  • EL JAZZ ; LA MUSICA DE LOS MUSICOS .

  • Johnny Hodges! the saxophone man who made me fall in love with alto sax.

  • OooooooWeeeeeeEEe.... Extra..,Extra! Man brings enough for everyone!!! Thank You for Putting this one out there!!

  • Wow, this is absolutely fantastic. Thanks for posting!

  • @saavedra342: I'll try to remember point "a" next time I hear someone sing "Amercia The Beautiful." I think Alvin meant the United States in his use of America. We tend to employ a rather "Wittgenstein-ian" approach to English in this country. At any rate, although I like the Tango (particularly as it has been interpolated into traditional New Orleans music), but I think I will put on another Hodges record...

  • Wow, that sounds terrific! That Big Band sound definitely had a lot going for it. A wonderful blast from the past - couldn't sound any better if it had to!! Great post.

  • AMAZING

  • Perfection !!

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Recorded in Berlin at the Philharmonie - one of the most famous (and best) concert halls all over the world.

  • This music is really the supreme cultural genius of America. And it sad that more isn't done to share it. I love the saxophone and Johnny Hodges is my main sax man. He had the unique ability that's rarely seen today to elevate a ballad to heights of unspeakable beauty while at he same time injecting a blues sound well ground by earthly emotions.. I love the sound of Johnny Hodges; long may it live.

  • @Alvin276 I agree 100%. Well-stated.

  • @Alvin276 vraiment sublime on ne s'en lasse pas

  • The PERFECT sax sound.

  • Way it should be played - not too slow and certainly not frentic fast. Good show!

  • Effortless, and with more feeling that any other. What tone!!!

  • oh wow look at those WHITE SUITS!!! so awesome

  • <3 Johnny, it was just less than a year before he died :(
