  • totally awesome! do you have the tabs ??? :)

  • This is my favorite SRV song! I just uploaded a phenomenal cover of the great el Mocambo version. Check it out!!!

  • Ha, Must be a pain to tune that... just sayin'.

  • that was fucking awesome, thats so much harder than people realize

  • Awesome !

  • This is very nice! Where is the tab for this song? It seems it's nowhere online. Can you pleeeeez send me the tab?

  • First of all very nicely done.

Second of all i see u like to wrap ur thumb around while playing as did stevie. i do too and have relatively big hands but cant seem to do so on my own 12 string ( which is quite cheap). so ultimately im wondering what the necks are like on ur guild??

  • wow kudos man. how long did it take u to learn that song?

  • aside from writing something about how good your playing is i would just like to point out that you have a very sexy guild 12 string my man, keep her safe

  • amazing!!!!!

    what key/scale are you using??

    thanks!

  • @timduff08

Hey! I believe I was tuned down two or three steps. I usually tune this twelve string to D or C# as I I've heard using 0.012 gauge strings on a 12-string tuned to E could warp the neck (not sure if it would, but not sure I want to find out :-)

  • damn my friend - you have done it! I remember watching that show back in 1990 and being torn between practicing more or burning my guitars and quitting..... i did the former, but never tried this because its so intimidating - but u did it - fine job and keep it up - u should be proud of urself! !!!!

  • coud you attept to tab this for me? i know it would be a mission so if you cant be bothered dont worry, friggen amazing by the way :)

  • dude this is amazing can u please send me the tabs

  • thats great man!!!!!!!fffffff

    sounds exactly like srv

  • reeeally fine !

  • certainly not bad, it actually sounds great!

  • did you say ur tuned to C#? I've pickup up most the song, but I think some of my rhythm sections are a bit off. It would immensely helpful if you posted even the same video but in slower tempo. its such a quick song its hard to pick up the nuances.

Great vid btw. not only fun to watch but much more helpful than the original vid to those trying to learn it. the other one has too many camera angles.

  • which chord do you use @ 0 : 10 min ..10- 15 seconds...

    can you plz tell..

  • @backdoorman29

If I'm looking at the right chord, I play at the 7th fret on the low E string almost continuously while playing at the 9th fret on the D string, then at the 7th fret on the same string, then back to 9th string. Then I slide from 6th on the D-string and 7th on the G string to 7th and 8th on the same respective strings. Remember, the low E string is played the whole time (you might hear it as the base note in the video). I'm not sure this make sense......

  • @osingiusa

    thx man..cheers..:D..

  • @backdoorman29 It's an E7#9. ("Hendrix Chord")

  • Guild makes some kickass 12-strings. Good job on this man!

  • cool

  • Very well played! I always say never try to copy, just get influenced, but that whas a darn good effort! You're skillful.

  • great 5 stars! :)

  • how different to play is the 12 vs 6?

  • not very.......

  • I thought it was a very good rendition! Bravo!

  • love how u got srv's 12 string he used man and it sounds good man

  • nice guitar, wish it were mine =)

  • good job man

  • thats damn good man. i mean shit, sittin around with some friends drinkin some cold ones, you bust that out man your friends will be impressed. i have the srv unplugged trio video and you did really well.

  • HORRIBLE

  • Comment removed

  • Man I can't believe you bought the 512, that's just big pimpin :D.. Nice to see there are other appreciators of SRV out there..

  • He still has a big following.

  • That was bad ASS MAN!

  • yeah man!!!!!!!!!!

  • That MTV unplugged version of "Testify" is one of my favorite SRV performances ever. Hardly anyone else played the acoustic guitar like Stevie... but you did it really good. :) Great job! 5*

  • Awesome!

Very hard thing to play even on electric. Maybe up the tuning to E flat?

  • amazing! can you tab it?

  • Nice one ;) Now give some claw to it to sound more Steve-like. Great !

  • AWESOME!

  • OMFG YOU'RE AMAZING!

  • AWESOME

  • how the hell do you tune a 12-stringer?

  • it is a long and painful process

but not so har actually first you tune all the normal string like you normally would then you tune those samall strings to the same but on octave higher

  • see these little thingies on top of the neck ? you can turn them till the strings are in tune :P

  • this is a good job m8

  • Simply Amazing!!

I think you can drop the "attempt" :)

  • incredible!

That's just sooo damn good man!

  • awesome playing

  • Dude, that's sick! How old are you?

  • man, you should upload a how to play justify video, i'de watch it ;)

  • DUDE!!!!!!

    That was fucking brilliant!

to say you just blew me away would be an understatement, keep up the good work!

  • AMAZING!

    Man your the bomb

Whered you find the tabs for this?

  • Jesus! A 12 string guitar is very diffcult to play. Incredible that you can play that fast and flawless on a 12 string. Respect...

  • That's a damn good "atempt!" Good job brotherman.

  • Thats brilliant man! Bravo!

  • haha i love how the you're fingers are moving faster than 28fps

  • nice job. it's like trying to repaint the Sistine Chapel or rebuild the lost city of Atlantis.

  • I can play better than that...NOT! Very nice, thanks for sharing the video.

  • hey man, yea the out of sync stuff is just youtube..happens all the time

well done man, very well done, stevie is the reason i play guitar, i know his stuff well, so very well done.

  • good guitar playing!

  • awesome, that looks like so much fun

  • nice man

  • great man. I don't think you call it an attempt thou. it's great!!!!

  • Nevermind...i read it on an older post. Great job though. I guess i'll continue with listening to it then probably tab it since I can't find it.

  • Did you use a tab? if so can you tell me where you got it. Or did you figure it out by listening to is repeatedly? I'm kinda tired of doing that. I'm basically looking for the lazy way out.

  • Nice!! And nice guitar too. Let me guess, you bought the Guild after seeing SRV play one?? hehe Sweet sound

  • hate to put a dampener on the tone of the comments but lets be realistic he has some srv licks down but it lacks the conviction and accuracy big time, but still nice effort, just wanted a bit of balance to the over enthusiastic remarks

  • yea, we're so glad you left a negative comment, what would this video be without it...good job putting him in his place

    *sarcasm*

  • agreed. he aint SRV, but who is, right?

    better than i can do...

  • nice man :)

  • That really is quite impressive. Just one comment and no, its not about the playing.....Your legs, you seem to have no hairs on them, not that Im a perv but this to me would indicate that your about 12! Please tell me your not cos if you are Im quitting the guitar right now!

  • That is one of the funnier comments I've read in quite some time! No need for you to quit playing - I am a lot older than 12 and have pretty hairy legs (low res camera + light leg hair = humorous comments from viewers and a guarantee that next time I'll wear pants)

  • dude thats more than an attempt

  • obviously nobody can do it like srv, but dude you come closer than anyone else would. awesome!!

  • wow..that was good...keep on playin

  • man, you are the sh*t.

keep it up and post more.

  • Absolutely fantastic! I wish I could play my 12 string half as good as that!

  • Beautiful guitar and playing.

  • thats f-ing awesome mate, keep it up. did you work it out yourself or grab a tab somewhere?

  • Wow dude.. i clicked on this video expecting something much different.. That was impressive.. Im not a fan of 99% of SRV coveres hes too unique but that was a 10/10.

  • man, can't find words to express how fcking IMPRESSIVE that was!!!

    SERIOUSLY!!!

    cold greets from sweden!

  • impressive

  • that must work your fingures to death, plyin a 12 string like that! What guage string do you use? Sounds great.

  • .012 gauge, but tuned downto C#, so quite low

  • @osingiusa this is awesome can u please send me the tabs 2 this

  • well done man ..you nailed it. nice sounding guitar too

  • well you got the right guitar man! sounds good

  • Great Job at a VERY difficult piece. Kudos!

  • man i felt in love with your 12 guitar... try listening something of the Tres Cubano

  • Great Job...Did you tab it yourself or do you know someplace on the internet where one can get tabs for this song?

  • Thanks! I learned it by listening to it, but I used a Boss RC20XL looper to slow down the fastest parts (in pitch) as I could not tell exactly what he was playing at normal speed. I am not sure if anyone ever posted tabs for the unplugged version.

  • Wow that was amazing. As a fellow guitar player i have to say that was most impressive. Nice job!

  • great playing..I learned the electric version, but this seems harder! What kind of guitar are you using?

  • Thanks! It's a Guild F-412 Blonde 12 string. It has a beautiful arched laminated back and sides in maple which aren't visible in the video.

  • man i want to learn that so bad but i cant find tabs anywhere

  • OMG... must have taken you days before getting this close to master Testify the way Stevie delivered it at MTV Unplugged...

  • Great stuff. Put up some originals, man! You're a good player, but covers can only go so far from the original.

  • nice work...

  • very very VERY impressive! Nice work! Even more impressive that you figured it out by ear. You da man.

  • Can you send me the tab for this? or at least tell me where you got it? or was it by ear?

  • Unfortunately, I don't have a tab for this - I learned it by ear (I had to slow down the two really fast parts, though!)

  • sick. great job brotha. how friggin low is that tuned?

  • I usually keep this guitar at C# or D with 12 gauge strings mainly as it is easier for me to sing (not that I sing well :-) As I mentioned in an earlier reply, SRV had his tuned at Eb, but I don't know what gauge strings he used....I would ot be surprised if they were quite heavy (to whatever extent a 12 string guitar can candle heavy gauge strings).

  • Thanks for the kind words! I usually keep this guitar (Guild F412 Blonde) tuned to C#, although I might have been somewhere between C# and D on this video. The main reason for this is that my voice works better when tuned this low.

  • I currently use D'Addario EJ39 0.012 gauge strings, which gives me roughly the same tension as the 0.010 gauge strings that came with the guitar when tuned to E. I know SRV had his guitar tuned to Eb, but I have no idea what size strings he used. Probably something ridiculous :-) I have heard, though, that 12 string guitars should not be strung with really heavy gauge strings when tuned normally in E as the tension can ruin the neck. Not sure if it is true, though.

  • sounds good...do you have it tuned down to D? it sounds lower than it does on the unplugged

  • very cool!!

  • Dude, all I can say is change the word 'attempt' in the description to 'rendition' or 'cover', becuz 'attempt' imlpies possible failure. U nailed it! Great job! And, that's a nice guitar! Just like Stevie's! I have a 12-string guild, too, but it's with the normal size dreadnought body.
