was a day laborer (it looks like he's wearing regular clothes) but if he was, he was taught how to remove the fur from an animal and it probably took 2-3 animals before he got the hang of it. So what you envision is; hit the animal's head, drown it and remove the fur? Maybe some factories use water, or rat poison, but my point is; we really don't have any evidence that this clip is staged.

They don't label it as dog fur, nobody would by fur from dogs especially for the items they want to export. They label it Mountain Wolf, Sobaki, Gae-wolf etc. Even faux fur. Dog and cat fur are usually used in trimming details such as hoods. boots and so on It's also used in pet toys.

@ff8123 We can only speculate why the workers choose to work the way they do, but I wouldn't simply dismiss it as a staged clip because the content doesn't make any sense to _us_. To them it doesn't make sense to use bolt guns. Holding a dog under the water; doable if you have 10 dogs but hundreds of dogs /day will exhaust the crew. And rat poison, abrasive chemicals, also too cumbersome if you think about it. Takes time, means you have to give the dogs food, wait til the poison kills.

That dog is skinned alive. It is called a raccoon dog. They have similar markings of a raccoon, but are a type of dog. They are (I believe) the only dog that still hibernates. And all of those animals are skinned alive. Including domestic dogs and cats, which are imported to the US and Canada and often labeled as faux. If you can't be sure the fur is faux, don't buy it. And China is the largest exporter of fur, so just stay away from all fur. There is no humane furring, but this takes the cake.

Even in the poorest of nations there is a humane and and inhumane way of killing what one must eat. It strongly appears as though most of their pleasure comes from the horrific manner in which they skin the animal while it is alive, or the sense of extreme power that comes from watching and feeling the last breath from the dying animal. It's cruelty in its purest form!
Does anyone inspect these animals for diseases before they are eaten? !
