Obviously if you become physically dependent on something your going to think you're addicted. Ive smoked Marijuana for almost a year straight, haven't smoked all day and I'm not freaking out for any bud. I can go for weeks without smoking, but Im not going to with how shitty our country is today. And Ive never felt bad after smoking cannabis like this lady claims. She let her imagination get the best of her.
The reason you think it's addictive is because the word "addiction" has been watered down to mean whatever you want it to mean. People are "addicted" to porn, video games, food, etc. nowadays.
But ask an opiate addict what withdrawal is. Opiate addicts can die from their withdrawals. Ask an alcoholic, who can also die from withdrawals, what addiction is.
Your insomnia and lack of appetite might make you think it's a withdrawal because it's unpleasant. But actually it's nothing.
@afterapplepicking insomnia and lack of appetite are withdrawals because they are a direct result of stopping the supply of weed to the brain. They are unpleasant
I've been smoking weed for 30+ years weed is addictive and stopping is like giving up breathing air so stop while your ahead i' m going on 5 days and it has not be easy believe me it's not kool...
I've been smoking everday since I was 17. I'm 22 now and when I tried to quit I got very depressed, paranoid, I had diarrhea for a week, and completely lost my appetite for a while. I didn't believe that MJ was addictive until I LIVED through the withdrawals.
Marijuana is definitely physically addictive. When I tried to stop, it was just like stopping tobacco. I didn't believe it at first, but after the 5th time trying to quit weed, I realized 'these are classic withdraw symptoms. Punishing insomnia, mind ripping anxiety, black suicidal depression, and not eating for 4 or 5 days. Totally exhausted too. Finally got tired of the hellish withdraw process and quit for good. It was absolute hell.
alot of people commenting havent have f***ing clue what they are talking abt this woman makes so much sense - if u dont understand what shes saying then u have never smoked enough of it or for long enough - marijuana can ruin yr mind and the life around u and it does make you addictive if u smoke enough of it daily over years and years - u are obviously all still smoking the shit the fact is u are in complete denial yourself see u in 20 years lol ;)
1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food.
There is no such thing as marijuana addiction. Just addictive personalites. marijuana is easy to quit though. Just stop doing it. Unless you don't have a job, then don't quit doing it whatever you do!!!
i am 22 i have smoked marijuana everyday for seven years when i decided to quit i quitted immediately i did not feel the need to smoke yeh i did think about smoking but i still stopped my self from doing so. .i have been sober for 3 years now. . it depends on the person just sharing my experience with you guys :)
anyone who thinks weed isn't addictive is a moron. It's not a physically addictive substance, but neither are cigarettes when you consider nicotine is in your blood for only a few days.
Some smoke weed as a smoking habit and don't really get high (a majority of daily smokers).
Others smoke because they still do get buzzed and need to get buzzed all night similar to having beers or wine after work.
Umm im a daily medical marijuana user have been for years I vape, smoke eat everyday and still get medicated. I am not addicted BECAUSE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE, but it can be habit forming, but those are two opposite ends of the spectrum
please stop talking and do some research, thank you and have a nice day
@TheGrowDude Nicotine is highly addictive, if you smoke everyday lets say a pack or two, and stop then you will go through withdrawals, well that´s the purpose of the cigarette... ofc you have your opinion, but I´m just saying that in fact cigarettes are far far more addicting than weed, people can argue that, but it´s not the same addiction and thats the truth...
i don't understand all these stupid monkeys running about parroting their "mj is not addictive" slogans. I smoked for 20 years and i never foamed at the mouth over people that claimed it was addictive for them.
@blazedballa420 yes but the weed has a grip on you. the weed owns you. Just like cigarettes. You need to have it in your life and smoke it. Just admit it and be honest that all.
@TheGrowDude Dude i know people that went over 20 years without consuming cannabis no problem
Many People smoke, vape, eat cannabis because its fun, People generally do things they enjoy frequently. If your a daily cannabis user than the first couple of days may simply be different because they are used to smoking at a certain time(s), after that it is extremely easy to stay sober.
You are also incorrect in your definition of addiction you are mixing it up with dependence. Dependence is habit fueled. Addiction is fueled by the pain and fear of going through withdrawal symptoms
Marijuana has no withdrawel symptoms therefor not addicting
@blazedballa420 I've played World of Warcraft... a LOT. But I wasn't addicted. I just did it for entertainment cause there was nothing else to do. I put it down when there was better things to do and don't care to play it anymore.
Try to do the same thing with Alcohol, cigarettes, or anything that you are addicted to. There's no chance. It took me YEARS to quit smoking and a year to stop the cravings. Ciggarettes owned me..
Maybe it's just a habit. Most would consider it addiction.
anyone that would consider wow to be addicting would be ignorant, like you said quitting cigarettes, alcohol, crack, heroine, etc, is difficult because it is addicting, Marijuana IS NOT
The triad add method will work. Invasive species, chemical defoliants and marijuana camps. Kudzu will destroy marijuana, in parts of the rural South it can take down power lines! Chemical defoliants have been highly refined since Agent Orange days, it's astonishingly effective. The Wackenhut group are designing facilities that could house 25,000 marijuana addicts under one roof. We have to give these new programs a chance to work!
@IFlick They already have a wonderful well built silo for housing MJ addicts. It's the same place they put everybody who tries to experiment with their own life... it's also where they store the murderer's and rapists, ta-da it's called prison. I know a few people dying of terminal cancer who would beg to differ with you though. I know a lot of researchers, scientists, environmentalists, physicians, and scholars who would also argue against your claim with good sound reasoning. Open your mind.
It's like she's reading from a script... because she is. She is the posterboard child for anti-marijuana advocates everywhere. All she does is tell you how wonderful weed is and then tell you it's addictive. MJ is addictive in the way food is addictive. You develop a dependency on it because you're weak and pathetic, dislike your life and have no self esteem. People like her usually break their "addiction" when they find God, or learn to believe in themselves... 95% choose God. Truth.
uve clearly not had experience of smokin weed urself an being hooked on it, until u have u cant go on and rant the way u have here, ur chattin out ur ass majorly, i know plenty of people would have quit and it werent by 'finding god' hahaha ya muppet.... clearly not got a clue what ur chattin on about ya fukin joke
@Tongan09DPH And you're clearly stupid. First off, I admit to nothing when it comes to an illegal substance, but I'm going to tell you right now, I have more experience in nearly every way than you could possibly imagine you pea brained little insect. From the patients point of view, so on and so forth. I've known people first hand who've been "addicted" to MJ, and it has nothing to do with a physical dependance. It's 100% psychological, because your body doesn't build up a dependancy on it.
@Tongan09DPH-Secondly this is the information highway, cyberspace is chock full of drones who banter on about their woe's and wield blame in an effort to redirect responsibility and accountability from themselves like this lady. I'm sick of simple minded idiots like you who think in 2D because you've never taken the time to have an original thought in your entire life that wasn't inflicted upon you by the sensationalist propaganda farm of opposition to liberty and freedom
@Tongan09DPH - You're the paramecium excrete who jumps on the bandwagon with everyone else and does like he's told because you don't have the balls to question or compare research and look for the unbiased information to come up with your own clever conclusions and hypotheses. Even when the facts are 50/50 your still trying to flail the burning pitch on people who beg to differ. Don't talk to me about your "addicted" friends either, if they want to quit they can, they just don't want to quit.
@Tongan09DPH - Don't think cuz you work for the DPH that you know a damn thing either, you're not a doctor, nor a scientist, you haven't done clinical studies yourself, you just witness a bunch of assholes who are good at playing the system to get attention so you can continue to enable them. You don't know shit, stop acting like you do. When you do a proven clinical study, and it hits the NEJM or JAMA then you can boast, but until then STFU and stop speculating, you're not qualified, idiot.
i wudv hated to hav smoked with a bam like her fukin hippie!! i look fwd to a spliff and a beer every night when i come home from the gym and im normal haha this bitch is crazy !!
propaganda dont smoke weed kids or youl end up like this crazy mofo lmfao.
I definitly get manic when i dont have it . good video If you smoke everyday it needs to stop this is coming from a kronic 11 year pothed who smoked everyday
@hurtinkids Look, I love mary jane but this is a really old and stupid cliche line. First of all, this "god" made thousands of species of poisonous plants. Some that are potent enough to kill an adult human minutes after ingestion.
@UserName0043 idd. Everything can be addictive but something are physically and something mentally. Marijuana addiction is no more like candys or coffee
@UserName0043 That doesn't lessen the reality of marijuana addiction for people who struggle with it. Look, I know it's not heroin withdrawal, but a small minority of users DO get addicted and it manifests itself even in physical symptoms (insomnia, shakes, etc...) in many of these people when they try to quit. Studies have proven this. I don't think weed is the culprit here, but the way that some people choose to use it.
I feel that the problem with marijuana is not necesarily that it is physically harmful to us, although with extensive use there can be negative health effects, but that like the woman in the video spoke about, it is simply an escape from a reality which is often unfair. An escape from a reality in which the pain, regrets, and/or stresses and burdens prevent us from living the life that we have so deeply desired, and thus a desire to just, even if for a little while, have a semblance of happiness
@malcolmali16 Some of us have issues with depression, anxiety, parasomnias, trouble eating, etc. Marijuana has fewer side effects than almost any drug used to treat those symptoms(see prozac).
However, some people also use marijuana in the same way others use alcohol. The difference? Marijuana's side effects are less detrimental to one's health. Used responsibly I would say it's a better "social" drug than alcohol, as well.
@jesuriah Used in any way cannabis is a far better social drug than alcohol, and the proof is in the effects! Side effects of smoking pot: happiness, hunger, short term memory loss, sometimes coughing, euphoria, paranoia, relaxation, and depending on the person's belief the experience can be spiritual. It really depends on the individual and environment as to which of these will be be experienced. Also it's about as addictive as a good movie or game. Alcohol is a depressant and addictive.
@NormanMatchem I completely agree. I'm not saying people *never get in car accidents because they're too stoned, however compared to drunk driving collisions marijuana is a non-factor. I have never seen anyone in my life fly into a "stoner rage" and beat their spouse/friend/whatever. I have seen two lifelong friends destroy their friendship while using alcohol.
The stupid right wingers think they know what's best for us, and would rather see us take modern prescriptions which have...cont.
There are plenty of "right-wingers" who have supported legalization, and plenty of politicians on the left who have wanted to escalate the war on drugs (ever heard of a guy named Bill Clinton?) I am a hardcore liberal and even I can see this.
@shamrockcorp I agree with you, however(as far as broad sweeping statements go), you must admit, most anti drug legislation is pushed by right wing organisations/persons.
@jesuriah Yes, statistically the left shows greater support for legalization. That said, I encourage you to be aware that there is a significant number of folks on both sides who support legalization (or criminalization). The same goes for the prescription drug issue. Broad sweeping statements don't encourage bipartisanship, and that is what we want, right?
@NormanMatchem ..insane risks. I brought up prozac as an example because one of the common side effects is suicidal thoughts. Every person I've met with bipolar disorder, depression, dysthymia, etc. who was on some prescription either weened themselves off of those drugs, had a psychotic episode, or used marijuana as a substitute and are now much happier(I'm not being literal here, so please nobody on the interwebs quote this as fact).
marijuana is habitual not addictive .... comparing it to nicotine heroine or other physically and mentally adictive substance is pointless .. marijuana can be compared to caffine ... it can be adicive in some cases but only mentaly never physically(you dont expirience withdrawl simptoms ... you can abuse anything ... its more about self-control then physical or mental dependencies ....
It´s not quite the same because marijuana doens´t affect the jackpot center of the brain like heroin and all these other addicting drugs. I remember seing this in some documentary, cant remember for sure what that guy explained.
@Xrazor4Games93 Hahaha. The jackpot center? I've heard of reward systems but never jackpot center. Marijuana certainly does affect your brains reward systems, but that doesn't change the fact that it also creates an imbalance. It is addicting. Not as addicting as heroin but you can get addicted and it can make you feel like shit when you stop. Moderate your use. That's all I'm saying.
@Xrazor4Games93 I realize that. I've accounted for that. It's because most people don't smoke the amount of marijuana needed to be abusing it. I don't know the weight you have to smoke and how often, but I know that you need to smoke a lot more weed a lot more often to get addicted than you do heroin or other drugs.
Again, I'm not saying that weed is as addicting as heroin, I'm saying the scientific theory on why heroin and other drugs are addicting is the same theory applied to weed.
@CK3890 Saying Marijuana is as addictive as Heroin when abused is also a bunch of bullshit.
If you´re are "abusing" marijuana and want to stop the habit you can stop it, maybe it´s going to be psycologically hard, but its not going to fuck you up physically like Heroin, thats some crazy shit real addiction!.
@Xrazor4Games93 It does fuck you up physically. I couldn't sleep for about 60 hours the first time I quit. And when I started sleeping I got night sweats for like a week. It was exhausting. I'm sure it was nothing like heroin withdrawals (luckily I've never done heroin, but I have two friends who died from it in the past year and like a dozen or so other addicted friends), but it does fuck you up mentally and physically because it's physiologically addictive. Look it up.
@Xrazor4Games93 Convincing argument. Why would I trust you? Did you not read any of my comments? I used to smoke a shitton. I stopped and now I realize it's addictive. I guess I'll never convince you though.
@CK3890 maybe your just weak but its not physically addicting. You may think you need it well not really need more like want it. i took a couple months off weed after smoking for years. doesnt really sound like your telling the truth about staying up for two and a half days. anyway the withdraw symptoms (if any) are all in your head.
marijuana isn't addictive, YOU make it addictive. You don't get the shakes or puke or show any signs of withdraw. Me i smoke it whenever i get it, i don't have a need to actually go out and look for it extensively or hock things to get the money to support it. Marijuana effects everyone differently. Me i can work, drive, play sports, and work out when i smoke. i tend to do so to put me in a tranquil state so i can extend my time on jogging. it just puts your mind at ease and nerves to rest.
@muffinheadstatus That's true of any drug. You make it addictive by abusing it. What's not true is that marijuana isn't addictive. It is scientifically proven (up to the same point as heroin) that it is physiologically addictive.
@CK3890 It´s not scientifically proven that marijuana is physiologically addictive like heroin, it´s two Extremely different drugs and marijuana does not cause any kind of withdrawl symptoms like heroin, tobacco, alchohol(addiction).
it can be mentally addictive just like candy and fast food, which means you love it!
@Xrazor4Games93 It is too. You just haven't looked it up. We have cannabinoid receptors and they function in the same ways opioid receptors do. They produce chemicals which regulate our systems. When you abuse either of the drugs, the respective receptors stop producing the chemicals because you are already ingesting them and your body is smart enough to know you don't need a double dose.
Marijuana withdrawal includes: insomnia, night sweats, irritability and decrease appetite.
@CK3890 Marijuana addiction is a myth, and why is it a myth, maybe because most people rejects it... ofcause mainly smokers, because we´re the ones who know what it´s like.
Well I do believe that a very small percentage of people might become addicted, I dont why though....
@Xrazor4Games93 It's not a myth. It's been proven. It's not as addicting as heroin, meaning you need A LOT more of it to actually be 'abusing' it. Once you abuse a drug that is physiologically addictive (meaning your brain produces it's own version of the drug), then it creates an imbalance. It's fundamentally the same as heroin, crack, pcp, or any other physiologically addicting drug.
I used to smoke a lot. I mean a lot. I didn't believe you could get addicted either till I tried stopping.
@Xrazor4Games93 So while it's less addictive, it's still addictive. The withdrawal symptoms aren't as severe, but they're there. It's addictive if you smoke too much. Just take it from me. I'm not some DARE instructor or a parent who just caught his kid smoking and he/she won't listen, I'm 21 and I just quit smoking only a month ago. I write on here to educate people to enjoy marijuana. Don't make it a habit that you must have for anything to be fun. Moderate your use. You can get addicted.
@CK3890 quit trying to spread false information about it being addictive like crack or heroin when its completely different. Just because you dont have the brain power to control your habits doesnt give you the right to spread bullshit myths.
@cannonultra789 You're absolutely retarded. It's completely true information and I did not ever say marijuana addiction is as addicting as crack or heroin, I just said the fundamentals of what CAUSES the addiction is the same neurologically. I have the power, I quit. I might start again someday, but not for a long time when I know I can moderate it. I know some people can. Some people don't abuse marijuana.
Others, like me, cannot. This isn't a myth, it's reality.
@Xrazor4Games93 There are other withdrawal symptoms, but these four were the ones I experienced. I'm sure you'll just call me a liar or something though.
@punxabby420 Propaganda? How is calling marijuana addictive propaganda? That isn't distorting the truth whatsoever. Look it up. We all have cannabinoid receptors in our brain. If you abuse marijuana, these receptors lose the ability to produce these chemicals on their own. This is what causes marijuana, along with every other type of, addiction. It's proven scientific fact. Don't get me wrong. I love weed. It's a great medicine.
But medicines should not be abused. It should be used for purpose.
@CK3890 Well in that case we have receptors in our brain for every single form of pleasure. I also love weed but if I have a break for it a have nothing more than simple desire to experience something I really enjoy, no different from other life simple pleasures. It's not more of an addiction thany any other pleasure. And it certainly doesn't hook you in a way tpbacco, alcohol, meth, heroin etc etc do. So you lie basically and no amount of talk about the llife of receptors will change that.
@Alexus095 Anything that's pleasurable can be addicting. It certainly does hook you in those ways. The fundamentals of marijuana addiction are the same as heroin or tobacco, it's just not as severe. I don't lie, you just don't understand addictions.
@CK3890 Of course you lie. Sure any pleasure can make certain individuals depend on it more or less. And thus you can call it "addiction". However there is another sense in which term "addiction" is used, ie to denote special severe dependance (typically with withdrawals) on certain substance. And that is most definately and obviously not the case with MJ. You need to be really disconected from reality to not notice that. Then again we both know you're just spinning.
@Alexus095 That addiction is mental addiction. That's the only real type of mental addiction. All controlled substances cause physiological addiction when abused. I don't lie. I used to smoke weed all the time, I know from experience. I also know from the Harvard Crimson and the Discovery Channel. They all confirmed what my brother told me long ago. We all have CB receptors, just like opioid receptors. CB receptors are responsible for many feelings, but mostly happiness and comfort.
@CK3890 What exactly you know from experience? My experience is that I develop no addiction whatsoever. Sure I want it, hell I migh even crave it, but that's no different from other things I may want or crave like having a good time with my buddies. That's the experience of shitload of people. This situation is FUNDAMETALLY different from situation with tobacco and heroin. And it's not much different (if at all) from any other simple pleasure. If whatever things you think you know about
@Alexus095 I know that marijuana is addicting when abused. If you develop no addiction then you simply aren't abusing. This isn't my opinion here sport. This is a well established scientific theory. It's not fundamentally different, it's fundamentally the same and that's a fact. We have cannabinoid receptors just like we have opioid receptors. If you abuse drugs that contain the chemicals that these neurotransmitters produce, they stop producing the chemicals you are taking.
@Alexus095 I didn't say it was different from a simple pleasure. Marijuana is a drug. It can be harmful and can be addicting when abused. If you can moderate your usage, more power to you. Just because you haven't experience addiction doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. I didn't say that many people didn't experience what you experienced. You seem to think if you smoked it and you didn't get addicted it's not addicting. Just like any drug, you have to abuse it before addiction can occur.
@Alexus095 I never said you claimed it was. You implied it many times though. You can get addicted to any drug, and yet you say you can't get addicted to marijuana. This implies that marijuana is not a drug. It's called deductive reasoning. If a = b and b = c then a = c. And if there's anyone with a reading comprehension problem, it's the guy who makes the other guy repeat what he says over and over and over.
But whatever. You're set in stone and no one can change your opinions but you. I give.
@CK3890 receptors fail to account for this fundamental difference between MJ and opioids, which makes (at least for majority) MJ indistiguishible from nonaddictive pleasures, than you don't know much. And dude I am real, I talk about real things and real experiences, you talk about Discovery channel documentary about receptors. Reason I'm less than friendly to you is because all this addiction, "should be used for a purpose" crap usually indicate prohibitionist.
@Alexus095 What fundamental difference? Do you even know what the word fundamental means? Non-addictive pleasures? There's no such thing. We already went over this. I said that I know from experience, and what my brother told me was confirmed by the Harvard Crimson and the Discovery channel. That's four sources. What the fuck are you talking about? What a completely retarded assumption. Because I say you should take drugs for a purpose, not recreation, I'm a prohibitionist? Are you mental?
@Alexus095 For the record, you are an asshole. Someone disagrees with you so you aren't friendly to them? What a nazi outlook on constructive debate. Grow up.
@CK3890 LOL my you're one bitter dude) i'm truly sorry i doubted your rock hard knowledge based on dicovery channel, "ivy league newspaper" and most importantly your brother. I'm also sorry you were "addicted" to pot, those withdrawals must have been huge. All you do is repeat the same crap all over again in different words. I got it the first time that you believe we have receptors, which habituate to substance and stop producing whatever they produce once substance is ceased thus causing
@Alexus095 Again, for the fourth time, I know from experience. These other three things confirmed what I believed to be true. I was addicted to pot, and the withdrawals weren't bad after the first two days. Again, just because it's not as severe as other drugs doesn't mean it's not there. Of course I repeat the same crap, you keep doing the best you can to ignore everything I say. If you didn't ignore what I say and cherry-pick my words to fit your argument, I wouldn't be repeating myself.
"addiction". It's a fairly simple stuff that you once heard and now parroting. What you refuse to understand (since it actually requires thinking and not just parroting) is that some substances (like tobacco or opiates) cause superintense craving and suffering (withdrawals) upon ceasation, while others like pot don't cause them at all, even if you use them every day. That's my experience and the experience of countless users. It means
@Alexus095 No, I did not say stop producing these chemicals when you stop, it's while you're abusing. When you stop your brain re-learns how to produce these chemicals again. Notice how I have to correct you in every comment? Further proof that you just paraphrase what I say to fit your (non-existent) argument. What I refuse to understand? You're the one refusing. I've said that I had withdrawal and intense cravings. You just don't believe me. You're the one refusing, clearly.
@Alexus095 Your experience and the experience of others do not speak for the experience of everyone. I am not the only one who claims to have been addicted to marijuana. There are plenty of other people out there who would say the same, but you would dismiss them because you haven't had the experience. There is not something fundamentally different other than opioid receptors produce chemicals that have different effects on the body than the effects produced by cannabinoid receptors.
as far as receptors are concerned, that there is something fundamentally different in the way heroin and pot receptors work. See that's the problem with parroting: you can't think for yourself. You can't even recognize obvious reality that (at least for majority) pot have no physiological dependance (akin to tobacco or heroin) whatsoever. Instead all you can do is spin: you have no dependance? Well it must be that you're not really "abusing" it hard enough, cause when you really
@Alexus095 I recognize reality, you don't. You deny what people say and call them prohibitionists. As if I'm really going on a youtube blog about marijuana addiction because I'm so committed to the war on drugs. I'm on here because I was addicted to weed and I want to educate people. I was misinformed by my peers in 8th grade just like I was misinformed by D.A.R.E. before that. Again, you don't understand addictions. Your brain produces anything that can get you high by itself.
@Alexus095 If your brain didn't produce these chemicals, you wouldn't get high off them. That's why some cats don't get high off catnip. They don't have the receptors that other cats do. If you really aren't dependent (and most people do not realize they have a problem until they actually quit, like myself), then you aren't abusing. That's not a spin, that's reality. That statement is true of ANY drug.
start "abusing" it dependance will come...cause it should come, cause my brother told me there are CB receptors in brain...dude you basically personify uncritical thinking) good bye
@Alexus095 I'll repeat, since you simply will not include everything I said (because you know it will make all your cherry-picking that much more apparent). I was addicted. I know from experience. I smoked a LOT of weed in my day. I didn't know I was addicted, I didn't even consider that it was addictive until I quit. I didn't listen to my brother, I thought he was crazy like you. Then I quit, and what my brother said was confirmed by the Harvard Crimson and the Discovery Channel.
@Alexus095 And whereas I have four sources (five if you include the people who agree it's addictive, but I can't count the people who don't think it's addictive as sources for your 'theory'), you have just one source that says marijuana isn't physiologically addictive. If the Discovery Channel is such an unreliable source, why haven't you cited anything to the contrary? Oh that's right, it's because there isn't anything.
Give it up. You lost this argument a long time ago.
@Alexus095 When marijuana is abused, the CB receptors are tricked into thinking that they don't need to produce these chemicals anymore because of such a regular intake. It is the case with mary jane, just like tobacco, heroin, crack, and any other drug you can think of. The only addictions that aren't physiologically addictive are ones that don't involve substances (internet, gambling, porn, etc.).
Weed isn't as dangerous or addictive as some drugs, but it's not harmless. Get real.
@Alexus095 And what does I'm just spinning mean? Was this an attempt of an insult? I don't know why you would insult me. All I said was that you don't understand addictions. Would you be offended if I also told you that you don't understand astrophysics?
@CK3890 then, well you're just ignorant not prohibitionist and i'm sorry for being mean....dude simple fact is that i smoke it every day and when i take a break from it it's no different than taking a break from any other pleasure, like watching movies (i like pot more so the urge is greater but that's me). That's the exact experience of countless everyday users. Now you say every pleasure is addictive, ok. But you have to be really disconnected to not notice GLOBAL, FUNDAMENTAL difference of
pleasing habit and addiction you develop to tobacco and heroin. Anyway if you concede MJ is an "addiction" in the same sense any kind of pleasure is or may be addiction, i'm cool with that. Just next time you refer to MJ as addictive please clearify that you mean it's pleasure and any pleasure can be addictive.
@Alexus095 I did clarify, you just can't read. I said any pleasurable thing can be addictive (TWICE). I also specified that the only true mental addiction occurs with pleasurable activities, not substances. Any substance that you can get high off of, your brain produces it's own version of that substance. When you abuse that substance, your brain forgets how to produce it for some time (depending on which drug).
I love how your entire argument is to misquote me and reduce all my sources to TV.
@Alexus095 Face it. Marijuana is addictive and harmful. Not as addictive and harmful as other drugs, but you shouldn't go around acting as if it's completely harmless. That's not the case. That's 8th grade "try this shit" propaganda. I gave you no propaganda. I didn't sit here and tell you weed is gonna make you beat your wife and lose your job and go crazy, I gave straight facts that you could EASILY verify with google.
Marijuana is a drug. Nothing you can say will change that.
@Alexus095 LOL yeah dude, I'm an asshole and Nazi. Cause that's what Nazi's did, they were unfriendly with people they didn't like. So mature folk who watch Discovery Channel knows when someone is not friendly to them you just aprropriately call them Nazi...you're a hoot...however if you really all for complete legalization of MJ, decide to keep your "shoulds" strictly for yourself, and repeat prohibitionist propaganda talking points just cause you heard it on Discovery Channel,
@Alexus095 Yes, you are an an asshole and no, you have a nazi outlook on constructive debate. I love how you ignore my other three sources to try to strengthen your complete lack of an argument. I used to smoke weed heavily and I know from experience that it's addictive. I also heard from my brother that we have CB receptors just like opioid receptors, and this was first confirmed by a fucking Ivy League newspaper, and THEN the discovery channel. I didn't call you a Nazi, read slowly.
@Alexus095 I don't call for just the legalization of marijuana, but all drugs. We need to take drugs out of the hands of gangbangers and criminals and put it in the hands of qualified pharmacists and doctors. My shoulds? I never told anyone else they should do drugs for a purpose, I just THINK we all should. So I am keeping to myself. Again, read more slowly. It's not prohibitionist propaganda you lunatic, it's a very well accepted scientific theory, and as accepted as the theory about opioids.
Well. i was using tinctures (strong tinctures) i grew my own grade A stuff, 2 strains. made excellent oil with it and ate 30grams of it in 2 days.. i was still standing. driving, working.. whatever. i did it.. i made my own BHO from the best strains in existence.. it fucked up my short term memory really bad while i was high.. but anyways.. i stopped cold turkey and its been 6 weeks now.. and i sweat alot the first night.. but i might of just had too many blankets.. i went to rehab only for 3day
@paulrpmg depression is in the mind.. yes there is a chemical imbalance that is caused from the cannabis abuse.. but in the end it is your CHOICE to be depressed or whatever. im in alot of pain, i have celiac disease and its hard to avoid gluten contamination and im working on getting my medical marijuana card.. i stopped because i was curious as to what my "full potential" was... i will get that card.. im never smoking again everyday.. gonna make REAL medicine with it.. i love thc+cannabinoids
i feel im adicted to weed,,,have been for a long time,,18 years,,,all is good when i can smoke even few a day,,,3 days with out,,,i fall to bits,,,all order is lost,,,
This is complete bullshit. You can't become physically addicted to marijuana. The only thing that could even resemble a weed addiction is psychological (which I don't consider real even though studies do). I love playing music.. does that mean I'm addicted?
@christianz2010 then why myself and my 3 best friends ( who r obviously not related to me ) all have become a slave to weed. We've all been smoking for 15 years and just can't quit. Why every night do we have the identical demon ( figure of speech ) telling us what to do... I've quit for 2 weeks now and every minute is hell. Mind you - i used to say what you say in my 20's. I'm 32 now and believe me - I'm an addict
@christianz2010 listen here you ignorant cunt. Until last week I smoked 10 bongs in a row the minute i get home from work. Then i'm a slave to it for the rest of night. Around my eyes are now shaded dark and i look like a fucking Arab. I've developed a pain in my lower left lung which i'm too scared to ask a doctor what it is. Recently fired from a 100K job because of being always 5 min late - because i can't even get out of bed from the 50+ bongs the night before. Good luck with it toughguy
@christianz2010 I never said it's made me stupid. Do i have to talk like a dumb shit to be a stoner? I'm a real-estate agent, did you expect me to talk like a child and use hip words just because i smoke? Dumb cunts are dumb cunts - weed or no weed. When you have a family and others rely on you though, you'll understand what it does. Btw, if u smoke occasionally thats fine, good for u, but i can't do that- if i have weed i have to smoke all night. You are too quick to judge others friend
people like it ,, so they keep smoking it .. is that an addiction.
if it becomes a problem ... TRY MODERATION
or OCCASIONAL

But actually it's nothing.
afterapplepicking 3 weeks ago
@afterapplepicking Benzos and Alcohol are the only drugs with lethal withdrawals.

@afterapplepicking insomnia and lack of appetite are withdrawals because they are a direct result of stopping the supply of weed to the brain. They are unpleasant

I've been smoking everday since I was 17. I'm 22 now and when I tried to quit I got very depressed, paranoid, I had diarrhea for a week, and completely lost my appetite for a while. I didn't believe that MJ was addictive until I LIVED through the withdrawals.
madman44c 1 month ago
Marijuana is definitely physically addictive. When I tried to stop, it was just like stopping tobacco. I didn't believe it at first, but after the 5th time trying to quit weed, I realized 'these are classic withdraw symptoms. Punishing insomnia, mind ripping anxiety, black suicidal depression, and not eating for 4 or 5 days. Totally exhausted too. Finally got tired of the hellish withdraw process and quit for good. It was absolute hell.

alot of people commenting havent have f***ing clue what they are talking abt this woman makes so much sense - if u dont understand what shes saying then u have never smoked enough of it or for long enough - marijuana can ruin yr mind and the life around u and it does make you addictive if u smoke enough of it daily over years and years - u are obviously all still smoking the shit the fact is u are in complete denial yourself see u in 20 years lol ;)

anyone who thinks weed isn't addictive is a moron.
Others just like to indulge like food.
But to say that it's not addictive is denial.
TheGrowDude 7 months ago
@TheGrowDude
Umm im a daily medical marijuana user have been for years I vape, smoke eat everyday and still get medicated. I am not addicted BECAUSE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE, but it can be habit forming, but those are two opposite ends of the spectrum
please stop talking and do some research, thank you and have a nice day
blazedballa420 7 months ago
@TheGrowDude Nicotine is highly addictive, if you smoke everyday lets say a pack or two, and stop then you will go through withdrawals, well that´s the purpose of the cigarette... ofc you have your opinion, but I´m just saying that in fact cigarettes are far far more addicting than weed, people can argue that, but it´s not the same addiction and thats the truth...

blazedballa420 8 months ago
@blazedballa420 yes but the weed has a grip on you. the weed owns you. Just like cigarettes. You need to have it in your life and smoke it. Just admit it and be honest that all.

Others are addicted to porn. etc. etc.
The thing is, just admit it.
TheGrowDude 7 months ago
@TheGrowDude Dude i know people that went over 20 years without consuming cannabis no problem
Many People smoke, vape, eat cannabis because its fun, People generally do things they enjoy frequently. If your a daily cannabis user than the first couple of days may simply be different because they are used to smoking at a certain time(s), after that it is extremely easy to stay sober.
blazedballa420 7 months ago
@TheGrowDude
You are also incorrect in your definition of addiction you are mixing it up with dependence. Dependence is habit fueled. Addiction is fueled by the pain and fear of going through withdrawal symptoms
Marijuana has no withdrawel symptoms therefor not addicting
blazedballa420 7 months ago
@blazedballa420 I've played World of Warcraft... a LOT. But I wasn't addicted. I just did it for entertainment cause there was nothing else to do. I put it down when there was better things to do and don't care to play it anymore.
Try to do the same thing with Alcohol, cigarettes, or anything that you are addicted to. There's no chance. It took me YEARS to quit smoking and a year to stop the cravings. Ciggarettes owned me..
Maybe it's just a habit. Most would consider it addiction.
TheGrowDude 7 months ago
@TheGrowDude
anyone that would consider wow to be addicting would be ignorant, like you said quitting cigarettes, alcohol, crack, heroine, etc, is difficult because it is addicting, Marijuana IS NOT
blazedballa420 7 months ago
The triad add method will work. Invasive species, chemical defoliants and marijuana camps. Kudzu will destroy marijuana, in parts of the rural South it can take down power lines! Chemical defoliants have been highly refined since Agent Orange days, it's astonishingly effective. The Wackenhut group are designing facilities that could house 25,000 marijuana addicts under one roof. We have to give these new programs a chance to work!

NinetiesYouth 11 months ago
I feel that the problem with marijuana is not necesarily that it is physically harmful to us, although with extensive use there can be negative health effects, but that like the woman in the video spoke about, it is simply an escape from a reality which is often unfair. An escape from a reality in which the pain, regrets, and/or stresses and burdens prevent us from living the life that we have so deeply desired, and thus a desire to just, even if for a little while, have a semblance of happiness
malcolmali16 11 months ago
@malcolmali16 Some of us have issues with depression, anxiety, parasomnias, trouble eating, etc. Marijuana has fewer side effects than almost any drug used to treat those symptoms(see prozac).
However, some people also use marijuana in the same way others use alcohol. The difference? Marijuana's side effects are less detrimental to one's health. Used responsibly I would say it's a better "social" drug than alcohol, as well.
jesuriah 11 months ago
@jesuriah Used in any way cannabis is a far better social drug than alcohol, and the proof is in the effects! Side effects of smoking pot: happiness, hunger, short term memory loss, sometimes coughing, euphoria, paranoia, relaxation, and depending on the person's belief the experience can be spiritual. It really depends on the individual and environment as to which of these will be be experienced. Also it's about as addictive as a good movie or game. Alcohol is a depressant and addictive.
NormanMatchem 10 months ago
@NormanMatchem I completely agree. I'm not saying people *never get in car accidents because they're too stoned, however compared to drunk driving collisions marijuana is a non-factor. I have never seen anyone in my life fly into a "stoner rage" and beat their spouse/friend/whatever. I have seen two lifelong friends destroy their friendship while using alcohol.
The stupid right wingers think they know what's best for us, and would rather see us take modern prescriptions which have...cont.
jesuriah 10 months ago
@jesuriah
There are plenty of "right-wingers" who have supported legalization, and plenty of politicians on the left who have wanted to escalate the war on drugs (ever heard of a guy named Bill Clinton?) I am a hardcore liberal and even I can see this.
shamrockcorp 10 months ago
@shamrockcorp I agree with you, however(as far as broad sweeping statements go), you must admit, most anti drug legislation is pushed by right wing organisations/persons.
jesuriah 10 months ago
@jesuriah Yes, statistically the left shows greater support for legalization. That said, I encourage you to be aware that there is a significant number of folks on both sides who support legalization (or criminalization). The same goes for the prescription drug issue. Broad sweeping statements don't encourage bipartisanship, and that is what we want, right?
shamrockcorp 10 months ago
@NormanMatchem ..insane risks. I brought up prozac as an example because one of the common side effects is suicidal thoughts. Every person I've met with bipolar disorder, depression, dysthymia, etc. who was on some prescription either weened themselves off of those drugs, had a psychotic episode, or used marijuana as a substitute and are now much happier(I'm not being literal here, so please nobody on the interwebs quote this as fact).
Cheers, and keep spreading the good word!
jesuriah 10 months ago
marijuana is habitual not addictive .... comparing it to nicotine heroine or other physically and mentally adictive substance is pointless .. marijuana can be compared to caffine ... it can be adicive in some cases but only mentaly never physically(you dont expirience withdrawl simptoms ... you can abuse anything ... its more about self-control then physical or mental dependencies ....

It´s not quite the same because marijuana doens´t affect the jackpot center of the brain like heroin and all these other addicting drugs. I remember seing this in some documentary, cant remember for sure what that guy explained.
Xrazor4Games93 11 months ago
@Xrazor4Games93 Hahaha. The jackpot center? I've heard of reward systems but never jackpot center. Marijuana certainly does affect your brains reward systems, but that doesn't change the fact that it also creates an imbalance. It is addicting. Not as addicting as heroin but you can get addicted and it can make you feel like shit when you stop. Moderate your use. That's all I'm saying.
CK3890 11 months ago
Maybe it´s just some people having these symptons.... I can´t tell though, but an marijuana addiction is not the case for lot of people.
Xrazor4Games93 11 months ago
@Xrazor4Games93 I realize that. I've accounted for that. It's because most people don't smoke the amount of marijuana needed to be abusing it. I don't know the weight you have to smoke and how often, but I know that you need to smoke a lot more weed a lot more often to get addicted than you do heroin or other drugs.
Again, I'm not saying that weed is as addicting as heroin, I'm saying the scientific theory on why heroin and other drugs are addicting is the same theory applied to weed.
CK3890 11 months ago
@CK3890 Saying Marijuana is as addictive as Heroin when abused is also a bunch of bullshit.
If you´re are "abusing" marijuana and want to stop the habit you can stop it, maybe it´s going to be psycologically hard, but its not going to fuck you up physically like Heroin, thats some crazy shit real addiction!.
Xrazor4Games93 1 year ago
@Xrazor4Games93 It does fuck you up physically. I couldn't sleep for about 60 hours the first time I quit. And when I started sleeping I got night sweats for like a week. It was exhausting. I'm sure it was nothing like heroin withdrawals (luckily I've never done heroin, but I have two friends who died from it in the past year and like a dozen or so other addicted friends), but it does fuck you up mentally and physically because it's physiologically addictive. Look it up.
CK3890 1 year ago
@CK3890 bullshit and not true. Trust me I´ve done almost a year of research on this.
Xrazor4Games93 11 months ago
@Xrazor4Games93 Convincing argument. Why would I trust you? Did you not read any of my comments? I used to smoke a shitton. I stopped and now I realize it's addictive. I guess I'll never convince you though.
CK3890 11 months ago
@CK3890 maybe your just weak but its not physically addicting. You may think you need it well not really need more like want it. i took a couple months off weed after smoking for years. doesnt really sound like your telling the truth about staying up for two and a half days. anyway the withdraw symptoms (if any) are all in your head.
cannonultra789 11 months ago
@cannonultra789 Maybe heroin isn't addicting. Idiot. Have you even looked it up?

eggobeater95 1 year ago
marijuana isn't addictive, YOU make it addictive. You don't get the shakes or puke or show any signs of withdraw. Me i smoke it whenever i get it, i don't have a need to actually go out and look for it extensively or hock things to get the money to support it. Marijuana effects everyone differently. Me i can work, drive, play sports, and work out when i smoke. i tend to do so to put me in a tranquil state so i can extend my time on jogging. it just puts your mind at ease and nerves to rest.
muffinheadstatus 1 year ago
@muffinheadstatus That's true of any drug. You make it addictive by abusing it. What's not true is that marijuana isn't addictive. It is scientifically proven (up to the same point as heroin) that it is physiologically addictive.
CK3890 1 year ago
@CK3890 It´s not scientifically proven that marijuana is physiologically addictive like heroin, it´s two Extremely different drugs and marijuana does not cause any kind of withdrawl symptoms like heroin, tobacco, alchohol(addiction).
it can be mentally addictive just like candy and fast food, which means you love it!
Xrazor4Games93 1 year ago
@Xrazor4Games93 It is too. You just haven't looked it up. We have cannabinoid receptors and they function in the same ways opioid receptors do. They produce chemicals which regulate our systems. When you abuse either of the drugs, the respective receptors stop producing the chemicals because you are already ingesting them and your body is smart enough to know you don't need a double dose.
Marijuana withdrawal includes: insomnia, night sweats, irritability and decrease appetite.
CK3890 1 year ago
@CK3890 Marijuana addiction is a myth, and why is it a myth, maybe because most people rejects it... ofcause mainly smokers, because we´re the ones who know what it´s like.
Well I do believe that a very small percentage of people might become addicted, I dont why though....
Xrazor4Games93 1 year ago
@Xrazor4Games93 It's not a myth. It's been proven. It's not as addicting as heroin, meaning you need A LOT more of it to actually be 'abusing' it. Once you abuse a drug that is physiologically addictive (meaning your brain produces it's own version of the drug), then it creates an imbalance. It's fundamentally the same as heroin, crack, pcp, or any other physiologically addicting drug.
I used to smoke a lot. I mean a lot. I didn't believe you could get addicted either till I tried stopping.
CK3890 1 year ago
@Xrazor4Games93 So while it's less addictive, it's still addictive. The withdrawal symptoms aren't as severe, but they're there. It's addictive if you smoke too much. Just take it from me. I'm not some DARE instructor or a parent who just caught his kid smoking and he/she won't listen, I'm 21 and I just quit smoking only a month ago. I write on here to educate people to enjoy marijuana. Don't make it a habit that you must have for anything to be fun. Moderate your use. You can get addicted.
CK3890 1 year ago
@CK3890 quit trying to spread false information about it being addictive like crack or heroin when its completely different. Just because you dont have the brain power to control your habits doesnt give you the right to spread bullshit myths.
cannonultra789 11 months ago
@cannonultra789 You're absolutely retarded. It's completely true information and I did not ever say marijuana addiction is as addicting as crack or heroin, I just said the fundamentals of what CAUSES the addiction is the same neurologically. I have the power, I quit. I might start again someday, but not for a long time when I know I can moderate it. I know some people can. Some people don't abuse marijuana.
Others, like me, cannot. This isn't a myth, it's reality.
CK3890 11 months ago
@Xrazor4Games93 There are other withdrawal symptoms, but these four were the ones I experienced. I'm sure you'll just call me a liar or something though.

this is a bunch of propaganda bullshit fuck this
punxabby420 1 year ago
@punxabby420 Propaganda? How is calling marijuana addictive propaganda? That isn't distorting the truth whatsoever. Look it up. We all have cannabinoid receptors in our brain. If you abuse marijuana, these receptors lose the ability to produce these chemicals on their own. This is what causes marijuana, along with every other type of, addiction. It's proven scientific fact. Don't get me wrong. I love weed. It's a great medicine.
But medicines should not be abused. It should be used for purpose.
CK3890 1 year ago
@CK3890 Well in that case we have receptors in our brain for every single form of pleasure. I also love weed but if I have a break for it a have nothing more than simple desire to experience something I really enjoy, no different from other life simple pleasures. It's not more of an addiction thany any other pleasure. And it certainly doesn't hook you in a way tpbacco, alcohol, meth, heroin etc etc do. So you lie basically and no amount of talk about the llife of receptors will change that.
Alexus095 1 year ago
@Alexus095 Anything that's pleasurable can be addicting. It certainly does hook you in those ways. The fundamentals of marijuana addiction are the same as heroin or tobacco, it's just not as severe. I don't lie, you just don't understand addictions.
CK3890 1 year ago
@CK3890 Of course you lie. Sure any pleasure can make certain individuals depend on it more or less. And thus you can call it "addiction". However there is another sense in which term "addiction" is used, ie to denote special severe dependance (typically with withdrawals) on certain substance. And that is most definately and obviously not the case with MJ. You need to be really disconected from reality to not notice that. Then again we both know you're just spinning.
Alexus095 1 year ago
@Alexus095 That addiction is mental addiction. That's the only real type of mental addiction. All controlled substances cause physiological addiction when abused. I don't lie. I used to smoke weed all the time, I know from experience. I also know from the Harvard Crimson and the Discovery Channel. They all confirmed what my brother told me long ago. We all have CB receptors, just like opioid receptors. CB receptors are responsible for many feelings, but mostly happiness and comfort.
CK3890 1 year ago
@CK3890 What exactly you know from experience? My experience is that I develop no addiction whatsoever. Sure I want it, hell I migh even crave it, but that's no different from other things I may want or crave like having a good time with my buddies. That's the experience of shitload of people. This situation is FUNDAMETALLY different from situation with tobacco and heroin. And it's not much different (if at all) from any other simple pleasure. If whatever things you think you know about
Alexus095 1 year ago
@Alexus095 I know that marijuana is addicting when abused. If you develop no addiction then you simply aren't abusing. This isn't my opinion here sport. This is a well established scientific theory. It's not fundamentally different, it's fundamentally the same and that's a fact. We have cannabinoid receptors just like we have opioid receptors. If you abuse drugs that contain the chemicals that these neurotransmitters produce, they stop producing the chemicals you are taking.
CK3890 1 year ago
@Alexus095 I didn't say it was different from a simple pleasure. Marijuana is a drug. It can be harmful and can be addicting when abused. If you can moderate your usage, more power to you. Just because you haven't experience addiction doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. I didn't say that many people didn't experience what you experienced. You seem to think if you smoked it and you didn't get addicted it's not addicting. Just like any drug, you have to abuse it before addiction can occur.
CK3890 1 year ago
@CK3890 "Marijuana is a drug. Nothing you can say will change that."
I never claimed pot is not a drug, since it obviously is. Reading comprehension goes along with intelligence and you lack both.
Alexus095 1 year ago
@Alexus095 I never said you claimed it was. You implied it many times though. You can get addicted to any drug, and yet you say you can't get addicted to marijuana. This implies that marijuana is not a drug. It's called deductive reasoning. If a = b and b = c then a = c. And if there's anyone with a reading comprehension problem, it's the guy who makes the other guy repeat what he says over and over and over.
But whatever. You're set in stone and no one can change your opinions but you. I give.
CK3890 1 year ago
@CK3890 receptors fail to account for this fundamental difference between MJ and opioids, which makes (at least for majority) MJ indistiguishible from nonaddictive pleasures, than you don't know much. And dude I am real, I talk about real things and real experiences, you talk about Discovery channel documentary about receptors. Reason I'm less than friendly to you is because all this addiction, "should be used for a purpose" crap usually indicate prohibitionist.
Alexus095 1 year ago
@Alexus095 What fundamental difference? Do you even know what the word fundamental means? Non-addictive pleasures? There's no such thing. We already went over this. I said that I know from experience, and what my brother told me was confirmed by the Harvard Crimson and the Discovery channel. That's four sources. What the fuck are you talking about? What a completely retarded assumption. Because I say you should take drugs for a purpose, not recreation, I'm a prohibitionist? Are you mental?
CK3890 1 year ago
@Alexus095 For the record, you are an asshole. Someone disagrees with you so you aren't friendly to them? What a nazi outlook on constructive debate. Grow up.
CK3890 1 year ago
@CK3890 LOL my you're one bitter dude) i'm truly sorry i doubted your rock hard knowledge based on dicovery channel, "ivy league newspaper" and most importantly your brother. I'm also sorry you were "addicted" to pot, those withdrawals must have been huge. All you do is repeat the same crap all over again in different words. I got it the first time that you believe we have receptors, which habituate to substance and stop producing whatever they produce once substance is ceased thus causing
Alexus095 1 year ago
@Alexus095 Again, for the fourth time, I know from experience. These other three things confirmed what I believed to be true. I was addicted to pot, and the withdrawals weren't bad after the first two days. Again, just because it's not as severe as other drugs doesn't mean it's not there. Of course I repeat the same crap, you keep doing the best you can to ignore everything I say. If you didn't ignore what I say and cherry-pick my words to fit your argument, I wouldn't be repeating myself.
CK3890 1 year ago
"addiction". It's a fairly simple stuff that you once heard and now parroting. What you refuse to understand (since it actually requires thinking and not just parroting) is that some substances (like tobacco or opiates) cause superintense craving and suffering (withdrawals) upon ceasation, while others like pot don't cause them at all, even if you use them every day. That's my experience and the experience of countless users. It means
Alexus095 1 year ago
@Alexus095 No, I did not say stop producing these chemicals when you stop, it's while you're abusing. When you stop your brain re-learns how to produce these chemicals again. Notice how I have to correct you in every comment? Further proof that you just paraphrase what I say to fit your (non-existent) argument. What I refuse to understand? You're the one refusing. I've said that I had withdrawal and intense cravings. You just don't believe me. You're the one refusing, clearly.
CK3890 1 year ago
@Alexus095 Your experience and the experience of others do not speak for the experience of everyone. I am not the only one who claims to have been addicted to marijuana. There are plenty of other people out there who would say the same, but you would dismiss them because you haven't had the experience. There is not something fundamentally different other than opioid receptors produce chemicals that have different effects on the body than the effects produced by cannabinoid receptors.
CK3890 1 year ago
as far as receptors are concerned, that there is something fundamentally different in the way heroin and pot receptors work.
Alexus095 1 year ago
@Alexus095 I recognize reality, you don't. You deny what people say and call them prohibitionists. As if I'm really going on a youtube blog about marijuana addiction because I'm so committed to the war on drugs. I'm on here because I was addicted to weed and I want to educate people. I was misinformed by my peers in 8th grade just like I was misinformed by D.A.R.E. before that. Again, you don't understand addictions. Your brain produces anything that can get you high by itself.
CK3890 1 year ago
@Alexus095 If your brain didn't produce these chemicals, you wouldn't get high off them. That's why some cats don't get high off catnip. They don't have the receptors that other cats do. If you really aren't dependent (and most people do not realize they have a problem until they actually quit, like myself), then you aren't abusing. That's not a spin, that's reality. That statement is true of ANY drug.
CK3890 1 year ago
start "abusing" it dependance will come...cause it should come, cause my brother told me there are CB receptors in brain...dude you basically personify uncritical thinking) good bye
Alexus095 1 year ago
@Alexus095 I'll repeat, since you simply will not include everything I said (because you know it will make all your cherry-picking that much more apparent). I was addicted. I know from experience. I smoked a LOT of weed in my day. I didn't know I was addicted, I didn't even consider that it was addictive until I quit. I didn't listen to my brother, I thought he was crazy like you. Then I quit, and what my brother said was confirmed by the Harvard Crimson and the Discovery Channel.
CK3890 1 year ago
@Alexus095 And whereas I have four sources (five if you include the people who agree it's addictive, but I can't count the people who don't think it's addictive as sources for your 'theory'), you have just one source that says marijuana isn't physiologically addictive. If the Discovery Channel is such an unreliable source, why haven't you cited anything to the contrary? Oh that's right, it's because there isn't anything.
Give it up. You lost this argument a long time ago.
CK3890 1 year ago
@Alexus095 When marijuana is abused, the CB receptors are tricked into thinking that they don't need to produce these chemicals anymore because of such a regular intake. It is the case with mary jane, just like tobacco, heroin, crack, and any other drug you can think of. The only addictions that aren't physiologically addictive are ones that don't involve substances (internet, gambling, porn, etc.).
Weed isn't as dangerous or addictive as some drugs, but it's not harmless. Get real.
CK3890 1 year ago
@Alexus095 And what does I'm just spinning mean? Was this an attempt of an insult? I don't know why you would insult me. All I said was that you don't understand addictions. Would you be offended if I also told you that you don't understand astrophysics?
CK3890 1 year ago

@CK3890 then, well you're just ignorant not prohibitionist and i'm sorry for being mean....dude simple fact is that i smoke it every day and when i take a break from it it's no different than taking a break from any other pleasure, like watching movies (i like pot more so the urge is greater but that's me). That's the exact experience of countless everyday users. Now you say every pleasure is addictive, ok. But you have to be really disconnected to not notice GLOBAL, FUNDAMENTAL difference of
Alexus095 1 year ago
pleasing habit and addiction you develop to tobacco and heroin. Anyway if you concede MJ is an "addiction" in the same sense any kind of pleasure is or may be addiction, i'm cool with that. Just next time you refer to MJ as addictive please clearify that you mean it's pleasure and any pleasure can be addictive.
Alexus095 1 year ago
@Alexus095 I did clarify, you just can't read. I said any pleasurable thing can be addictive (TWICE). I also specified that the only true mental addiction occurs with pleasurable activities, not substances. Any substance that you can get high off of, your brain produces it's own version of that substance. When you abuse that substance, your brain forgets how to produce it for some time (depending on which drug).
I love how your entire argument is to misquote me and reduce all my sources to TV.
CK3890 1 year ago
@Alexus095 Face it. Marijuana is addictive and harmful. Not as addictive and harmful as other drugs, but you shouldn't go around acting as if it's completely harmless. That's not the case. That's 8th grade "try this shit" propaganda. I gave you no propaganda. I didn't sit here and tell you weed is gonna make you beat your wife and lose your job and go crazy, I gave straight facts that you could EASILY verify with google.
Marijuana is a drug. Nothing you can say will change that.
CK3890 1 year ago
@Alexus095 LOL yeah dude, I'm an asshole and Nazi. Cause that's what Nazi's did, they were unfriendly with people they didn't like. So mature folk who watch Discovery Channel knows when someone is not friendly to them you just aprropriately call them Nazi...you're a hoot...however if you really all for complete legalization of MJ, decide to keep your "shoulds" strictly for yourself, and repeat prohibitionist propaganda talking points just cause you heard it on Discovery Channel,
Alexus095 1 year ago
@Alexus095 Yes, you are an an asshole and no, you have a nazi outlook on constructive debate. I love how you ignore my other three sources to try to strengthen your complete lack of an argument. I used to smoke weed heavily and I know from experience that it's addictive. I also heard from my brother that we have CB receptors just like opioid receptors, and this was first confirmed by a fucking Ivy League newspaper, and THEN the discovery channel. I didn't call you a Nazi, read slowly.
CK3890 1 year ago
@Alexus095 I don't call for just the legalization of marijuana, but all drugs. We need to take drugs out of the hands of gangbangers and criminals and put it in the hands of qualified pharmacists and doctors. My shoulds? I never told anyone else they should do drugs for a purpose, I just THINK we all should. So I am keeping to myself. Again, read more slowly. It's not prohibitionist propaganda you lunatic, it's a very well accepted scientific theory, and as accepted as the theory about opioids.

@shovelthumbs78 no, your bullshiting us i bet you've never even smoked weed before

@shovelthumbs78 u smoked bongs? u mean you took hits from a bong, see you don't even talk like a stoner
christianz2010 1 year ago
@christianz2010 I never said it's made me stupid. Do i have to talk like a dumb shit to be a stoner? I'm a real-estate agent, did you expect me to talk like a child and use hip words just because i smoke? Dumb cunts are dumb cunts - weed or no weed. When you have a family and others rely on you though, you'll understand what it does. Btw, if u smoke occasionally thats fine, good for u, but i can't do that- if i have weed i have to smoke all night. You are too quick to judge others friend
