I haven't been on this particular maglev, but from my experience on others, I'll say no, sadly, you don't get to have that much fun and get squished.
Riding maglev trains, unless you're looking out the window, are in fact very boring since they're so smooth. There's very little sensation of speed since there's very little vibration or turbulence; if you've been on a really smooth plane flight, it's very similar, minus takeoff and landing.
There actually is take off and landing- there are wheels on the train that come down once the train slows down to about 100 kph. basically you have a take off and landing of one inch
Be nice people... it's Siemens Technology (out of Germany) purchased by the Chinese. I've ridden it several times, and it's FAST. 270 MPH -- and it covers something like 30 km in 7 minutes from the Pudong airport. I wish it went to the city center (and not the outskirts of Shanghai where you have to transfer to the Metro) but they are planning to extend it, and it's still an AWESOME achievement compared to George W. Bush's "Amtrak" way over in "Jesusland"
British invention? It's German dude, and Chinese didn't develop it. They bought it. But I guess that doesn't matter, the owner of a role x gets the credit, not rolex company.
Eric Laithwaite developed a functional maglev train. His maglev had one mile (1.6 km) of track and was thoroughly tested, but his research was cut off in 1973 due to lack of funding actually.
Just spend 2 seconds on google before posting such claims... It is the fastest rail service in the world in commercial use. I rode it in when I was in Shanghai 2006. The choppines is related to the speed of the train which makes it hard for a consumer level camera to get a smooth shot.
THIS IS REAL, I've posted my own video of the train hitting the top speed of 278mph.. and dont for get there is a lot of quality lost in the video when youtube processes it, my video also looks works than the orginal.
Yeah, because they had left equipment up on the tracks. That would never happen on a commercial service with normal routines implemented. In short. The crash had nothing whatsoever with the technology to do, it was a simple human error that could happen to a regular train service as well.
I want those trains in Denmark!

Is this considered ludicrous speed?
juarezrt 2 years ago
no i dont think so. the japanese maglev can reach up to speeds of 581 kmh
JUKIO01 2 years ago
@juarezrt no speed is to fast ;) unless of course you go fast enough to turn back time. that might not end well

Only 2 nations invented Full-fledged Maglev train
by different way ,different system.
① ★JR-Maglev★ Japan Maximam speed 581 km/h It's Guinnes record currently the fastest train in the world very safe system
② ★Transrapid★ Germany Maximam speed 501 km/h very dangerous system Shanghai Maglev introduced this one
③ ★Linimo★ Japan in 2002 Maximam speed 100 km/h very safe system but slow
SamuraiTogo 3 years ago
The JR Maglev in Shanghai is a Transrapid system and as equally safe as the german system as it is the same.
What do they teach you?

Do you get pushed into your seat from the acceleration or do you gain speed slowly?

Once again, another British invention, but the lack of government investment meant the Chinese developed it. Fair play.

This video looks fake :( It's suspiciously choppy, and the interior is never shown.
