why are people trying to say which game is better, street fighter or blazblue? how about u all be true fighting game fans and try to explore all them, because all of the big titles are good. i myself own marvel vs capcom 2 and 3, super street fighter 4, guilty gear xx, blazblue, street fighter III: third strike, umk3, and mortal kombat. by this i mean... I love Blazblue because of it's totally unique characters, there's no clones, rehashes or anything like that. It's much easier to learn, i remember trying Street fighter 2 and I took forever to learn the moves and everything and I had a hard time doing any of the moves; in Blazblue, the specials are much more simple to execute. That's all I have to say. I'm not saying street fighter is bad, in fact, I'm pretty sure it's an awesome game. I'm just saying, Blazblue is better.

Its depends for me. one these game came out. I had to think which one is better. I like both games but I go with BBCT. Because its a brand new experience for me that I never seen before. When SSF4 and BBCS came out. I think SSF4 was better. Is it weird or is it natural?
I can say as a fighter fan that's been playing SF since the first game was released that BlazBlue is simply a more definitive and entertaining fighter. The visuals are great and all but that doesn't make a good fighter. The complexity of the system along with the devotion to combo memorization and creation make this much better than SF would hope to be. Not saying that SF is bad at all, simply that BlazBlue is better.
In a stading training dummy Is not hard do this. But in a real fight with fast jumps, dashs, air dashs, blocks, counters and throw counters ground recover and air recover, it's impossible. This game is about thinking extremely fast, not combos. I'd say that Tekken is a good game to try combos, cuz once u started the juggle, nothing can stop it.

It only covers the basic fighter strategies with just enough sizzle (focus moves really?) to make it seem like it's a totally acceptable and unique fighting game. @Bigfellr If you go to practice mode, you can set it where you make the CPU recover automatically when a move doesn't combo. I use to think I found an infinite with everybody until I learned about it, and they were pathetic infinites.

@gohpenghng Well you also need 100 heat to activate mugen and you have to get a hit in fast or else mugen will run out and you can't do the combo. Basically your opponent needs to be a training dummy for that one to work :/
@towelie893 I think I saw one time how it can work in a normal match. Basicly predict the oponent attacking while he is in the corner and counter with Zanshin and use then use his drive. After Zanshin they spin around in hitstun and its 100% combo after that wich as seen in the movie is a full hp combo and thus a win.
It gives you unlimited use of your Magatama, so long as you activate the move when you have all eight before hand. When you activate it, you have infinite magatama until the bar goes all the way down at an accelerated rate.

i wonder how many people you beat per day in street fighter? this game is not easy like Guilty gear series obviously you only challenge players that posses 1 victory 10 loses, if you play on PS3 which is the console for fighting games tell me you PSn id and lets see if it is really easy.

you will at first but you'll eventually get used to it if you keep playing. Also it seems that in the new game Continuum Shift is going to be even more unbalanced than this one. but it still looks like it will be an addictily fun game so I'm getting it as well.

If there's anything I haven't seen anyone of these people mention, its that Aksys did a splendid (and no doubt tedious) job making sure that every single character was capable in every way, shape and form, of decimating there opponents. As mentioned in previous comments, the tiers have very little meaning, as the skill and intuition of the players count the most in ANY fighting game.
This Combo vid is a perfect example of this. Those who only played BB for a few weeks have a lot to learn.

Not necessarily. I mean, high level players have many options to defeat Nu, they just have to think, even with Tager. He has quite a few attacks that are good for getting past projectiles. If he gets past Nu's projectiles, I assure you that Nu will get fucked up herself.

Disagree. Tier is a matter of fact. This is built within the mechanics of the game, which means that certain characters are made better than others (this is a fact in any fighting game). Measuring mechanics = recovery rates, versatility, and (but not limited to) the most important thing: PRIORITY. Smash Bros. is my best example where one with Skill value X playing another with skill value X, where it's Ike vs. Marth, Marth wins 100% of the time. Tiers are in games for a reason. It makes them fun
yeah some games have different types on what tiers there listed only on match ups like v 13 she has really good match ups against every character in the game
I understand your point Kijiyama. Smash Bros is considered "party" > "fighting". It just so happens that it can be played competitively and legitimate tournaments can be hosted for it (thus, the care to analyze character tiers).

To those who have disagreed with me (the thumbs down), observe what happens when a Metaknight fights against a Captain Falcon (with both players having exactly the same skill level, all else remaining constant). The Metaknight will forever win. Like I said about how "tiers are in games for a reason. It makes them fun" this meaning, that it's VERY entertaining to see one with Skill Value X40 using a bottom character to fight against a top tier character (Skill value only X1)
the problem with making the crimson(gurren) cost nothing is that the attack wall bounces the opponent which in terms come to an infinite combo though prorating will not let it kill them the opponent has enough health it will still make it broken if it does not lose the wall bounce property which I personally like very much.
Most of these combos will not work when playing against someone who has a bit of experience... yes the combos look cool. but not practical cause its a training dummy. it does nothing. a lot of these combos can be stopped by the 3rd or 4th hit with an arial recovery.
These combos will all work on anyone, regardless of experience. Look at the combo counter, so long as it remains bright red, it's a true, untechable combo.
There are some character specific combos, but they are legit.
Carl has the smallest hit box and stuff that will work on most characters will miss on Carl. Rachel's is almost as small, but she is 'floaty', making her eat more hits then usual. Jin is just weird, some stuff misses him and sometimes he gets hit by more stuff then even Tager others. Tager is huge and floaty, making him the easiest to combo in the game. Next 2 biggest are Hakumen and then Ragna. They work, but not on everyone.
Arakune is so scary and disturbing and nightmarish.....and that is why i like him! or is is a her? idk...i only played the game once so i wouldn't know.. it probably really obvious xD Arakune still awesome eather way :P

Well if you havent played it that its easy to mistake it for a GG clone. The fighting is much slower than GG and there are are more tactics that seprate it from being a GG clone. And its similar because developers have their own style. Definatly not a ripoff.
I see, you may have a point there, but its still too similiar to GG from the way it looks and the gameplay. I don't think its that much slower than GG to make a huge difference.
They are japanese symbols. Im 90% certain they're something like "strong" medium" weak" since Im seeing them repeat along with his combo's. I really dont have time to look them up.
I hope you're joking, or you've obviously never really played BlazBlue much. The only places that I see that you could actually tech out are during the throws. I've only watched through the Taokaka part, though. Even the combo that Taokaka takes like 85% of Jin's health can't be stopped without bursting, although it does take 100 heat and it seems like it only works in the corner.

i wonder how many people you beat per day in street fighter? this game is not easy like Guilty gear series obviously you only challenge players that posses 1 victory 10 loses, if you play on PS3 which is the console for fighting games tell me you PSn id and lets see if it is really easy.

think I'll wait on buying this one, seems like it still needs development. Like the Guilty Gear games each new part will probably be better than the last so I will wait for that next part to come. a question though, is this game playable on 360? I got street fighter 4 for 360 n the controller is far from ideal for playing it. Will I have this same problem likely when playing BlazBlue?

you will at first but you'll eventually get used to it if you keep playing. Also it seems that in the new game Continuum Shift is going to be even more unbalanced than this one. but it still looks like it will be an addictily fun game so I'm getting it as well.

think I'ma try it out on psp first n then see if I like it enough to buy. another guy said that the 360 controller isn't as good because there's more lag between the controller and the console but my main problem is the d-pad, n I can't rly play well with analog.

If there's anything I haven't seen anyone of these people mention, its that Aksys did a splendid (and no doubt tedious) job making sure that every single character was capable in every way, shape and form, of decimating there opponents. As mentioned in previous comments, the tiers have very little meaning, as the skill and intuition of the players count the most in ANY fighting game.
This Combo vid is a perfect example of this. Those who only played BB for a few weeks have a lot to learn.

This reply here is grand epic win! This is one of the main reasons why people like you reassure me to stay on top of my fighting game spirit! I have only been playing Blazblue quite a while and I am just trying to get over the anxiety of competing in this game. But I have to say I am learning quite well with Hakumen and Litchi. And agreed on this game being VERY good!

Mainly because unless he's got Infinity and a full meter going, his combos stop at about 4k damage.
When both of the above conditions are met though, he has the possibility of 100% combo.
Also, he has a crap mobility and a lot of his C moves have pretty slow recovery.

Uh... I think his forward C where he sweeps the sword up can work as an anti-air, but he does have poor mix ups. Plus, as Rachel I can pretty much throw Lobelia at him all day.

Not necessarily. I mean, high level players have many options to defeat Nu, they just have to think, even with Tager. He has quite a few attacks that are good for getting past projectiles. If he gets past Nu's projectiles, I assure you that Nu will get fucked up herself.

Disagree. Tier is a matter of fact. This is built within the mechanics of the game, which means that certain characters are made better than others (this is a fact in any fighting game). Measuring mechanics = recovery rates, versatility, and (but not limited to) the most important thing: PRIORITY. Smash Bros. is my best example where one with Skill value X playing another with skill value X, where it's Ike vs. Marth, Marth wins 100% of the time. Tiers are in games for a reason. It makes them fun

I understand your point Kijiyama. Smash Bros is considered "party" > "fighting". It just so happens that it can be played competitively and legitimate tournaments can be hosted for it (thus, the care to analyze character tiers).

To those who have disagreed with me (the thumbs down), observe what happens when a Metaknight fights against a Captain Falcon (with both players having exactly the same skill level, all else remaining constant). The Metaknight will forever win. Like I said about how "tiers are in games for a reason. It makes them fun" this meaning, that it's VERY entertaining to see one with Skill Value X40 using a bottom character to fight against a top tier character (Skill value only X1)

I made some suggestions to make Hakumen at least B- Tier:
Replace his counters with actual attacks
(Including Drives).
Increase his attack speed (a little).
Give him a run.
Make some of his attacks cost no magatama (Gurren and Kishuu).

the problem with making the crimson(gurren) cost nothing is that the attack wall bounces the opponent which in terms come to an infinite combo though prorating will not let it kill them the opponent has enough health it will still make it broken if it does not lose the wall bounce property which I personally like very much.

Most of these combos will not work when playing against someone who has a bit of experience... yes the combos look cool. but not practical cause its a training dummy. it does nothing. a lot of these combos can be stopped by the 3rd or 4th hit with an arial recovery.

These combos will all work on anyone, regardless of experience. Look at the combo counter, so long as it remains bright red, it's a true, untechable combo.

There are some character specific combos, but they are legit.
Carl has the smallest hit box and stuff that will work on most characters will miss on Carl. Rachel's is almost as small, but she is 'floaty', making her eat more hits then usual. Jin is just weird, some stuff misses him and sometimes he gets hit by more stuff then even Tager others. Tager is huge and floaty, making him the easiest to combo in the game. Next 2 biggest are Hakumen and then Ragna. They work, but not on everyone.

Well if you havent played it that its easy to mistake it for a GG clone. The fighting is much slower than GG and there are are more tactics that seprate it from being a GG clone. And its similar because developers have their own style. Definatly not a ripoff.

I hope you're joking, or you've obviously never really played BlazBlue much. The only places that I see that you could actually tech out are during the throws. I've only watched through the Taokaka part, though. Even the combo that Taokaka takes like 85% of Jin's health can't be stopped without bursting, although it does take 100 heat and it seems like it only works in the corner.

Yeah some of combos should've said non gauranteed on them because Tager second combo works only crouching opponents. I when in training mode myself and did some iller combo than what Tager show and soon as i tried them online just like GG Motherfuckers teched right out of them shits lol!

It's still possible to combo off of the second hit. Something like 214B>(slight delay)>236A>6C. You can add a 632146C for extra damage.
