  • iBone...

  • that app name can be very misleading....

  • improv FTW

  • LMFAOOOOOO that was hot

  • im so gunna tell my band teacher about this lol

  • i mean HE's better xD

  • i love trombone :D i must play this in school :S but i think thats better xD

  • I do my sex things with my Tromboner!!

  • how much dose this app cost

  • whopwhop no skill he used a download he didnt acutally play ibone dislike

  • people call me a tromboner

  • iBone, when i watch a sex tape LOL

  • i play trombone xD its awsome

  • Do you have to buy the songs like greensleeves or do you just download them free?

  • @DCBDlife Some are available for purchase and some are free.

  • The end was awesome!

  • To respond to those who think I am dissing the application, that was not my intent. I was merely stating that this app is nothing like playing an actual trombone, though it does promote my favorite instrument quite well. ;)

  • 1:40 so great!

  • Very nice.

A beginner can do that on an actual trombone though, as long as you don't go above high G.

  • why not learn to play an actual trombone, rather than toying around with an app that takes as much skill as any video game.

  • Because whether you play an actual trombone (which I do) or use a virtual music making machine (ever heard of a keyboard???) you still have to be able to hear what's good and what's not. Plus, you probably aren't any good at video games, either.

  • I am actually fairly good at video games. I see this as a game much like guitar hero. it takes practice to get good at, but nonetheless is still a game. A keyboard can be used to play actual sheets of music and can simulate a piano, and is therefore a legit instrument. I am not dissing the application, Merely those who believe it to be more than what it is, which is a highly advanced game. So your underhanded jab at me was uncalled for.

  • @jxnman93 The jab was not underhanded, just cheap. And you're right, it was uncalled for.

I'm not saying the app is a musical instrument. But I'm also not saying it isn't. Guitar Hero tells you what buttons to hit when, and essentially does the playing for you. The app requires you to discern what is good from what is not, and allows you to be creative. If your definition of a musical instrument is one that allows you to "play actual sheets of music," the app is an instrument.

  • fuck, amazing

  • Holy shit amazing.

I've learned about the iBone from the Your Mac Life podcast. I'm heading over to the app store to buy it. Sounds like too much fun.

  • the ending is best. with the solo. beast

  • Man, you have GOT to be kidding. Who would have ever thought something like this would be possible? As a trombone player, this is THE reason I might make the switch over to AT&T!.

  • It's very true that this helps to visualize the different pitches of all the different slide positions (even I can get lost in the levels after a while). I still can't help but think it's easier to play a real trombone, though (besides the high notes) :)

  • Actually that app makes it look easier than it really is. The slide is like a huge tuning slide. That means that the notes are not located exactly at each position on the slide. Each note is a little bit further in or out than you think. Playing a trombone takes a lot of ear and knowing where to go.

  • @kenny5292

I play trombone myself. I was simply stating that the iBone helps people to visualize what level of note they are playing.

For me, though, playing the real thing is a heckuva lot easier than using my finger like this.

  • LIP SLURS! UNREAL!

  • iBone

    lol

  • iBone too, but you really should be married first.

  • excellent improv(isation)

  • ok listen....I've played trombone for like 4 years and I appreciated his rendition of greensleves at the end ^_^

  • lol at the end

  • dude! that's cool. i've been playin trombone for like 3 yrs and 'd LOVE this. dude this is awesome!

  • Shame Shame Shame on you all!!!!!!!! I've played a real trombone for 7 years LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • Uhm wow your cool. There are plenty of people out there that dig the ibone that are better musicians than you.

  • you fail

  • lol you probably are not even good if your trying to brag about it on this ibone video.

  • i wasn't bragging, i find it sad that people think their cool because they can play a virtual instrument. I was just stating that unlike these people, i actually know how to play an instrument, which i think that eveyone should learn to play something. And to add to your comment to the other person, being good at ibone won't make you any better at playing a trombone, its the same concept of a guitar and guitar hero

  • The way to think about iBone is as a supplement (not replacement) to the real thing -- one, it's super portable and accessible, and, two, it help's you visualize the instrument harmonics and focus on what you want to play (so when you pick up the real thing you'll have an edge). If you're a 'bone player, then this can be a fun and useful tool. If you're not, then it's a game. (con't)

  • As far as guitar hero goes, iBone is different in that it's closely modeled after the way you think when you play the real thing (partials and positions), and you're actually generating the sound and playing the notes. Guitar Hero isn't very closely modeled after actual guitar playing, and you're not playing the notes.

  • lol greensleeves on trombone. the improv was GREAAT

  • lol sounds like iboner but it is pretty cool

  • Wow, impressive improv at the end! Nice work.

  • that is the funniest name for an app

  • you guys are missing hte point.

    1: its for fun o.o

    2. it can help, simply by studying music and learning scales, id recommend this, or you can just pull up your trombone in the car, wichever is easier.

  • you're all dumb the Edwards brand is the way to go.

  • i rock dis instrument.

  • stop wasting your time and learn a real instrument

  • That's the point. There are lots of places and lots of times when you can't practice the real thing but you can practice iBone. It's modeled after the real thing, so while it won't help your breathing it will help you train your ear, learn songs, visualize the harmonic structure of the instrument and on and on.

  • Do all that and you'll get better at the real thing.

  • he obviously knows how to play...

  • oh so touching your finger on an iphone is a trombone now?

  • no, it's not a trombone it's iBone. It will help you with your trombone.

  • no but your an idiot if you don't know that a lot of people get this app to improve their playing.

  • Damn. I play sousaphone... Make an iTuba, or iSousaphone!

  • Haha awesome for band geeks. =D

  • dude xenos are the bomb they pwn any stupid conn 88

  • honestly in my mind i hate xeno's its too much of a bright tone, i love my bach 42bo i would never trade it in for one, bachs are rich dark toned, xeno's are brighter. Conclusion xeno= better for bands, bachs= better for symphony's, conns=student shitty horn, hahahah.

  • i like the new xenos, but my fav horn (thats not a shires) is a bach 42A with a hagman valve

  • Xenos are garbage. I've played 4 different Xenos and they sound like a plastic instrument. No unique tone or character to them. Mechanically, they're fine, but tone and color they're worthless. Try Conn 88 models.

  • BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • AWSOME!!!! But it is nothing like the real trombone....lol. I play Tenor Trombone. (I haz a Xeno professional trombone! yay!)

  • that is an awesome, app, but I'm a trombone player and they have some of the highlighted notes going with the wrong slide position. One example is the "g's" at around 35 seconds in, the slide was in 2nd position, when it should of been in fourth position.

  • Glad you like it. The slide positions are accurate -- normally you'd play that high G in second (though closer in to adjust for it being naturally flat). Are there other notes you think aren't accurate?

  • no, it is very accurate, the G played 35 seconds in is right, it is the 2nd position! I was thinking of the G one octave lower than that :) Thanks for making such a cool app :)

  • no problem! :) thanks for checking it out.

  • what the hell ibone serously no seriously ibone ok i give. iphone can do just about anything in your pocket

  • no fucking way thats awesome and hilarious iphone seems to have everything

  • yea HAHA

  • I'm going to buy an iPhone, just so I can say I have a robobone

  • is that a bone in your pocket ? or are you just happy to see me?

  • =O =O omg!!! how cool is THAT!?!?! =O =O

  • do "the new version of you" by reel big fish

  • Wow thats awesome dude lol

  • HAHAHA! Trombone player here =]

Now I need an iPod touch to use this and hone my excellence xD

  • haha nice imrpov! lol

  • omg i want a iphone now!!!

  • OMG MY GOD AWESOME. Too bad I'm a sax/trumpet player lol. (Not so much trombone.) BUT THATS SWEET!

  • WOW I CAN GET BONED WHENEVER I WANT!!!!

  • nice improv

  • imagine the next part of this series ibone2

  • wow wtf? this is so wtf?

  • Oh my God! That's awesome lol

  • iTrumpet possibly??

  • trombones are THE bes instrument in a band and nobody can say other wise! xD long live the trombone!!!

  • Amen brother!

  • That's What's up man.I play trombone too.Been playing 4 six years.

  • I can say otherwise - I'm partial to tuba, thanks :P

  • well then thats ur choice to like the tuba. i just have a personal preference for the trombone. :P

  • WOAH! *jaw dropped*

  • haha so now everyone can experience the awesomeness of being a trombone player...well at least iPone ppl lol

  • That's some mean circular breathing!

  • ohh, a little frank rosolino in the end.

  • I want an iPhone for just this app

  • Liked the improv ending. Can you do any song on there or only the ones that come with the app.

  • You can play with any song in your iPod library (just start it before loading iBone), OR, you can play along with the songs in the Songbook. As shown in the video, if you play with a song in the Songbook it will show you how to play and if you turn on 'roboBone' it will play for you.

  • i play trombone in real life and love it. can you play whatever you want? a

  • yes, all the notes are there chromatically you just click them to sound them. They are touch sensitive for dynamics and you can tremolo by vibrating your fingers :)

  • ahahahahah amazing ;)

  • they probably could have named this app differently...

  • Ha, ya; I was thinking the same thing...

  • haha that was great

  • Wow the last 2 seconds were good...
