Paul Hughes filmed the entire scene spontaneously and without telling anyone anyone involved with the parade that there was a dance scene about to happen. He snuck the float Ferris is on into the parade and had them break out into song to the surprise of the Chicago attendees, parade members and the governor. One of the greatest scenes of all time and it was mostly improvised on the spot
