I think this is an opinion, not a proven fact, and our field experience is all the contrary: the programmers do not understand the model, and the architects say that this way of modeling breaks all the good practices in modeling information models.

OK, it's not The Dark Knight, but it's really pretty interesting if you are going to build a clinical trials database. I found it very helpful.
