  • In a 2005 Honda civic you can find the code under the steering wheel by removing the plastic cover that says FUSE on it and the code will be in the back of that. It's just a sticker with a number.

  • Thank you! Have not checked this spot before.

  • hi i have a 2003 honda element and they told me not to desconect the battery cause it would desprogram the radio , the thing is that i accidently left the lights on and now it says that needs a code ? what can i do to meked work ? can u help me?

  • The video should answer all questions about retrieving the stereo code.

  • I have a 94 legend, the stereo works fine, but when i put in my cassette from one day to the other the volume is really low, I was able to fix it once (i dont quite know how) but one day again the volume on the cassette was lower than usual.

    any tips for this?

  • This could be a problem with the stereo. Or, the cassette head may just need cleaning. Try the cleaning first.

  • Thanks a ton, able to find audio code.

  • Thank you so much, it works ! Got my radio back on after battery going dead. Great video !

  • what bout if the radio have error code and don't enter any number?

  • Error code may be displayed for a couple of reasons. One, stereo work but will not play a CD, - display will show an error code. Two, sterero does not turn on, asking for code, incorrect code entered will give an error code. Check code against serial number of stereo. Code still does not enter, disconnect battery for a couple of minutes and restart.

  • do you have any idea were i could fine my 1997 acura tl code?

  • Please watch the video, if you need help retrieving the code, all info is mentioned.

  • After my battery went dead on my '06 TSX I was w/o radio.

Multiple calls to dealership "service" dept's did not result in the amount of help your 5 min video provided. I had my radio services restored in under a minute armed with your helpful info.

    Thanks big time.

  • Dude! I did it!! Thanks for the help Werewolf man! On the 95 Acura Legend Special Edition I found the Code in the trunk on a White sticker. Its ALWAYS gonna be a 5 digit code. Thanks again.

  • what if i put in a new after stock radio/stereo, would I still need a code

  • Just done this for my 02 civic. The battery got disconnected and required the radio to be reset, I had no radio code with the car, so I turned on ignition, pressed no1 and 6 together then turned on radio with both no's depressed, a code came up that I wrote down. Phoned a honda dealer service dept. Gave reg no and radio code that flashed up, and they supplied me with the pass code. Typed it in and, Voila... Radio is now working. Hope this helps someone.

  • Worked for me. Thank you. Appreciate you taking the time to do a video. :)

  • thank you so much

  • thanks, but everytime I plug something in power adaptor it blows the fuse. Why?

  • This could be a bad power adaptor. Or, if you are plugging the same device into the socket, there may be a short in the device blowing the fuse.

  • Thank you! my sister got a lemon and we had to disconnect the battery in order to fix it leading the the stereo problem. This video was all I needed to fix it for her. :)

  • i have a 1999 honda civic with an acura radio...how do i retrieve mine?

  • This one will require removing the stereo for the serial number and calling your local dealership for the code.

  • Thank you so much! I just replaced my car battery and faced this unexpected problem. My code sticker was in the glove box.

  • Thank you so much! My radio works again! YAY!

  • I plugged up a car charger into the power source and I think it knocked off the radio. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? I have my code. When I enter it nothing happens. Code does not flash when i turn car on.

  • This could be a blown fuse under the hook near the car's battery. Fuse may be labeled "Back Up".

  • Done! Battery died in 2004 Civic and code card was in the manual. Thank you very much!

  • thanks so much! very helpful!

  • thank you SO much

  • thank you...very helpful video

  • Thanks alot this video helped out a bunch keep up the good work. special THANKS Coming from Los Angeles California!!!!!

  • Thanks for your help. I found my code in the trunk under the back dash. This was for a 98 Honda accord. I'm sure glad I didn't have to pull the stereo to get serial # like Honda wanted me to do.

  • Wat do i do when a zero comes out in the codes?

  • You have the wrong stereo code for Honda and Acura. Audi, MBZ, Porsche and some Ford (Blaujunk) may need a zero.

  • um mine is locked up.. and wont let me have an option to bput the code back in, what do i do?

  • You will have to wait with the stereo on for 10 minutes to one hour. The stereo will return to "COdE". Incorrect code entered will lock the stereo up again. Check code card with serial number to stereo. If they match, this is a stereo problem.

  • Life saver video,i was missing my tunes. My glove box had the sticker with the code

  • Thanks so much that is exactly where the 5 digit code was inside the glove box. We really appreciated the help!

  • Thank you Kurt Rambis.

  • You can do the 1&6 + power process, then call Honda/Acura at 1-800-999-1009 to get the code. If the car is 2001 and older, you may have to pull out the radio to get the serial# if you can't find that sticker

    , then call.

  • This was all mentioned in the video, thank you.

  • Thank you Sir...it worked for me.

  • Thank you so much! Could not have done it without this video, tried to call the dealership and did not want to help me, they told me I had to go there in person, and they could fix it for me, but they will have to take the radio out. And of course did not mention a price, but I am sure it would have not been free. Now my radio works again, and my kids will be able to watch a movie on our next trip! Thanks a bunch!!

  • I LOVE YOU AND SO DOES MY WALLET!!!!!!

  • You just saved me $100. That is what the Honda dealer wanted to charge me for this. Thank you

  • Thank you so much!!! Life saver!!! I found it!!!!

  • awesome!! THANKS!! I love videos that are helpful and someone took the time to do for others. :)

  • Will the stereo do the same thing if it is replaced? (PS, how does this prevent theft?!?!)

  • Do you have the code for the stereo?

  • Thanks for the video. How do I punch in a zero? Appreciate your help!!!!! I need music!!!!!!

  • Sometimes the dealership may provide a code with a "0", it is the wrong code. No code for Acura or Honda will have a zero. Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche and VW's may have a zero in the code.

  • Much appreciated. This video helped me as well. One note, I found my serial number on the side of the glove compartment but because I had the radio replaced as part of a recall it didn't. The 1 + 6 preset thing worked and I was able to get the code by calling the dealership. Anyway, again thanks for the video.

  • I have the 5 digit code but my screen on my radio is blank with the red anti theft blinking i think someone locked it entering the code too much?

  • If the incorrect code was entered too many times, the display would say so. A blank display could be a blown fuse, there are two fuse boxes, one inside the vehicle the second under the hood near the battery. Check fuses, if this does not help, remove one of the battery terminals for a minute then reconnect. Try the correct code again.

  • one question i try to put codes by mistakes before watching this videom now it says err 3 on the screen , and i want to appear again code but i dont know how, help me pleaseee

  • You may have to wait 1 to 3 hours with the stereo on. Or, try disconnecting one of the main car battery terminals for a couple of minutes and reconnect. This too may bring it back to "COdE".

  • @boblizcou thank u bro i did what u told me and then i went with my radio to the honda dealership to find a code now i had my radio back on :D

  • this video helped me to find the code

  • Found the code. Thanks a bunch!

  • Thank you!!!

  • I CAN'T FIND SEVEN!!!!!!!!!

  • Seven of Nine?

  • thanxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Thanks Very Much, I got my code in the glove compartment. You are the best. Thanks again

  • Thanks, I've got music again. It worked.

  • Thanks

  • thankkkkkk you!!!!

  • thanks

  • We found a sticker with the radio serial number but it does not have any other numbers on it. 2001 Honda CR-V. Can any one help????

  • @pkmagee Try calling your local dealership, they can provide the stereo code with the serial number.

  • THANKS! I was having the hardest time locating my Stereo code and after I watched this video i checked for a sticker in my glove box. Needless to say, there it was! Thanks again!

  • Ok will be trying this tomorrow... you made a good video...thanks for the help....just hope I can find that sticker somewhere...

  • good video!!!

  • Thanks a lot. This video really helped.

  • Going to help someone I know who has the error message on a Honda Odyssey. Although the stereo doesn't look like this.

  • thank you this video was very helpful

  • Thank you! This video definitely saved me time and money!

I found the serial number by holding down the 1 and 6 buttons as you said and then rang the original dealer who told me the code within seconds!

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you! Thought I was going to have to go to the dealer for this. Luckily the code was stuck onto the glove compartment, just like you said.

  • hello, i need the code for a civic 1994!!! please.....help

  • I can provide codes, $25. Please give the shop a call at (407)830-0777. Or try your local dealership.

  • I have a 2003 honda accord. My radio locked after changing my battery. I have the code card that came with my car (w/original radio). Ive entered the code several times and keep getting error. Ive also removed the battery terminal to start over again to get "code" to display. What am I doing wrong? Are there additional buttons that I should be pushing once I enter the code?? Should the car be on with engine running, or in first position?? Confused. Pls advise.

  • The video goes through how to enter the code. If the code does not work, this could be for one of several reasons. You may have the wrong code, check the code against the serial number of the stereo. Or, the stereo is defective. If the stereo was working fine before disconnecting the battery, I'd guess you have the wrong code.

  • Thanks

Santa Clarita Honda dealer tried to send me to a stereo shop, thanks to your video 5 button pushes I'm back listening to tunes again.

    Ed

  • worked like a charm - more help than the useless manual

  • thanks...had been taking my car to the shop for this and the code was right there in the glove box....thx!!!

  • Thank you very much I located the radio code and it is working fine.....

  • How about when you put in the codes and error 3 appears on a 2004 accord

  • Several things... You may not have the original stereo, so any code card you may have could be incorrect. If the wrong code has been entered or entered incorrectly you can lock the stereo up, "error". Either remove one of the main battery terminals for several minuted then reconnect to reset the stereo. Or wait 1 - 3 hours with the stereo on to unlock on it's own.

  • anyone know where i can get the code for my Honda Accord 2007?

  • Your local dealership should be able to provide the code if you provide the serial number of the stereo.

  • GReat video! Mine was located in my glove compartment!

  • thank you so much~ my car's redio is working right now~this video is really valuable

  • This guy is dead on and the code on my Honda Odyssey was exactly where he said it was... on the inboard side of the glove box. Thx a ton dude, you saved me a trip to the dealer :)

  • Thank you so much for this valuable intructions!

  • I have a vauxhall corsa, but it is in safe mode which is the same as COdE mode. if i get the serial number from the back or side, should i use a paypal verified website to get my code or should i go straight to vauxhall and ask them??

    thanks

  • I don't know Vauxhall's policy. Many US car dealers will provide the code when asked. Other will have to verify all information before charging for the code. Good luck.

  • Safe in the display means the wrong code has been entered too many times. This may take one to three hours with the stereo on to come back to code mode. I'd suggest contacting the dealership first. In many case they do not charge.

  • it was too late when i saw this video,, i did put codes too many times.. and now,, i got error in my stereo,, now I'm planning to replace it but i was thinking if.. is there any solution to fix this problem, ? so by changing my car stereo,,it'll never gonna ask the code and the error will no longer appear again? ..

  • Leaving the stereo on for one to three hours or disconnecting the car's battery and reconnecting may bring it back to COdE in the display. This will allow your several more attempts to input the code.

  • hey thanks very helpfull

  • thanks for everything, i changed it, to much problem with that old radio, i got a new one

  • Thank you so much. Found the sticker with serial number and code under the drivers side dash. Great video. Thanks!

  • Thank you for the help!! I changed the battery for the first time on a car that I was not the original owner of and did not have the code until I found it right outside of the glove compartment like you suggested in your video. Thanks so much!

  • yes i did, but the code doesn't work and now im getting error, i dont know what happened, maybe that's why the code is not working. how can i get the message code 1 back to try again.

  • Error means the wrong code is being put into the stereo too many times. Has the stereo ever been replaced? You should know this if you are the original owner of the vehicle. Otherwise, the stereo may have been replaced at one time and the code was not updated in the vehicle.

  • i need the code for a Honda civic 2000, i removed the battery and i did not this thing gonna happen.

  • Did you watch the video?

  • Does holding 1 & 6 only work when the radio has been disabled?

I bought a 2002 Honda CR-V, and the owner's manual, radio code, and important stuff like that didn't come with it. I tried to do it preemptively today and even pulled the backup fuse out a couple times, but can't get the radio to say COdE. It'd be nice to have it before I need to replace the battery.

  • This process does not work for all Honda/Acura stereos. The stereo must display code for a chance of this process working.

  • Thx a lot Man it works now

  • What if you buy an OEM radio from an individual or a pick n pull???

  • You need to see your local dealership.

  • You saved my weekend & my sanity! I bought a used 2006 Honda Pilot in September 2009, I just had BestBuy install an XM radio FM Modulator & hide all the wires, & of course after all the work & removal the radio would not operate without the radio code which I never received. Thank you so much!! I just went out & started my Pilot, entered the code & I got my R&B, meditation SPA & mellow out XM rocking in my ride thanks ONLY to YO, YOU ARE the BEST!

  • Good video. Helped a lot.
