But the stupid idea of disbanding the army came from the comics: after a long Jedi-Sith War, the politicians, and seemingly the citizens, wanted nothing to do with military stuff again and were happy to imagine that there would be no more need of it... lesson? being peaceful is good, being a deluded pacifist is giving up our country to the next big baddie xd

@AGTLI Same Republic. You had the Infinite Empire which fell apart. Then you had the Human rediscover hyperspace travel and the Galactic Republic (Old Republic) was born. Then you had the Jedi who formed independently of the Republic and started out as allies before actually joining up. Then you had the 1st Sith Empire formed by the Sith and Dark Jedi. Then you had the 2nd Sith Empire and the Chiss Confederacy that nobody ever heard of before even though it was as old as the Republic.

@SwordsmanMercenary It was a Phoenix before the spokes. The spoked wheel was adopted around the time of Episode I, most likely chosen by Palpatine and modeled after the insignia of the True Sith Empire.

@LiveArtsCoLtd- Your ideas are good ones, certainly. I much prefer the Republic of the KOTOR days over the Republic of the newer age. Things just seemed to work out a little better then. They were done proper. And unlike Skywalker, who is now reaching grandfather age or will be soon enough, people didn't just maintain their positions and never, ever be harmed or killed. No, I'll take the Old Republic over the new one.
