  • God, Turkish music is so sexy. It makes me kind of hot listening to it~ XD

  • my natural rythm is 9 i'm serbian/italian/german/english/irish/french/unknown(turkish???)GASPS

  • The song "Lion in a Coma" by Animal Collective uses this timing.

  • It's difficult to solve this rhytm listening to darbuka because its very fast, contains 16th notes and extra triplets . There's a drum version here: freedrumlessons . com/drum-lessons/9-8-beats

It's not the same with this but it'll help you understand.

  • @HoLyGuN1907

    listen with your heart :D

thay say the turks heart beats in 9/8

    right!

    just let it go.

  • @HoLyGuN1907 The rhythm can be roughly divided into [4/8] + [5/8]. Try keeping count: 1,2,3,4; 1,2,3,4,5; Truly this is enchanting music.

  • HARIKA !

  • this is my natural rythm

  • The rock band Genesis has a song called "Suppers Ready"

There is a subsection of that song called "Apocalypse in 9/8" that uses this time signature.

That's the only example I can think of outside of middle eastern and Indian music.

  • @stuffedsonic

All of the balkanic music has many 9/8 reccurent time signatures.

Well i guess that's southern influence as well x)

  • Yeeaah the violin singer try to reproduce the sound of the "tulum" known also as bagpipe. And it`s played very good.

  • hi

    is it : 12 12 123 12 (9/8) ?

  • @roskar13

    No, it is 12 12 12 123 12 12 12 123

  • 12 12 12 123 12 12 12 123

this is known as "aksak ölçü" which can be translated as "crippled scale"... something special to turkish music and sometimes gets impossible for traditional european musicians to follow or play

  • @rondar2 Is nationality a prerequisite to learning a different style of music?
