I just bought a gas mask on ebay a couple days ago and its great but I don't know what model it is at all. I want to get more parts for it. The seller said it was an Israeli civilian gas mask but I have no idea what model it is. If I post a pic of it for you can you tell me what it is?

hmm.... i noticed that my pmk gas mask doesnt have the green thing on the exhale valve. mine is black. is there a difference?

This is the first PMK gas mask, i have the PMK 2 - you can put the filter on each side of the mask - left or right. If you want i can post video

It doubt it will cause much damage if you use it for only a little bit.

Im a bit sus as to "all" the russian older filters containing asbestos considering they were made into the 70's and maybe even early 80's.

Really its up to you though.

Does the PMG mask filter have asbestos is it? Im thinking about getting it but i would like to ware it with the filter in a little.

yes it does the GP-5 filter does have it and that filter is the same filter as the PMG

its not as rare as you make it look in the video, they just arent readily available and require a bit more searching.Very nice mask though :)

I've always used my GP-5 filter, I know they're dangerous indeed; if you where it for more than an hour or two in one sitting, your throat will get dry and sore, and you will get a headache.

ha yeah thats what happened to me but i diddnt know why that was happening. i cant say i beleive that theres asbestos in the filters since ive been assured by my local surplus store and considering that mine was from the 60s 70s when asbestoes was outlawed in the 50s 60s. and another reason is because gas masks with asbestoes filters wouldnt even be allowed in the country lol

no but i only wear it for 5 min max per time and i have rarely used it and no it does no make me feel weird but if you do feel that bad and you are sure it is the filter contact you doctor

me and my cousins were having an airsoft war in the woods , and we all had gas masks. and i had my pbf on. its hard as shit to breathe in it when your running . and at the end of the day i felt like shit , like i was about to die , so i guess the asbestos in the filters fucked with my lungs ?

no the PBF does not have asbestos it was not desinged the same way a normal filters my theory is it is just a poliece gas mask but i have heard otherwise

Yeah lol, i have a M10M (uses cheek filters) and is hard to breath in threw aswell =P.

...ughhh even if they did contain asbestoes which im POSSITIVE that they dont....it wouldnt matter how long your exposed. as long as it gets in your lungs it could take a year or 5 mins. doesnt matter. but trust me if they contained asbestos they wouldnt be allowed in the country haha

well i have consulted with gas mask experts a some military shows recently and they warned me that 90% of gas masks from the 1920's to the 1970's has asbestos and yes the period of exposer does matter when i asked my doctor about mesothelioma the cancer caused by asbestos exposer
