Sorell and His Four Guitars) on YouTube? This is 50 years old and has NEVER

been on CD...only rare vinyl exists....

  • @slayfish1960 You are welcome.

  • Before You Tube, and for about 45 years or so I was humbing this tune over and over along with other great theme songs...and now, life's complete....Adventures in Paradisde...what a wonder ful show to watch as a kid...thanks Wally ...

  • @fjbutch You're very welcome.

  • This makes me want to give it all up and head for some of the far-away far-flung islands of Polynesia. I hear this and I think of bamboo thatch huts sitting up off the ground, where one can get a coconut rum or a mai-tai, gentle breezes in the evening twilight and glistening blue seas stretching off into the sunset framed by coconut trees.

  • I sailed with Gardner McKay every week. Loved the show. I owned the album but foolishly sold it quite a while ago. On that album there is a track "Return to Paradise" which I have not been able to find on You Tube. Can you help? If not, thanks for posting this great memory.

  • @Cupcakealex You are welcome. This is an old used copy and some songs were pretty banged up, so "Return To Paradise" would not sound good at all as an upload, has a skip as well, sorry.

  • Talk about an armchair travelers: raising a family, and working hard, my wife and I waited for the night this show was on, and vicariously sailed the South Pacific with Gardner McKaye. To Tahiti, Papeete etc. it was just like being there! What wonderful adventures we had!

  • @Jacksloveinbloom I did that with a lot of shows too (armchair traveling) and still do it, but now I'm grateful for all the great travel shows available on TV.

  • I loved, loved, loved this show..thanks for uploading this.

  • @funwithFred You're welcome.

  • I grew up in Egypt in the mid 1950s to mid 1960s and used to watch the show. A great thrill of mine when I was 7 years old was seeing Gardner McKay coming out of a hotel in Alexandria and having my picture taken with him. I still have it (I'm 55 years old).

  • @YehiaYMishriki Thanks for sharing that memory with us. I never got to meet him.

  • i used to see this series when i was young, now i am 46 ( i am still young) and i loved the landscapes , the music , the ocean, thanks for posted it.

  • There are great looking guys today but nothing, nothing will ever compare to this guy! Ever. I used to rush home to watch the reruns after school once a week and died when one was cancelled. I had a crush from the moment I first saw him and heard his voice. God, what a hunk!!! Thank you for this.

  • You are welcome; I agree - he was one of the most handsomel to ever grace the screen.

  • I too recall this lovely melody from my youth. The show aired very late at night in my area, so it really WAS 'an adventure' getting to stay up late and watch this program. The credits showed the sailboat image taken from a copter making a circle overhead. (Gardner had a book published just prior to his demise. He had hit the talk-shows to promote the edition...then, he was gone.) I loved hearing this again and bringing back the memories that make me sigh...

  • Thank you for your commnents & this update. I didn't realize he died right after the book came out.

  • Takes me back to a magical time of my childhood. Wonderful show and music....5 ***** for this, thanks Wally

  • You're welcome. Thanks for the rating & the comments.

  • God what a hunk he was!!

  • Love this music. I have about 20 versions of Adventures in Paradise. My fav TV show when I was a kid.

Just got back from Fiji where I sailed on the "Tiki" (now known as "Seaspray"

  • Thanks for commenting; it is appreciated. Didn't know there were so many versions of this song out there.

  • @dustygjc

Wow! What a dream come true. I read that Tiki had sunk and am SO glad that a ship that' holds so many memories for so many of us still sails. I wonder if Gardiner sails with her some times .

  • Thanks so much.

  • You are very welcome.
