I'm probably going to get my comment shot down, but Sarah is absolutely wonderful. Her voice is unbelievably pure. Emmy irritates me, and it doesn't help that the pitch was modified. However Tarja absolutely infuriates me. Like when Amy Lee covered Sally's Song; mediocre metal singers who seem absolutely dreadful when compared to talented singers from musicals do covers which makes their versions popular with metal heads. Yes, I am a theatre geek. But at least I know talent when I see it.

I think they are all very different. Emmy's vocal seems more pop-style than opera. Which is fine, its just difficult to compare to operatic vocals. Its very nice in its own right.

Tarja's version is personally my favorite. That's probably b/c i'm partial to metal :) There's a reason why she's Finland's leading opera singer AND one of the most popular female symphonic metal singers. However, I love Sarah's version, too, since the song was written by her. Emmy's good, but not my favorite. You can tell they had to lower the notes slightly for her since NO ONE can sing as high as Sarah. she did a great job for being only 16 though!
Firstly, Tarja is a purists soprano and hits the correct notes or what is known as pitch perfect. Sarah is more pop soprano, the reason she can go higher in the note range is because she is overpitched.
On this one, I'm just going to have to say I prefer firstly, Sarah's classical take on this song. But I also admire Emmy's comtemporary and emotional, artistic approach. It's gorgeous, both ways. As for Tarja... well, metal bands really ought to stick to metal, if that's what they're good at. I agree, she has a powerful voice, but I don't think it's honestly meant for this sort of literature.

From My opinion Sarah Brightman Tops them all, She the original, and will always be the best. This is her song. I Believe that if you heard Sarah in the live in Vienna you would like her voice even more now that she's been singing forever. I think the longer she sings and the older gets she sounds better.
Emmy's voice is much prettier, how Christine's is described to be, and she acts through her voice. An emotion for every word is heard, just through her voice.
Nightwish's version is not sung as part of the play, it's part of the album Century child, and is a wonderful song in that sense.

Well to use this song as a comparision, and this Video, Sarah is the Soprano, Tarja had to drop to lower notes on the second verse. Where Sarah and Emma did not. Sarah is the orginal, and the Hottest also. Now if your really wnat to compare Sarah with somone, Try Christina Agullareia, and Celene Dion.

When Nightwish did this song for their final tour for End of An Era, it was metal, and awesome, and amazing, but this version of the cover sucks. Now, my favorite Christine would have to be Emmy Rossum. Sarah's vibrato really bothers me.... But my favorite version of the song is Nightwish's. Now I want to listen to it...

Sarah Brightman has 3 versions of this song, one with Michael Crawford, then Steve Harley and finally Chris Thompson. She is the original Christine, and in her last version she shows some amazing high notes, no one can be better than her in this song. Tarja sings well, but not for The Phantom of the Opera, even if its a cover, Sarah's last version is kind on rock, and is much better than the one of Nightwish. Long live Sarah Brightman!

Exactly Tarja as a true lyrical soprano, she can hit the correct hight and low notes in true pitch perfect. in other way Sarah can sing more hight in this way 'cause she used the whistle and pop voice for sing high way.

Definitivamente Sarah, tiene mejores agudos que Tarja, me molesta que Tarja use demasiado vibrato para sacar los agudos. Además e rango vocal de Sarah es mayor que el de Tarja, amen de que tarja tiene mejores graves.
Emmy ha demostrado tener buena garra pero desgraciadamente le falta preparación.
Me encantan los arreglos que hace Tarja pero me quedo con la original jeje :-)

Tarja's version is personally my favorite. That's probably b/c i'm partial to metal :) There's a reason why she's Finland's leading opera singer AND one of the most popular female symphonic metal singers. However, I love Sarah's version, too, since the song was written by her. Emmy's good, but not my favorite. You can tell they had to lower the notes slightly for her since NO ONE can sing as high as Sarah. she did a great job for being only 16 though!

Firstly, Tarja is a purists soprano and hits the correct notes or what is known as pitch perfect. Sarah is more pop soprano, the reason she can go higher in the note range is because she is overpitched.

On this one, I'm just going to have to say I prefer firstly, Sarah's classical take on this song. But I also admire Emmy's comtemporary and emotional, artistic approach. It's gorgeous, both ways. As for Tarja... well, metal bands really ought to stick to metal, if that's what they're good at. I agree, she has a powerful voice, but I don't think it's honestly meant for this sort of literature.

From My opinion Sarah Brightman Tops them all, She the original, and will always be the best. This is her song. I Believe that if you heard Sarah in the live in Vienna you would like her voice even more now that she's been singing forever. I think the longer she sings and the older gets she sounds better.

Emmy's voice is much prettier, how Christine's is described to be, and she acts through her voice. An emotion for every word is heard, just through her voice.
Nightwish's version is not sung as part of the play, it's part of the album Century child, and is a wonderful song in that sense.
Sarah Brightman is a wonderful singer, but she is not Christine.

I like Emmy. Heart-felt singing, great vocal, powerful, young, contemporary. Sarahs singing, though perhaps more trained, sounds shallow and empty. Tarjas too much rock, too dark.

i'm sorry...but i just can't stand emmy's voice. she's too light for my taste and pretty weak. i used to like her, but when i heard tarja's and sarah's version, it just became clear that she needed more time to develop before she sang this. i prefer the darker tones like tarja's voice. sarah is pretty good. she does it well too. but i love tarja's voice ^^

None of them are opera singers. OK maybe Tarja, I don't know too much about her. Emmy and Sarah are pop singers. Though Sarah can pull of more operatic stuff. Emmy however... 5 years in A CHILDREN'S CHORUS does not equal and opera singer.

Tarja is somehow a little low for the fact that she is a soprano, she sounds almost like a mezzo soprano at times.
Emmy's voice is too weak for my taste.

1.Sarah (just enough power, very clean, and beautiful high pitches)
2.Tarja (because it still isn't as clean as Sarah's and her high pitches are not as impeccable or as sweet sounding as Sarah's...but does have a powerful voice)
3.Emmy (doesn't have a poweful enough voice even though her high pitches are pretty clean..I think you would only pick her as number one if you like Karen Carpenter's melancholy music..not enough power except for the high pitches

Tarja and Sarah are both very good, they put feeling on it, their perform is very good..
Personally I like more Tarja's, despite Sarah's good perform, i think that Tarja has more potential for this song than Sarah even when the song was re-composed for her..

I'm sorry to say that, but you just can't compare a worldwide known singer who's been on the stage for decades and who's already built an unbeatable name and reputation with either Tarja, whos voice I personally like better, or Emmy, who's not even a singer. Of course I'm not offended, we all have our opinions. I just think I didn't make myself too clear :) .I personally prefer something about each of these singers, for example, I like Tarja's tonal quality, I like Emmy's purity and child-like innocence of the voice, and I like Sarah's sensuality, expresiveness and fluidity. I'm just saying that Emmy is NOT a singer. She is a singing actress, therefore, despite her native talent, she's not a pro. Tarja is one, but I'm talking about NAMES and history
