  • Aaaaaaand that's why you need the no stirrups practice! Love the pony by the way!

  • @rhapsodyno9 Haha oh yes, nothing more conducive to survival than a strong leg (and an awesome pony)!!! Thanks!

  • are you using a hackamore? i can't see too well

  • Dang!!!! I couldn't got my stirupps back and stayed on i don't think!! i would have cirlced to get my stirupps back or just fell off(not to be negative that's just me ) How did u place in hte end?? Good Job!!!!

  • @18showjumper Thanks. We didn't end up with anything.

  • @supershorty628 awww. i'm sorry at least u did the best u could!! U're a very brave rider and got a great horse u're very lucky to have a horse like her!!

  • @graciehorse Haha thanks, we didn't get anything.

  • Thats a good horse.

  • @MISSYxxP Hahaha thanks.

  • You're so good!

  • @xo0Hannah0ox Thanks.

  • what kind of bit is that??? or is it a hackamore?

  • @PonyPerson28120 It's a mechanical hackamore.

  • wow your horse is an absolute SAINT!

  • @hunterjmpr113 In this instance, yes.

    Generally, no. ;)

  • Not only would i have fallen off at the triple, i would have stopped and gotten my stirrup xD MAJOR props to you for continuing with your course!!!

  • @bluefoxstudio13 Haha thanks! It honestly didn't occur to me to stop... might have been a good idea since I didn't have either stirrup until we made the turn after that line and then I only had one... felt interesting =p

  • @supershorty628 no problem ;) i find it amazing how you lost both and ended up with one! pretty good ;)

  • @bluefoxstudio13 Yeah, I don't really know why I was having issues getting the right one back... I got it in the air over the last jump. Weird.

  • That's an amazing mare you've got there. :) Great job at going on perfectly, I totally would not have pulled that off..

  • @DejaVu141 Thanks, she is the best!

  • Oh my gosh I read that article about you in Practical Horseman! You are such a good rider, I love Nikki! She's a beaut, reminds me of a mare I used to ride :)

    Great jobb!

  • @Hunterjumper195 Thank you =]

  • great job staying on! great course(:

  • @hunterjumper313 Thanks =]

  • my horse TOTALLY wouldnt have jumped that. nice work! awesome horse! :)

  • @csinut08 Haha yesss she did!!!

  • OM GOSH you did amazing is your horse for sale by any chance lol

  • @horseluver4312 Nope, never ;-)

  • do u ride her in a hackamore

  • @dreamershavemorefun No, she goes in a mechanical hackamore, which has a bit.

  • yikes!!! that looked painful! you're so lucky to have a horse like that! were you okay? that was an AMAZING save!!! btw how high r these fences, and what r the heights in high juniors?

  • @96horseluvr We were both okay... these are 4', the highs are 4'7''.

  • @supershorty628 thats good!!! that looked painful...and thanks!

  • holy smokkkess! YOu'er AMAZING. Best save ever.

  • @JumpForLife413 Haha, thanks, it's really Nikki who is amazing though! If she hadn't jumped out of the combination, I would have had a jump for lunch... and needed some new teeth/a new face.

  • hahaha perhaps:P But most riders would have fallen landing off the first jump. Especially at that size. But you made it back, over a second jump, down again, and back up in time to make oxer. You're BOTH amazing!

  • @JumpForLife413 Thank you =]

  • Your horse seems to have a heart of gold = )

    good job staying on too!

  • Haha she does most of the time! Thanks!

  • Wow that was such a good save! I love your horse

  • Thanks, she is the best!!

  • dang you are sure lucky you got her! haha my horse would have freaked out and ditched me lol

  • Wow, your horse is an angel! My horse would of totally dumped me XD. I can't believe she jumped that! Haha, great riding too :)

  • GREAT recovery! My nerves would have been all over the place after something like that, haha. You look wonderful over fences, you just seem to flow with your horses jump, very beautiful to watch you jump a fence. And I love your horse, she seems like a great partner to work with!

  • Thank you, she is the best!!

  • great round! how high is low junior jumpers?

  • Thanks. The lows vary from show to show, but this class was 1.20m.

  • Okay, I should clarify before everyone jumps on me for snapping at you. OBVIOUSLY my horse is a big reason that I am where I am, she's amazing, but insinuating that I would not otherwise have gotten here is rude and insulting. She is not an easy horse to ride, you can ask anyone, and our bond is extraordinary.

Second of all, there was a distance there that I asked for, which I saw, which my trainer saw, and which Nikki saw. Whether you saw it or not is not my concern; it was there.

  • That was a very classy and tasetful reply to that very ignorant comment. You did a fabulous job. You and your horse keep up the good work!

  • Thanks. =]

  • wow that was a great recovery!!!! nice round

However iiii think that it wasnt ONLY what you said your horse did in the description....but u left her no distance and didn't ask to add it or leave it out which everyone does, but its usually a miss not sitting there to crash in the lows. Your horse is an ABSOLUTE SLAVE FOR YOU. Not only inthe one stride, but i hope you know that (i think) shes one of the big reasons that got u where u r, but great riding!!!!

  • @got2jumpBIG

Wow. First off I would like to know how you could see the cue Emily did or did not give the horse from the distance of the camera? As you can see in all her videos her equitation is exceptional. In fact McLain Ward describes her position as an example to everyone. Therefore, I highly doubt you would see the cue even if you were closer. Also, the gazebo blocks your view during part of the mishap.

  • @got2jumpBIG Secondly, I would like to agree with you that Nikki is an amazing horse. In fact I plan on stealing her one day. Thirdly, any rider would applaud Emily on her riding through the in and out. Everyone makes mistakes (horse or rider error) and things happen. It is how you deal with those situations that make you a great rider. Emily kept her head, and kept right on course as if nothing happened, which also kept her horse from thinking anything of it as well.

  • @got2jumpBIG And lastly Emily is an extraordinary rider. She is extremely dedicated and hard working. If you browse her YouTube and Webshots accounts you will see she has had years and years of success on many ponies and horses, greenies and non. She is also currently the Zone leader in ISHA

  • @got2jumpBIG and recently represented the USA in Ecuador where she won the junior jumper team championship (all of this is done on different horses). So while her and Nikki have done extremely well together, I have no doubt that she would be just as far as she is now with another horse. Oh and p.s. she now does the high jumpers ;)

  • Holy smokes, easy there. Thanks for the kindness!

Let me put it this way: this video is an example of the phrase "Shit happens." It is from a while ago, it probably will always be controversial, and that's the end.

Everyone please breathe now. Thank you!!

  • @supershorty628

Oh wow i did not know that, so good for you!!!!!!!!!

  • ur horse is ahmazing but u did good to for staying on! and continuing!

  • Thanks. I only stayed on because she put her head up! I'm glad that she's so smart!

  • Wow, your lower leg is awesomely solid! Great riding!

  • Thank you =]

  • someone is an olympian gold medalist haha,, ur an amazing jumper.. that horse has immense potential! 5/5 and ur bond is amazing too

  • Aw, thanks! Nikki is the best =]. I'm so lucky to have her.

  • wow that was awesome! you recovered so quickly! most other riders would of ate shit! great jobbb

  • Thanks, haha, I was lucky she put her head up!!!

  • Yeah i found your videos today while i was lookign for jumpers for sale. You are an amazing rider, i want to be doing this high of jumpers somtime in the near future when i find the right horse(: for now i am just doing the lower jumpers. props to you, im totally subbing!

  • Aw, thank you! (Sorry, I just found your comment - I never got the e-mail notification for some reason)

    Good luck with your search!

  • low juniors is the same as low junior/amateurs right?

  • Yeah, I'm just lazy and never put the /amateur-owner part at the end... all my videos from the highs should have that too, haha.

  • o haha ok so do u no how high the high juniors are.

  • The vast majority of shows have them at 1.40m, which is 4'7''.

  • how high is low juniours

  • 4'.

  • wow... good job staying on.. just wondering.. wat type of bit do you use?

  • Thanks. Nikki goes in a hackabit - hers has a straight rubber mouthpiece that is very soft and flexible. At the time this video was taken, it also had a spur strap under her chin to work like a curb chain, but it rubbed her a little, so we had put some fleece over it.

  • What are the fence heights?

  • 4'.

  • Nice round and jump off!! i never really liked this stuff until i worked there... btw im in the video lol... 0:09 and 2:23, comming back to saugerties??

  • Thanks, yeah, I'm coming back for week 7 at the end of this month. Will you be there?

  • Ya, I will be there.. I dont know if ill be on GP, Hunter, or Jumper rings though..

  • I love the announcer at the end :) Wonderful mare, it's obvious she trusts you and those moments happen! Good job staying on and awesome recovery!

  • Thanks!

Sorry I didn't respond to this sooner; for some reason, I never got an e-mail telling me you had commented. =\

  • Don't Take This The Wrong Way, But You Were Far From Balanced Darlin! You Have A Great Horse Who Knows Her Way Around A Course And Does Her Job...That's A Good Thing! :) It's Not Horse/Rider ESP- Its Good Training! Good Job Staying On. Your Horse Has A LOT Of Scope!

  • By somewhat balanced, I meant centered, which I was... had I been leaning to either side, I would have been gone regardless of what she did. She is a wonderful girl.

  • Don't Take This The Wrong Way, But It Is Ridiculous To Capitalize The First Letter Of Every Word In A Sentence

  • wow...who cares? let her write how she wants- it doesn't effect you!

  • *A*ffect, darling.

    *A*ffect.

  • fyi-i recently broke both of my hands during an unfortunate horse rescue. this makes typing correctly very hard. i have a program on my computer that is supposed to capitalize letters in the right places, but often it just capitalizes the first letter of each word. SO sorry to inconvenience your eyes!

maybe next time you will think before making comments that are so completely irrelevant and juvenile.

nit-picking people's spelling and punctuation? come on! grow up!

  • "Don't take this the wrong way" but I felt that one irrelevant and juvenile comment warranted another.

Nit picking people's riding on the internet? come on! grow up!

Interesting to see that your hands appear to be fixed now.

  • Can we stop arguing about this on my video, please? Thanks.

  • ha! definitely still broken-i shut the program off since it was apparently an issue for you. talk about nit picking! yikes! you should go back and read my original post, i said a lot of nice things about her horse & riding. how was my comment juvenile? bc i said she unbalanced? i was not trying to start an argument- especially over something as ridiculous as my punctutation. have you ever tried to type with casts on both of your hands? probably not. so how about you ease up?

  • Read the comment directly above your latest one.

Meanwhile I fail to understand how you can hit every key on the keyboard but not strategically the shift key (which you nevertheless manage to strategically deploy for your exclamation points and your question marks). Real believable.

  • ok...so you obviously read her comment-and then decided to keep up with your antics?

and for the record-it makes no difference to me if you believe me or not. it is what it is. im glad you're putting your cornell law school degree to good use by continuously attempting to discredit me via youtube. good job!

    just let it go.

  • Interestingly, I am not getting e-mails about either of your comments... maybe YouTube realizes that I asked you both to stop?

You've managed to go for a week without more of this, so I'm very proud of both of you. Keep up the good work.

I hope your hands heal quickly and well! =]

  • well thanks for the kind words....

but, keep up the good work? really!? hahaha. good one.

  • wow this horse is a packer! not many horses would have jumped those jumps with a rider laying on their neck the way you were after she tripped--incredible. thats scary, good thing you stayed on!

  • I wouldn't call her a packer - she's a very good girl, but really only for me... haha. She's just very, very smart, and I was on her neck but still somewhat balanced. I think she knew that if she kept going, I'd get back in the saddle. We know each other and work together very well. =]

  • you guys are an awesome pair! great save !!! both of you!

  • Thank you =]

  • wow, amazing recovery!! what a cute horse you have!

  • Thank you =]

  • that is an amazing recovery on both of your parts- she got right back into her rhythm for the fence after the in-and-out, and how you stayed on is beyond me. GREAT job to you both :-)

  • Thank you!

  • nice!! i luv the horse! you guys look great together!

  • Thanks!

  • I have to say what am impecable ride! Your seat is something to be desired, you are very solid, and your legs are just as secure!! Great job saying on during the 3 jump combo - you both make an exceptional pair! Job well done!

  • Thank you!! =]

  • You two are an awesome pair! And your horse is gorgeous!

  • lovely. I love how she comes out of the first round going along so nice and forward, then comes so nicely and quietly into that halt and backs up like you were on a trail ride a minute before!

  • Thank you. She is very used to the halt and back routine...on days where she is a little on the fresh side, it is not so smooth and pretty, haha!

  • haha thats okay I know the feeling

  • haha veryyy nice in staying on but u have an awesome horse for her/him not to bail for the next jump

  • hsaha you have a really good horse

  • what an impressive ride

  • hahahahahahha i love the announcer

"well done for staying on emily"

    you are my idol.

  • Its easy to see how you stayed on...

You have a great seat and more importantly you have an amazingly bold and honest horse under you.

If I were you I would never let that horse go, she did not miss a beat.

  • Good riding and lucky you to have such a brave mare!

  • Good for you for staying on, but I think your mare deserves the props here! Laying on her neck like that, any other horse woulda bailed on jumping the next fence. But not only did she jump it carefully she also continued through the end of the combination. What a saint!

  • very impressive. You and your horse are awesome together. Good job!

  • hahahahahahahaha Love that horsey!!! Love the announcer and your mom's snicker!!

  • amazing riding :)

    you have a great eye

    subbed! check out my vids

  • Amazing! You are a very talented rider and have a very talented horse!

  • No need to laugh, that was a really good save. And you had a great ride as well. You guys look like quite the duo.

  • i love it lol well done staying on lol good job

  • Wow! You are an awesome rider to be able to save that!! Your horse is so cute too!

  • omg that was an awsome save!!! and haha i love the announcer afterwards

  • WOW! that was amazing

  • that ws skills right there though

  • it wasnt funny actully...kinda frightning

  • wow! is that at thermal hits or is it a diffrent hits. i herd thermal was a ghost town this year.

  • It is HITS Saugerties...

  • WOW that was an awesome save..i would've died

  • woah nice save! You and her are sooooooooo amazing together! How high are those?

  • Thank you =]. They are supposed to be 4', but it was really soft.

  • omg u deserve some kind of award for that save!! haha

  • Wow! What an awesome save!!

  • I would love to know your mare's breeding - what a great effort by both of you! Well done. :)

  • I would love to know too! All I know is that she's a Thoroughbred, but she bowed a tendon on the track and was sold without papers prior to racing (so no tattoo). Thanks!

  • AWESOME job staying on and finishing the round!

  • OMGOOMMGG i i give you MAJORRR props !!! wooww you stayed on.. got the one and continues on without stirrups !!!!! okay really

  • Thanks everyone =]

  • great save lol

  • what an honest jumper!!! great riding :)

  • Thanks guys! I gave the announcer a thumbs up, but it's not really clear on the video. Nikki was INCREDIBLE (she even put her head up to save me after the in and out!)!!

  • You two looked AMAZING jumping! so much improvement!!!! As for when she tripped, GREAT save!!! That mare just kept going, and you stayed with. I love how once you regained your balance you just kept going, that was tough ride but good sportsmanship on your part.

    Love watching your vids. :)

  • haha i love wut the announcer says that was so funny. amazing recovery!

  • you are my hero emily pope!! love the announcer at the end haha
