This movie was alright, but they could have done a better job with the acting. Here is my cast: Jim Carrey as Steven Rimbour, Rainn WIlson as Emery, Emery's mother as herself, Creed Bratton as Vic,Jenna Fischer as Dr Joyce Reardon, Paul Lieberstein as Nick, James Spader as The head of the psychology department,BJ Novak as Bollinger,Brian Baumgartner as anne Wheaton only we change her name to andrew, and finally Steve Carell as sister or brother. 99% of this cast is from the office lol
This movie is...well not very good, plot development is slow, most of the characters are boring and do a lot of dumb things. Plus you are left with several questions that did not get answered, most notably. When the house "takes" people, how exactly does it do that? You are just told it eats people, yeah very useful info geniuses. This movie is not scary, its obnoxious. The only reason I would get nightmares from this is the trauma of watching a crappy movie like this.

I really love the story of rose red. Too bad they broke the house in the end. They couldn't have made a sequel. But the dairy of Ellen rimbauer is great too. I just love this house! Really need to buy this dvd and watch it on my own late at night, with no lights on! Haha
I had the DVD on me, and i look inside and there are 2 discs. I'm like hmm...why 2 discs. So i read the scene index, and it seems that the movie continues on disc 2. Then i look at the back of the DVD to see how long this film goes for...and then i see 245 MIN!! FUCK! 4 hours and 5 minutes. Maybe another day lol

This story is lifted from The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson, and the rocks falling from the sky on the house scene is a direct rip-off of that. Don't believe me? He wrote the introduction to one of the newer editions of that book. He's a horrible writer. Can't come up with an original idea to save his life.

I never get scared when i watch scary movies but THIS MOVIE scared the crap out of me. I was scared of mirrors and wouldnt turn off lights...it bothered me for along time. I watched the Exorcist when i was 9 years old on Halloween night and didnt get scared at all but this movie made me wanna sleep in my mom's room...
the part that scared me the most was when the guy with glasses was wrapped up in the carpet and had duck tape on his mouth and was dragged away by that ghost chick

It's strange...I saw so many horror films, but no other film was only almost as scary as R.R...This really is the scariest movie I have ever seen...in germany the certificate says that u are allowed to watch this movie if you are 12...I saw it when I was 15 the 1st time...and it scared the hell out of me!! I think it's a scary movie but a good one with history. I for once like haunted house movies with i little bit of history. I can say it is one of my favourite movies but in Portugal i can find the DVD anywhere.

This was the scariest movie when I first saw it. I was like 10. Had to sleep with the hallway light on cuz my parnets wouldn't let me sleep with my light on. Its now my favorite scary movie of all time.

I think it's a scary movie but a good one with history. I for once like haunted house movies with i little bit of history. I can say it is one of my favourite movies but in Portugal i can find the DVD anywhere.

This is one of my all time favorites.
The documentary style story telling in the beginning makes you believe it's real and that the house really exists..
I saw it so many times and everytime again I get sucked into the story and the absolute amazingness of the house, the veranda, the garden,..
It really really works.

I own this movie on DVD and it still scares me. its like he took Frankinstien and reworked to something hidious and scarey and yet somehow you want to watch more and wish that you were with them to experiance it along side them....nut hoping that you live at then end.
